Where to begin.... My favorite Hotel on the Planet…read more I travel from SoCal to Europe each holiday season for 3-4wks, always celebrating NYE in a dif city. So I've stayed in a LOT of 5star hotels. All have been grand but THIS hotel outshines them all. I have been here before - quick stays as a 'sidebar', over nighters. But this time decided on an extended stay. It's a smaller hotel, less than 20rpoms in total. But each is elegant & comfy & welcoming. Our suite is beautifully arranged with gorgeous roof top views and a sun deck for the 4 rooms on our floor. The unbelievably gorgeous restaurant is by night the amazing Le Mystique (wonderful food, elegant atmosphere, and the kindest, most attentive staff!! A MUST!!). and a beautifully done breakfast buffet by when the sun comes up. Their specialty is poached eggs and OH!! Are they 'special'!! Charcuterie & Sausages & Bacon & breads & fruits & grains & yogurts & cakes & juice & coffee & Champagne round out the delicious menu. The location is perfect! A 3 min walk to the main market place, 5 min to the main shopping area, and dozens of restaurants close by. A local food market is across & a bit down the street & Belgium Waffles are a hop away. But far and away.. the thing that separates this hotel from all others are those who seem to love working here. If I could figure out how to rate a review with 6 stars, I would give them 20. To say they are accommodating would be a bit like saying winning a hundred gazillion billion dollar lottery is 'a pleasant afternoon'. I could spend hours, remembering the kindnesses & smiles & attentive acts and never feel as tho I have given them enough respect. They are truly all just spectacular. Thank you, Mr & Mrs Creytens for creating such a wonder hotel. We are honored by our experience.

I have never encountered a kinder, more attentive staff than that of the Heritage. The hotel location could not be more convenient. They offer valet parking, which feels necessary in Bruges, and for €30 a day - well worth it! The breakfast included in our stay also had champagne- yes- I said champagne. In the evenings a tray of port and sherry is brought to your room with a light snack as an aperitif, and gratis! The hotel restaurant - Le Mystique- was the superb fine dining experiences of my life. I cannot say anything negative about this hotel - it is just not possible. If I ever find myself in Bruges again, I will absolutely be staying here.

This was a large room was almost as large as a suite. The inside was luxurious and had L'Occitane products. The overall experience was so nice it felt better than a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was also high quality. Would stay here in a heartbeat if we're ever back in Brugge. It is also conveniently located to the Markt and Choco-story within a few minutes walk of everything.

You have to get directions from the front desk and park about a quarter mile away. Not too tough but if you miss the turn you will get lost like I did. Our room was on the first floor which I am never a fan of. People could see inside our room from the street in the evening when dark outside and light on inside so make sure to close the shades. Overall, the room is nice but not as nice as I thought it would be. In particular the bed wasn't too comfy and pillows were too soft. They have a cool lounge area with a fireplace to have a drink after dinner or late night. Very cozy. They also serve afternoon tea in the room if you are into it. My wife is so we did it. We came during Christmas so the market was going on which was fun if you want to try different seasonal food/drinks. It is right down the street. They also have a lot of chocolate shops and other souvenir shops nearby. It was a nice stay but for the price it wasn't the experience I thought it would be.

I got a hibiscus tea and my husband a black tea. The snacks arrived around the same time the tea did. The tea was in bags, not sure if that's their normal way or a COVID precaution but we are used to seeing loose leaf tea at afternoon tea. Not a problem, just something different. I loved my hibiscus tea and my husband loved his black tea. So that worked out nicely. One minor issue was that my teapot did not have a thing at the top to protect from the heat. So when I went to put the tea bag in the pot i burned my hand (not badly, but still ouch!) i assumed it was safe to grab! Oh well. On to the food - We had 3 different kinds of sandwiches: a salmon, an egg salad, and an avocado one. I'm allergic to shellfish so they gave us the avocado instead of their normal third choice. We got 4 scones - 2 regular and 2 raisin - with clotted cream and homemade jams. We then had an assortment of pastries. Everything I tried was good, I didn't even have room for the sweets! I preferred the raisin scone over the regular (which I never thought I would say). Overall it was a good experiences.

Staff member greeted us warmly and took our luggage and checked us in, he then walked us to our room in an adjacent building. Christmas trees and decorations throughout the hotel, like a Christmas movie. Rooms just beautiful, seems I did not take any photos. Dinner This place was just elegant. All staff were extremely polished and sincerely welcoming. Front of house manager seated us and made us feel welcome. Our waiter made us feel special and suggested that I order pheasant as it was in season and was their Holiday dish, I was going to order turbot. Another staff member also came to our table and checked on us was very attentive, he mentioned he was new. Local Belgian Beer served cold, nice flavor. Way better than beer in France which is not served cold. Scallops, wild mushrooms, fermented black garlic cooked perfectly, so much flavor. Scallops is one of my favorite dishes ever. Pheasant with fine champagne cream sauce, chicory root, cranberries. First time having pheasant. Missed Thanksgiving at home so it was like I was having it here with the sauce and cranberries that we so delicious. Filet mignon This monster was like 12 oz, never seen one so big could not eat it all, cooked perfectly medium rare. Came with béarnaise sauce ,fries and fresh salad. Plating It was like a work of art, beautiful. This was a perfect dining experience. This place is class, class, class. We were treated like royalty our entire stay by Duke's Palace staff.

One nice thing that separates this hotel from others in Bruges is that the rooms themselves are modern. They aren't filled with gold encrusted fake fancy furniture, but rather a clean modern aesthetic. This is one of the reasons we chose it. One of the staff needs a special mention: Benjamin, who is there in the afternoons, made our stay especially wonderful. He was always friendly and professional, and willing to help with what we needed (usually a bucket of ice!) We went to a great restaurant that we had not considered based on his recommendation (and he made the reservation for us) and had a car that was big enough for us and our suitcases waiting for us when we left on our last day. A huge thank you goes to him. The breakfast was also outstanding; not only were the pastries (so fresh, with a French attention to crispness and butteriness), cheese/meat, rolls, fruit selection and tea/coffee service wonderful--but the made to order eggs were as well. The ham and cheese omelet was soft inside and the pancakes were light but substantial. The chef himself brings them out and there is definite pride in all the made to order dishes. The breakfast room is extremely comfortable as well...we found ourselves lingering there for a long breakfast instead of getting moving like we planned! The room was comfortable with an unusual setup; we had a duplex room overlooking the canal with a sofa upstairs. Though it had a canal view and a nice one, it's worth noting you had to stand at the window to see it as the windows are high off the floor. We didn't end up using the upstairs much as there was plenty of seating downstairs in our bedroom area. But the spacious feeling was appreciated with the extra height in the bedroom area. The toiletries provided were also very nice. The shower was not tall in height, but the rain shower was great--lots of water pressure and nozzles. We didn't try the oversized tub. Everything was very clean, and continued to be well cleaned during our stay. It was a lovely stay, and easy walking distance to all the sights in Bruges. We're very happy we chose the Van Cleef.

Our journey began late at night, driving from Paris to Belgium, excited for a family stay at an Airbnb we had booked. On our way to our destination, we received a message from the host; the apartment had been canceled last minute due to it "not being ready." We were in total disbelief. It was 4 a.m., our kids were exhausted, and we suddenly had nowhere to go, in a country we had never been to before. Attempting to make the best of a bad situation, we drove to Brugge, about 20 minutes from the original location, hoping to find a hotel that could take us in. What we didn't anticipate was how impossible that would be. We must have called nearly every hotel in the area, all of them turned us away, telling us check-in wasn't possible until 3 p.m. We felt helpless and defeated. That's when Steve entered the picture and everything changed. Steve was nothing short of a miracle. With patience, compassion, and unmatched professionalism, he worked with my husband through a chaotic string of conversations and finally found us a room; a warm, welcoming space where our kids could finally get some rest, and where we as parents could breathe again. At that moment, we didn't care what kind of hotel it was, we just needed somewhere safe to land. But to our surprise, the hotel was absolutely beautiful. Steve didn't just help us find a room, he gave us relief, comfort, and kindness when we felt completely overwhelmed. His calm, courteous nature and his determination to help were exactly what we needed in that dark hour. We will NEVER forget Steve and what he did for our family. He was, without question, the light in a very difficult morning. To Steve -- thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are a true professional, a lifesaver, and someone we will speak of with immense appreciation for years to come.

This is a small hotel within walking distance of the market. We walked from the train station. That walk was about 1 mile from train station. All roads and sidewalks are cobblestone. It was doable but a little challenging with our suitcases. I paid extra for the breakfast and room with the view. It was so worthwhile. We often opened the shutters and enjoyed the view while sipping a nice bottle of French wine. This town is well worth exploring. It is very walkable with 54 bridges crossing the beautiful canals. The architecture is of 14, 15 and 16th century. Thank goodness the beauty was not destroyed by WW 2. As we are in our room you hear the clipity clop of horse drawn carriages taking tourist around this charming city

Annoyed that we interrupted his coffee and chat with some fellow in their food service area when we asked to check out. The room lighting was about as helpful as a candle. Very poor lighting. To me the town folks seemed annoyed at the tourists in general even though it appears to be the city's main source of revenue. The market place was full of kitch from China as were many of the shops. The food was atrocious. The beer is good, the waffles are great, the chocolate is divine. Would unfortunately recommend a pass on the hotel as well as Bruges. You can get their chocolate in Paris.
