Reel Cinema Quinton, what can I say? I'm a fair and honest reviewer. I take everything into consideration when I critique places and all things considered this place is dreadful.
I've been here a number of times with friends who insist on visiting this place quoting the 'charm' of the place as a for argument for a visit. Each time I come away, I'm left with the same disappointment with my trip here.
Take my visit here this evening for example. When we arrived at 8:25pm on a Tuesday evening to watch Skyfall the doors were locked, so had to hammer on the window to be let in. A dreary and unfriendly attendant with little conversation or customer service skill set opened the door. Buying the tickets was a faff, with the tills having to be restarted so we could pay by card. There was no 'please', 'thank you' or 'enjoy the film' from the attendant, which I would think is basic mood lifter stuff for a customer, as well as general customer service.
Once into the cinema screen, there were about 6/7 other customers... great! The cinema (practically) to ourselves! But, the seats were so tightly packed together that it would have been uncomfortable with any more than the 7 customers in there (NB. This may be a slight exaggeration but they were tight, I'm only 5'10ish and wasn't comfy for the whole film).
Now for the main problem. There was a POWER OUTAGE! Around 40 minutes into the film, the power to the film was cut completely... lights, screen, sound - the lot! The lights came back on and the shifty projectionist stuck his head round the door and grunted something about the film restarting soon. The screen started, no sound. With about five minutes of the action lost. Fast forward twenty or so minutes and there's another power cut - but only to our screen as we could hear the screen next door still playing. The sound came back on five minutes later but with no visuals. Shocking! We'd missed at least fifteen minutes by now.
On the way out, we asked the projectionist what happened in hope of an explanation and hopefully some fore of refund or at least a 'come again soon on the house for your troubles' type voucher. No such luck on the refund/voucher and he blamed the National Grid for the problems which he claimed stretched as far as Warley. My 24 hour office is pretty much next door to here and there was no problems there...
I thought we were being stitched up... But no. It was REEL alright! I've been truely put off this place. It is shoddily decorated and staffed by an unhelpful team. My negative opinion of this place isn't formed on just one poor visit. This place is consistant in it's dreadfulness.
In short, this place is a nightmare! Stay away! read more
