I ordered takeout - the man at the counter was so sweet. The goat curry is absolutely delicious, a little spicy, and comes with flavorful rice and beans as well as cabbage. A very satisfying meal. **warning- it is a novel. Lol - My family was driving thru KC and decided to stop by for a meal as we love Jamaican cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday evening around 4pm and there were only 4 other people inside the restaurant to which no one was eating any food of being served. Place is small with a bar area and a few tables. There were speakers lined up by the front that were blasting very loud music in a very small space. There seemed to be one staff (owner? Manager?) up front by the register. He did not greet us or barely looked at us until we got up to the register to look at the menu. He then pointed to a little white board saying something I couldn't comprehend because the music was so loud I could barely think. I had to ask him again to which he said that's the menu for the day, which was only 3 things : chicken stew, goat curry, & cow foot. My husband and I started a conversation to see what he wanted. The staff then said good bye, waved, and smiled to some patrons that were leaving and then he left thru a back door to what I assumed was the kitchen. We ended up leaving so not sure if he ever returned. Ultimately, We didn't feel welcomed and were disappointed that out of their whole entire menu, they were only offering 3 things especially on a Sunday. I recognize that there are quite a few restaurants that closes on Sundays in KC and I'm not sure of their restaurant culture on Sundays -maybe they have less traffic = don't want to waste time cooking up their whole menu? Regardless, we would have loved to try all three items but it just left a bad taste in my mouth to support an establishment that didn't want to serve me or even greet me. Not sure what his assumptions were, if he thought we wouldn't purchased anything but I would of purchased no less than $100 worth of food from his 3 item menu and no less than $150 from his regular menu just bc I am a foodie and love to try out a large selection of food when I go to a new city. They are doing take out only. I ordered a large order of Oxtail, a small curry chicken, extra side of cabbage, a beef pattie and a Ting. It was $31. Very reasonably priced. DELICIOUS food! COVID-19 review: I'm so grateful that I live in an area that offers a wide variety of food offerings. Had my first try of this place and really enjoyed the food. I was expecting takeout only and there are tables pushed to the side, but no one was eating in. Portions are big. The current price of the ox tail is $18, but it is a very large portion. They had a sign on the wall indicating which menu items they were serving that day. None of the blackened foods were available. And the shrimp and fish take 45 mins?!? He said it's because they cook it up fresh? I guess if I want that I'll order ahead next time. I don't know if these menu modifications are because of a shortage of staff or supplies or what? I ordered the curried goat and it comes with rice and steamed cabbage. Everything had a good flavor and the meat was so tender. Warning: there were a lot of bones in the meat, both big and even tiny bones. Not something you want to eat fast. I guess that just forces you to slow down and savor the food more. The portion was big so definitely enough for two meals. I will be back to try other menu items and hope when the pandemic is over and things get back to normal, I can eat in the restaurant and see what the ambiance is like. read more

This is a great addition to Troost. It's a hole-in-the-wall​ in a good way. Price is right and the food is good. Anytime I eat Jamaican​ I have to have the oxtails and these were delicious. The food is great my favorite is the ox tails I've been there several times only because the food is good but to be honest the customer service is not very good at all. The lady that I called my order in and spoke with was rude of the phone and even More rude in person. I don't think I'll be going back anymore just because I really didn't enjoy my experience at all.
