In terms of the building, this is probably one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Our 4 person room had a bunk bed and two additional beds, crammed in so tightly that you had to side step between them. We were lucky (!) enough to have an en-suite, which had a slide door which did not shut probably. The shower started off freezing cold for the first few minutes before, in a mater of seconds, changing to being painfully hot. Dangerously so in fact; I would not want to let a child use this shower. The other rooms in the hotel share bathrooms, each broken in their own way (toilet impossible to flush, shower hose broken off wall etc.). The place seemed generally dirty. When we arrived we each had to pay a £30 cash deposit, which was only returned after inspection and waiting around for 45 minutes on departure. They made a big fuss about how good their English breakfasts were: sadly these fell well below expectations, featuring only the bear minimum of beans, eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato and toast (no mushrooms, black pudding, hash browns here!). The ingredients all seemed to be from an economy/value supermarket range, and no-one in our group could stomach the sausages. They have a pool table in the front longe, and also an outside picnic table. The front of the hotel offers nice sea views. They also have a licensed bar (drinks poured from cans but at pub prices). On a positive note, the staff were genuinely friendly people, and seemed interested in where we were planning to go out, and what activities we had planned during the day (surfing). As such, I think this saved The Ridge from being 1 star - however, if it costs more than about £20 pppn to stay there I would definitely give this place a miss.

We would certainly recommend a stay here and will be returning in the future. the Marsh family, Southampton.

This surf lodge is a basic place to stay, It is really cheap and is genreally available to young…read morepeople aged 16-25 however out of seasont they are perepared to let anyone stay. The rooms are manily dorm style with bunk beds and 4-8 perople per room, however there are 2 rooms which have only 2 beds. There is a large communal area where you can cook and sit together. there is a TV in here. There is a courtyard area where you can keep your surfboards and hang wet kit. The showers are particularly great and cope well with the sand. The lodge is within easy walking distance of Towan beach. Very basic, but you wouldnt expect anything more for the money that you pay. Close to the centre of town there is no need for taxis on your nights out.

We shared the mussels and I ordered the meat pie. My sister had a burger and we shared the avocado salad. Everything was very fresh and loads of flavor. My favorite was the mussels. Highly recommend if you are in Fowey and looking for a nicer lunch spot!

The site is beautifully kept, and COVID protocols are adhered to so we always felt safe. Ray, the owner, was on hand for anything we needed and always had a ready smile. Location is amazing, with a beautiful sea view and easy walking distance to the harbor where you can take the ferry to Fowey. Highly recommended.

It's a great B&B, very well located, run by a delightful couple who are 100% focussed on meeting your needs and showing huge hospitality. Great breakfasts, excellent, clean rooms with ensuites, and a little outdoor sitting area for guests. Close to two magnificant beaches, 2 mins walk from a superb local pub, a few hundred yards from the coastal walk, and 35 mins drive from the Eden project. A great place to stay. HIGHLY recommended.
