Even has Horlicks as well as hot chocolate and bikkie on the tray. I think the room must have been revamped recently as it all looks great. (I don't know whether it is cheap or not as I've never had to pay to go there). The food on at least two of those three occasions I've been was woeful and I did not enjoy it one bit. The only slight thing in its favour is its proximity to the motorway network -- but it's a long way from any public transport links. I won't be going here again unless I absolutely have to!

A focus on home made ingredients and high quality ingredients makes for a delicious meal :) I can recommend the hand cut chips and burger ( from thick, lean cuts and served in a whole meal bun ). Breakfast is also highly acclaimed - having won 'the best breakfast in Britain award' multiple times. Worth stopping for on your journey over any services for the value and quality of food. Everything is freshly made and sourced locally wherever possible. From the free range eggs to the Stornoway Black Pudding all of the food was excellently prepared and presented. The cooked breakfast was tasty and delicious. My compliments to the chef. Highly recommended!

I stayed for one night on a recent visit. The hotel is a…read moremodern building on the M6 junction, next to the River Ribble. It has ample secure parking and a bar, restaurant and function rooms. Most of the guests seemed to be heading onwards on the motorway. The bar and restaurant are spacious, and the bar was busy most of the evening. My bedroom was also clean and very spacious, with a big and comfy bed. There are lawns sloping down to the river, with a decked terrace, which is very nice, although the view across the river is somewhat undermined by the roar of traffic on the nearby motorway (and the road bridges mar the view somewhat, too). The river is slow moving, so expect plenty of insect life. That was one of the main problem with my stay. It was very hot over 28C on my visit, and my room did not have air-conditioning. The window opening was limited by a safety catch, which meant it stayed hot, but still filled with insects, which I had to spend ten minutes disposing of (not really wanting to be feasted on by mosquitoes overnight). I tried to procure a fan, but room service wasn't responding. So I dressed and went down to reception, and then paged the night porter, who promised a fan but didn't deliver one. So I had a lousy night's sleep. On the upside, breakfast and daytime reception staff were lovely and very helpful, and the breakfast buffet was generous. Hot breakfasts are cooked to order. For my sticky and uncomfortable night, the hotel refunded part of the room-charge and the manager rang me a few days later and apologised as well. So, overall, I would happily stay again when it is cooler but maybe not in high summer, unless they install air-conditioning.

The fish cake was so fishy not just full on potato and the chips were cooked to perfection. House wine was drinkable too! Bedrooms comfortable but there was a sewery smell from the bathroom which was slightly off putting. The games room was very old school and traditional, dark oak and some gentrified games but also a tv and a darts boas. It was £70 a room in a Saturday night - good value if you're not up for £125 for the Marriott one mile down the road!

I think there are 20+ rooms here and the bedroom pleasant, with modern but traditional furnishings. A old-fashioned dial telephone, and bookshelf of authentic old books sat alongside my bose radio. Anyway the views from the outside patio and restaurant are breathtaking, especially at sunset, overlooking the river Hodder and hills of farmland. I think you can fish here for a small fee if staying in the hotel. We ate in the restaurant and the food was great, I had chicken pate, followed by melt in your mouth fillet of beef. There is a wide range of drinks on offer, and the shop Vintners sells plenty of wine, alongside Molton Brown products, which are also used in the rooms. Lovely little place, worth the trek.

The rooms are generously sized with good facilities, nice decor and comfortable beds. But... What on earth has happened to the lighting? The newly-refurbished rooms are SO dark. There is only one ceiling light in the entire room, which is in the entrance area adjacent to the bathroom. The rest of the lighting comes from 2 wall lights, one standard lamp, and a desk light. Neither the desk light or standard lamp are switchable from the bed. So, you have to go around the room and switch all the lights off before going to bed. Not ideal in a quality hotel. That niggle aside, the stay was fine. Good breakfast, good wifi, easy car parking and friendly staff. Would I go back? Yes... But I'd take a torch. :-)

The staff were extremely welcoming. There's a small breakfast room (breakfast is included in the modest fare). You'll even find an ironing board in the corridor available to all guests. Room service is only available on request though. Many nice pubs within walking distance, also not far from the nicely restored North Pier. As a budget option for Blackpool, I'd highly recommend the Northern Star.

The owners were super helpful, allowing me to check-in early on arrival, and storing my case after check-out, rather than me lugging it around town all day until my evening train. The bar and breakfast room have been given a funky retro makeover with a lick of paint and stylish accessories transforming hideously dated anaglypta, and the whole place is a fresh sunny yellow in the hall, with new carpeting throughout. A full cooked breakfast is included in the room price, which swayed my decision to book. Vegetarian and vegan offered too! (Veggy here). Cooked breakfast aside, there is a buffet style help yourself option, cereals, toast, breakfast bars, tea/coffee and juice. My one gripe would be the plastic cups for juice, with single use plastic such a nightmare, could they really not stretch to proper glasses? My single room was small, but I expected that, as a shared bathroom booking it was a handy bonus to have a sink though. The tiles were falling off the wall, and the over-mirror light didn't work, but when brought up to owner, I was assured the refurb would sort that anyway. The bed was really comfy, but I did need an extra pillow, which was no problem. Kettle with usual tea/coffee sachets. My room, 13, faced the back of Funny Girls, and I did find it to be a bit noisy from there, or pubs nearby, so pack earplugs. There is free WiFi but I found it terribly spotty and slow. The hotel is literally yards from Blackpool North Station, and very handy for the big Sainsbury's, local nightlife, and is a short walk to the Promenade and town centre. Would certainly book again.

my family have stayed here a few times when visiting me and they always go back. the staff are…read morefriendly and it is well priced and a handy location. it is on the A59 which is a main road but the bedrooms are on the back and there is a nice garden at the back. The food is fine and what you would expect from a Band B. the rooms are a bit dated but very cosy and warm and the place feels welcoming. The hotel is useful for wedding guests of Mytton Fold farm and other local places at a fraction of the cost.
