LOVE the always changing menu and amazing atmosphere. The staff is so warm and friendly. Definitely one of Toledo's hidden gems!

We're new in Toledo having lived in Chicago all of our lives. This restaurant was recommended to us for a special occasion. I can only say: I do not recommend this place at all. First, our reservation was lost (& I had called twice). Next, were seated facing a pillar by the "host" who's wearing jeans and boat shoes. If you like to wear a flannel shirt and jeans when you go out for a nice dinner, a large dinner bill and poor food this is the place for you. I ordered a mixed drink, on the rocks. Got one ice cube. Squash Soup was OK but there was about 2 ounces in the bowl. I had the fish, served whole. I was not given the choice of having it any other way. I did not even eat it. My wife had the pork and it was tough and fatty. Bread was rock-hard. The ice cream for dessert tasted as if it had deep frozen for a long time and then thawed. It had a strange taste to it and broke apart in chunks. The only redeeming factor was the waitress. She was very understanding and even deducted the fish from th final bill. I didn't ask for that, nor did I expect it. This place tries to be first class but misses by a mile. We certainly will not ever dine there again. Plus I am having European customers visiting in a few weeks and I thought this would be a nice choice. No way. read more

I, too, was a fan of Divas and also when Chef Rapp was at the museum. I've been a few times to Registry Bistro and have encouraged others to go as well. Service is professional and considerate. I had a dinner business mtg there recently and not once did we feel rushed, even though the mtg lasted a few hours. Every course perfectly timed, kudos to our server Haley. Food was excellent and they have a great cocktail list. I had 4 courses and didn't regret a bite. Incredible value for the superior level of cuisine prepared and presented. I've traveled widely and eaten well in many places around the world, Registry Bistro is a strong contender as one of the best. The only thing it lacks is a more vibrant downtown setting. But with RB now setting the standard and drawing the crowds, I'm hopeful for what's to come downtown. read more

True, there might be better places in large metro areas, but there are also worse places in those same metro areas that try to come off as great and fall flat on their faces. You won't get fooled at Registry. Great food with reasonable prices. Knowledgeable staff can actually make a wine or beer pairing that works (the latter part the important part). read more

We were passing through town and looked this place up on Yelp, and boy were we not disappointed. The ambiance is very hip and cool: everything is clearly new, some very nice art on the walls, exposed ceiling, concrete floors. The cocktails were great - we went for second rounds. The butcher plate (appetizer) was really awesome. Then our entrees came, and we both felt they were oversalted but still tasty. When the very nice waiter asked us how we were doing, we brought up the oversalted point and, to our surprise, he took away both our entrees saying he would have them redone immediately and if we were not enjoying them, that's no good, he then came back saying that they tried them back in the kitchen and they were not supposed to be that way (nice touch - always helps to know you are not an idiot!) and brought us soup of the day compliment of the chef to help gloss over the awkwardness. We then had the new version of our entrees, which were done to our taste, and we really enjoyed them. To end the evening, we got complimentary desserts which were really good. Ambiance: 5 stars Food: 4.5 stars. Very inventive for both food and drinks. Unusual combinations of flavors very well executed, resulting in some pretty spectacular dishes. Thank you fellow Yelpers! My boyfriend and I arrived in Toledo at 9:30pm on a weeknight. We were starving, and I immediately consulted my Yelp app for restaurant recommendations. Registry Bistro sounded great, and they seated us 15 minutes before closing. Our server was wonderful, and the chilled artichoke soup was unbelievable (as was the Midwest meatloaf burger). I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Philly, and Registry Bistro would fit right in. read more

For my money, this is easily the best restaurant in the city. The quality of food for the price makes it a total winner. The portions aren't huge, but I'd rather pay $15 or $20 for an amazing meal and leave satisfied than pay $30 or $40 for too much food and leave miserable (full or otherwise). Brilliant craft cocktails, inventive soups and salads ($4 - $6) and some really impressive cuisine ($10 - $25) make for a great night out. The hanger steak, venison bolognese, seafood potpie, ravioli in consume, 40 clove chicken, meatloaf burger with bacon jam ... I could go on. Everything on the menu is as good as the next. Be sure to try to scotch olives, duck meatballs, and the charcuterie tray on the appetizer menu. Close your eyes and plop your finger on the menu, you're bound to be delighted with whatever you order. Not to mention, the atmosphere is contemporary, cozy, and creative, and the service is super friendly and top notch. Enjoy!! ... Oh, and don't forget desert! Let me begin by saying that Erica Rapp is or at least was the best chef in Toledo and maybe NW Ohio by a long shot 5 years ago as exec chef of Diva which has now closed. I remember mind blowing dishes and passion to which focus, emphasis, and innovation were distinct points in her cuisine. Unfortunately her restaurant Registry Bistro lacks. I am sure she is still talented, however, what she is presenting now is muddled and lack-luster. I'm not claiming that one restaurant should mimic another and the Registry Bistro should be hers in every way. Yet here was my experience... To begin the waitress only asked two party members what they wanted to drink. 15 minutes later my children got their milk. Three of four salads were wrong - meaning completely wrong. Props to the BLT salad which was well balanced and flavorful. Baked oysters were mediocre at best lacking seasoning sauce or any other accent... Strangely adorned with radish and some greenery under the shell transporting no flavor to the product. Asian Duck buns with peanut hoisin sauce was OK certainly not worth the cost and the sauce tasted of something very familiar and bottled. Three meals arrived to the table in a party of six... The waitress said that the rest would be right out. 15 minutes later with cold food in front of us i stood up and found the front of the house manager. And yet another 10 more minutes and the food finally made an apearance. My son who is 5 had ordered a meatloaf burger, which the waitress had made no indication that internal temp was even an option, came out mid rare. I sent it back to the kitchen when it returned it was chared black on one side and still rare internally. the branzino i was told was tasty and rather good. One of my party members ordered the crab and andouille pot pie which was more of an en croute and was nothing special enough to send that back to the kitchen as well. She did comp all of the meals which was nice. My meal of scallops was good though fit for a much less hungry individual. Didn't want to temp fate with desert. 83 dollars for liquor and apps the former appreciated far more than the latter. Check it out for yourself I don't want to kill her business as she is talented and does deserve success. This was my second trip to this restaurant playing the first meal off as newness. The first meal i had there was meh but worth a second chance. Just keep in mind that I've had better success with service at a 24hr greasey spoon. read more

Thank you fellow yelpers!! The Registry is an amazing restaurant. We went there Friday night, myself, my husband, and daughter, had a fantastic meal. The appetizers: fried pita with smear (3 different spreads), cheese stuffed olive encased inside chorizo meatballs with a remoulade dip, glazed walnuts. For dinner stuffed cornish hen, chicken, and my husband had hard to find tile fish, delicious. And the desserts are priced at $5, really innovative, original. Chocolate Stout Pie in a pretzel crust, cardamon scented cake with a chocolate ganauche. The chef was head chef at Toledo Museum and is C.I.A. trained. Not alot in Toledo, but I would not mind making the 2 hour trip to eat here again and again! read more

Fantastic meal for Toledo. Our table started with scotch olives stuffed with goat cheese and the peach naan pizza (maybe I have that name wrong). Both were very good. For an entree I had the Hanger steak. It was served with black garlic butter on a bed of bacon and very thinly sliced potatoes along with some spinach. It was perfectly cooked, seasoned and presentation was awesome. Prices were very reasonable, wine list was decent and ambiance was very cool. I'll be back. read more

Ordered a Beefeater martini (no anchovy olives - so they gave me olives with nothing in them) with a little vermouth. Commented to waitress too much vermouth and on the second martini asked for just a little. Second one a little better; but they charged me $4 for a "stiff drink!" I didn't ask them to add - but delete. Watch what you order; never again for us. read more

this place is wonderful. the scotch olives are a must try. if you like bourbon the maple smokey Manhattan was good. overall, everything was good. fancy yet casual environment was perfect. we ordered the mussel, oysters, olives, and cheese board as apps and they were all good. read more

ok, for toledo, this is as good as it gets. service was excellent! duck naan pizza was awesome (and i don't even like arugula normally - just don't go expecting a lot of duck. it's really more of a garnish, but it's totally worth it anyway), i tried a bite of the whiskey ribeye which was very flavorful and tender (even though my dining partner ordered it well done). the scallops were outstanding, and even though i'm not a huge polenta fan, it was REALLY quite good! the blood in the sky and whiskey fizz cocktails were terrific (then again, i love campari), and the violet upside down cake was the absolute BEST!!! (full disclosure - i love violet flavored candies in general). this is going right up there on my "places to take out of town guests" list. read more

Came to Registry Bistro for my husbands company party and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were in a room separate from the restaurant itself but still enjoyed the wonderful creations! We were able to sample most menu items. I particularly enjoyed the edemome dumplings. Definately will be back! read more

We love the Registry Bistro! The food is always amazing, delicious and different then the typical Toledo menu. The atmosphere is beautiful and the changing art is always fun to view. This is a consistent beyond good every time meal and evening. What's even more is that They make meals vegan, and gluten free which is so important and we appreciate. If you want a great meal in a beautiful ambiance- this is your place! read more

My wife, who is French mind you, and I wanted to try registry bistro due to the great reviews. After the walleye game tonight, we stopped in at 10:00 pm to try the place. We walk in and abruptly we're told that the bar was closed even though it says that it closes at 11:00 pm on Yelp in addition to the front door gentleman mentioning that they close at 11:00 pm. It was obvious from the start that the female, long, dark haired bartender did not want any more customers based on here actions and mannerisms. She was passive aggressive in her vibes and made it clear, based on body language, that she did not want to wait on any more customers. Now mind you, if I acted this way within my professional career, I would have been reprimanded. However, I would not have done this because the doors of business was still open. I was disgusted by her millennial, immature behavior. I'm sorry, maybe I have to dine during the early evening, as so I or my wife don't have to deal with this. The first impression based on this would be immature as well and we will give it a try again hoping for a better showing by your business. read more

Registry Bistro LOOKED very promising, judging by their menu and the photos on their web site. And their appetizers and soups were great! Plus their drinks - well, they were awesome! But the main dishes were just fine, nothing better than Chili's or Applebee's. And the service was worse than lacking: after we were served our entrees, we didn't see our waitress until we had finished eating. Overall, extremely disappointing. read more

I have eaten there only twice. First time the service was just horrific. Food not bad. Figures we should give them another chance. Second time was even worse. took forever to get a drink. food came out of kitchen at different times. Uncomfortable to wait for your dishes while others were already eating. Out server/waiteress had about 10 tables I swear. couldn't get her attention if we were on fire. Worst place I have been to in years. I saw in some other reviews that service was less than par. It wasn't a lie!!! Never would set foot in this place again! Not even if it were free. read more

was with a group of women last night at Registry. Place is always gorgeous, service is fabulous and presentation is wonderful. Had new appetizer - blue crab with pimento cheese - very yummy!!! salads were excellent and wine was quite good. Loved our waiter and it was so nice to see Chef Rapp. Desserts, as always were fabulous - highly recommend the sampler plate - plenty to try and great treats. read more

I love this restaurant. The food is amazing and I really recommend it. The only thing I would say is that the art work on the walls is a bit disturbing and doesn't fit the vibe of the bistro. When three of us had dinner the other night at the strangely-named Registry Bistro (it is not a bistro), we experienced what is so often the case at restaurants that try to be different, something that is true of this restaurant. In an attempt to differentiate themselves from other places they offer strange and frequently weird combinations of foods in a single dish, as did the Registry Bistro, but in this case they were mostly successful in the exceptionally good appetizers, soup and (a bit less so) and deserts. The main courses were a different story. Not that they were bad; that was far from the case, but the odd combinations did not come off very well. The dishes were acceptable, but that was all. Well, not all. Two dishes were luke warm; one had to be sent back for reheating. As one of my companions ordered the wine, I am not sure of this, but I seem to recall that the bottle came to the table already opened and that the waitress did not pour a bit for preliminary tasting, as is traditional. Perhaps the RB is trying to counter tradition. Except for this lack, the waitress was both efficient and knowledgable. One more negative thing: The $2.50 cup of coffee was weak and quite ordinary. And finally, the bare concrete floor, the hard-surfaced walls, and the metal ceiling combined to produce a noise level so loud that dinner table conversation was almost impossible. I would recommend this restaurant for the appetizers and probably the deserts, but not for main courses, and if you plan to go, bring ear plugs. read more

Really enjoyed our meal at The Registry Bistro. Staff was well trained and very pleasant. Our party had 3 different meals: Pork was absolutely wonderful. The favors that were added certainly complimented the meal. We also tried the Meatloaf Burger with thin HOT fries--delicious. The last meal was the steak and the portion was large but better than that it was fantastic. All food presentations were beautifully done. Also had the BLT Salad, it was delicious didn't mind the romaine it made a nice boat for the rest of the fixings. Deserts were ordered and again were beautifully presented and very tasty. Oh by the way, the bread is so so good (very grainy). The only criticism I have is the noise level made it difficult to impossible to carry on a comfortable conversation at times. My daughter had heard good things about Registry Bistro in Downtown Toledo, so we headed to the city to check it out. Registry Bistro is located just up the road from 5th/3rd field on N. Superior. There's limited parking on the street but they provide valet parking for $5. Others have mentioned the interior and I agree that it is a nice adaptation of an old building. We had two appetizers to start, the brussel sprouts and the baked brie with summer squash. The consensus of the party was that they were both very good. Both the sprouts and the brie were cooked just right. Our party of five each chose a different dish. The menu that is currently posted on facebook is different from the one we saw in the restaurant last night. My daughter had the salad with greens, blueberries and smoked bleu cheese and thought it was average with very little dressing to bring it all together. Her boyfriend had the Bucatini Carbonara and enjoyed every bite. My other daughter had the gnocchi and thought it was good. My wife had the bourbon chicken. The pieces were small and had been overcooked making the meat dry. On the servers recommendation I had the pork chops. They were small but perfectly cooked. Unfortunately they were served in probably the most overpoweringly seasoned sauce I'd ever tasted. It was so salty and full of scorched veggie flavors that I was going to send them back, but our server had disappeared for a long stretch. I extracted the chops from the sauce and had them from my bread plate. We elected to skip dessert. For our party of 5 the bill came to $160 without tip. We don't believe that the food quality or portions match the price. I'd rather drive up to Ann Arbor for a better meal for the same money. We won't be repeating. read more

Was looking forward to a great dinner and excellent service last evening based upon our usually great experiences there. Unfortunately and unexpectedly, not so. While appetizers were good, our waiter didn't show up to explain what was on the tray until we had just about finished with it. The branzino was not edible, old, smelly, very fishy and sent back. Took quite a while for our waiter to come to check on us about our meals. Everyone else was just about done with their dinners by the time we had someone go get him ( he was very attentive to another table close to ours.. Maybe he was trying to take care of too many tables, so he ignored ours). One of our friends ordered the osso bucco... Reportedly very fatty, not so great. He did not finish his meal. We had to ask another waiter for water, refills of our glasses all evening. It took a while to get our bottles of wine, especially long delay for the second one, dinners were already finished by the time it showed up. But for the first pours of each bottle, we served ourselves. Overall, food was disappointing and unsatisfactory, and the service was lackluster and inattentive. read more
