You will usually find my coming out of there with a book or kitchenware, and if you don't it's because instead I've bought some crazy piece of art for a friend's birthday. Because there are pockets of Japanese, Indian and Jewish communities around, there are always lots of cool items to examine. Also a great place for cheap picture frames. The staff are ridiculously friendly and help as much as they can. The manager is so happy and it's like speaking to an old friend. I can even hear her speaking happily to the staff in the backroom- you would never know she was giving them tasks. The have home delivery too! Because sometimes you just can't lug home that gorgeous drink cabinet on your own.

There is all the basic stuff like cheap dishes, ugly keychains..everything you would expect. What is interesting about this place is that there is an Internet cafe upstairs. I found this rather interesting ,catering to the Pound shop market so much. A good idea, all around. One really good bit I almost missed...this shop has a pretty small soap section but they have Schwarzkopf mousse for 1 pound. I use it for the front of my hair.

And this…read moreparticular store here has served me quite well in the past few months: every time I'm in Crouch End, I pop in here and believe me when I say that I've almost always found something fabulous for my wardrobe: amongst others, there was a Hugo Boss cashmere coat for mere £35; a dress shirts from Pink for only £9 and an Agnes B. sweater for only £3! My verdict: there are many, many charity stores in London, but this one in particular is well-stocked and very well-managed.

Get inside have a look around and you have immediately found something that you want to buy. I love getting the really old style big jumpers because you can always find the really cool ones with the old fashioned style prints. I also love getting jewellery because you can find really good quality necklaces, bracelets and rings. Not forgetting how unusual they can also be. Normally I get pearls, I simply love the old fashioned tiny clasps. If you can't stand following a trend, and want to find something different, one word: OXFAM. Cool second-hand clothes it's as simple as that and most importantly your money goes to a good cause!

The North London Hospice shop in particular, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the tube, is really something special. Last time I visited I bought an original 1920s Assuit shawl for a mere £5. Five pounds! More importantly, the North London Hospice is a fantastic charity so purchases are helping a good cause. This seems like the kind of charity shop with a high turnover of stock so regular visits will likely pay off. A warning though: the friend I visited with had her purse stolen by a harmless looking old dear in the North London Hospice. Appearances can certainly be deceiving.

There is so much stuff in this treasure trove the V&A could probably fill any gaps in their collection if they knew it existed. This shop always has great bags and shoes. You can often find nice clothing here as well, although I think the bags are the most extraordinary. I didn't end up buying the Moschino bag because a woman with developmental disabilities spotted it as well and really wanted it. I told her how special it was that it was very nice and it was designer. I said it was the best bag in the world. The woman walked out of the shop with her carer not fully comprehending but knowing it was indeed a special bag. It was hard for me to let it go but I figured I had made her feel privileged.

Exclusivo is a designer second-hand thrift shop down a cute little alley in Hampstead. It's a poky…read morelittle shop crammed full of designer pieces for men and women. It's one of those second hand places that you have to root around in whereas i myself like it all to be organised for me so i can get stuck in straight away rather than breaking into a sweat rummaging through piles of crap searching for the beautiful dress that shouts out to me. I'm not saying there's a lot of crap in here as there are some gorgeous items but not everything is to my taste. They have a good selection of handbags, shoes and accessories too. They often have Chanel pieces in here as well as other big designer names and you can get them at great prices. Sometimes i find loads of things i like and some days i come away very disappointed having seen nothing but that's the nature of shopping and i love it.
