I feel compelled to tell you about the ABSOLUTE WORST RETAIL CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I have…read moreever encountered at TNT FINE LINGERIE & BRA BOUTIQUE in Orillia, ON. I apologize for the length of this post, but please read to the end. As a 50+ male shopper, I must say I have not spent a lot of time in intimate apparel shops such as TNT. During my search this past Christmas for a nice sleep set for my partner, I came across TNT in Orillia. As I work in the city and live in the area, I also wanted to shop local and support local merchants during the holiday season. I was not looking for a pair of flannel PJs, but rather something that would make my partner feel beautiful and comfortable. You see, she has had surgery due to illness that has unfortunately left her chest scarred. I wanted something that would make her feel good and leave a smile on her face. I chose TNT as it seemed to have what I felt was appropriate, thinking if I chose wrong, then my partner could return it. The sales person, who I believe said she was the sister of the owner, was very helpful. Without too much difficulty, I was able to choose my eventual purchase - a short nightie with matching shorts and robe. I would like to say here that I was not told at the time of purchase that there would be no refunds - more on this very important detail later, which ultimately becomes the crux of the story. Although the purchase pleased my partner, sadly it did not cover the scars, so she made plans after Christmas to return to TNT to exchange it. The style needed was not available at the store, the owner of the shop agreed that although there was a demand for nighties for the more mature lady, she did not have a supplier, and the supplier she used did not vary much in the styles offered. Due to my partner's situation, there did not seem to be any other items in the store that would not make her feel self-conscious. Yes there were other types of pajamas, but it was a more elegant nightgown that was wanted. The owner explained that they do, from time to time, get other merchandise in the store that MAY be comparable to the original purchase, but she would not order in just one item of the style and size wanted, nor would she give a refund. The owner took the merchandise back, but would only issue a store credit for the value, which was nearly $200 including tax. The credit, in the form of a gift certificate, had an expiry date that was extended to July 2016. My partner left feeling less than satisfied, but promised to check back with TNT around Valentine's Day. On February 6, 2016, my partner and her friend returned to TNT in Orillia to look for another item. Again, there was nothing that she felt comfortable purchasing. The owner was there but was busy with, as was evident by the conversation, a 'regular' customer. My partner and her friend felt ignored, but waited patiently until the owner was available. She again asked, without going into detail about her situation, if a refund would be issued in light of the fact she could not find what she wanted. She was told bluntly that it was not the 'policy of the store' to give refunds. I can understand this policy when it comes to intimate wear, but this was a sleep set, and the owner had already taken back the merchandise in January. There was an exchange between my partner and the owner and nothing was resolved - only the suggestion that she keep checking back for new merchandise. My partner was treated rudely and dismissed. It was made clear that since we were first time clients, and she had been in the business for 16 years, she was not that interested in making us happy and be return customers. When I found out about this second trip, I went into TNT myself with the gift certificate and explained who I was to the owner. I was upset with the way she treated my partner and demanded a refund and was again told that this was not the store policy. I told her that since she had created the policy, perhaps she could make an exception, in light of the fact she already had her merchandise and our money, and it did not appear that there would be any items available in the future that would be appropriate. I pressed her on the refund issue, and she became defensive and asked if I wanted her to call the police as she felt threatened! I honestly didn't know what to say. At no point did I in any way threaten her physically or verbally; I was an upset customer looking for a resolution. She told me that my partner had been rude to HER and she would just have to keep checking back until she found something she wanted. There was no mention of perhaps calling us to let us know if an item had arrived, or calling a supplier to look for a similar item. The owner of this store fails to recognise that customer service, and the customer, should be top priority for a small retail business in a small community. She has repelled us and we will not be back. Our certificate has been passed onto someone else - I hope she has a be
