Renata's Kitchen (Oct 2025)
Sarah A.

Dinner at Renata's Kitchen was the perfect way to preface a Penn Live Arts performance with friends! Service was swift and friendly and food was fantastic. We enjoyed: - Hummus (fresh lemon, nabulsi olive oil) with grilled pita - Feta Dip (whipped feta, hot red pepper dip) with grilled pita - Wonderful zing to this dip! - Onion Rings (beer battered, harissa aioli) - A must order! - Tagliatelle (wild mushrooms, sweet onion, white wine) - So darn good! - M'jadra (spiced lentiil, bulghar pilaf, arabian salad, tzatziki) - Refreshing and flavorful bites. - Crispy Grape Leaves (tzatziki dipping sauce) - So unique! - Chicken Mohammar (overnight marinated chicken, sweet onion, grilled pita) - Order if you like fall-off-the-bones chicken. - Batata (crispy potatoes, harissa crema) - Kofta Flatbread (ground lamb, sumac onion relish, arugula, tahini) - Chicken Wings (smokey sweet & spicy sauce) Will definitely return to try more offerings and to get some of our favorites!

I have an amazing time every time I come to Renata's. Amazing food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great restaurant vibes![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love that they have Heineken 0.0 for a non-alcoholic option. I ordered just the hummus this time. I usually also order the cauliflower which was a huge miss on my part. But the hummus is always so fresh and creamy. Service was wonderful too! I had a great experience!

You'll find great Middle Eastern-inspired dishes next to the 40th Street trolley portal at this restaurant! I visited in a party of four for Sunday brunch, and we loved all but one of our dishes from the experience. My favorite bites were the short stack pancakes from my breakfast platter. They were fluffy, delicious with the topped fruits, and a perfect complement to the bacon and eggs. The soup was also filling, great for a chilly, windy morning. My friends also enjoyed their Avocado Toast, French Toast, and Breakfast Burrito dishes. The only drawback was the cauliflower, which unfortunately had too much sauce that overpowered the other flavors and textures. I felt that the service was okay, but could've been more attentive. I arrived a bit later than my friends, and it took a few minutes before someone came to fill my water. However, our dishes were served quickly despite the restaurant being full and didn't have to wait for refills or our check. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself also doubles as a great sports venue, with bar seating, an upstairs space, and plentiful TV access.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I noticed many flyers indoors and outdoors advertising watch parties for soccer season, including days for Premier League, Champions League, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I liked my meal, and would definitely be interested in returning for Happy Hour or game watch.

Lovely birthday brunch experience! It has a fun ambiance with very friendly service. Bekah was super sweet and I really liked her. My boyfriend and I split the House French Toast with the mango-pineapple chutney. It was tasty but I wish it had had a little more fruit (you can see in the pic that it was a little low on the berries. I know it comes with the chutney but I'd have loved more of both!). The shakshuka merguez was a knock out of the park though - so tasty! That was the better of the two although both were very good and worth ordering. Can't wait to go back!

Vibes: 5/5 - good outdoor seatings with a nice decoration Service: 5/5 - attentive Food: 3/5 just good, i need the food to have more variety than just having pita bread with every dish. Muhammara - so good with the pita Chicken swarma - you can get this from the carts, nothing wowish Turkey hummus - Cauliflower - meh. the sauce was too watery Wings - good, but too sweet Baba g - good. Nothing out of the ordinary

Renata's is one of several brunch options available in the UCity area. I came here for brunch with my friends while they were visiting for the holidays -- I've also heard good things about their happy hour. We had a pretty big party but forgot to make a reservation, but the staff were able to accommodate us so that was nice. The vibes inside are nice and cozy. The staff are very friendly and attentive. As for the food, it's solid! I liked the sandwich I got (Croque Madame) and also tried some of my friend's Chicken and Waffles; all of these were good. My one thing is that I found some of the entrees rather pricy. I also got a Rose Chai Latte which was great.

Maybe the best kept secret for happy hour? (4 to 7) Come here and order anything off of the starter menu. The fries, the cauliflower, the labnah, the beautiful cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If it is a nice night sit and sip and nibble while dining on the beautiful outdoor patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Order the blueberry crush cocktail. I did. It was fruity, boozy but not overly sweet. This is a good place. Anytime. But especially for happy hour.

This place is absolutely always a hit. They have a wide variety of Middle Eastern foods specifically Palestinian. I always come for their Kanafa. Today I had their rice and chicken with their potatoes and their service is always top-notch.

Absolutely amazing food, and great service. It was incredibly busy, but our food came out in a very timely manner, and everything was awesome.

Absolutely incredible food. The grilled chicken fattoush salad was the best salad I've ever had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute restaurant with good cocktails and nice servers also![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will be back

Needed a happy hour spot in West Philly stat, so stopped by Renata's Kitchen. It's a cute and cozy spot with a second floor (didn't get to see what was going on up there). The vibe gives a good spot to catch up with friends or a date. Happy hour isn't shabby with some awesome cocktails. We had the wings, batata, and spanikopita which were all L I T. I'll definitely be back, likely for happy hour.

Top to bottom: Turkish Hummus, Sumac seasoned French fries, Chicken Mohammar

No. We're heating the inside this year, with above standard air filtration and lots of fresh air exchanges. We also require vaccinations for all inside guests (and staff), and have a vigorous cleaning protocol.…

You are able to tailgate in the parking area...we brought some wawa hoagies and drinks to consume before going inside. We should've brought some lawn chairs to sit on while tailgating. Highmark is the new owner of the The Mann. They did some sprucing up inside and it looks great! The staff were all very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the show that we went to see. I did not get anything to eat but I got one drink...the large can of Bud Light Seltzer...for $19.80. Definitely the most i've ever paid for one of those. You can bring in with you: one sealed bottle of water or an empty vessel for water. My friend brought ice in her vessel and they didn't even look inside.

The setting is one of its biggest strengths. Since it's farther from dense residential areas, it feels like the kind of place that can really embrace large-scale outdoor events without worrying too much about noise. The lawn area in the back is especially nice. There's a gentle hill where people can spread out blankets, have a picnic, and enjoy the show. On a nice evening, it's a great atmosphere. For ballet and classical performances specifically, I had more mixed feelings. Outdoor venues naturally don't have the same acoustics as traditional concert halls or theaters, and I found myself wishing I could hear the orchestra more clearly. The performance itself was wonderful, but you lose some of that rich resonance and echo that makes live classical music feel so immersive indoors. The venue offers the usual snacks you'd expect, including popcorn, fries, sodas, and other basics. Nothing particularly memorable, but enough if you want a quick bite during a show. The seating is pretty straightforward. Standard plastic theater-style seats that get the job done. I also appreciated the large screens and production technology. For an outdoor venue, everything felt modern and well organized, and the screens helped make sure everyone could follow along even from farther away. My biggest concern was accessibility. I noticed quite a few older guests struggling with some of the stairs and inclines while finding their seats. It made me wonder how difficult the experience might be for visitors with mobility challenges. There are accessible seating options, but depending on where you're sitting, navigating parts of the venue could be challenging. Overall, I enjoyed my time here. It's a beautiful outdoor venue with a relaxed atmosphere, great picnic space, and solid event infrastructure. I probably wouldn't choose it over a traditional theater for ballet or orchestral performances, but for concerts and summer events, I can absolutely see why people love it. One final piece of advice: bring bug spray. Trust me on that one. Also, there's like a venue tsa out front, be patient lol

The burger at the venue is typically served with cheese. No biggie, I thought, just don't put cheese on one. I asked for it without. The lady at the register said she would need to grab a manager because it comes with cheese on it. The manager informed me that she would see what she could do because the grill person was in a mood. The feeling I got was that this would inconvenience the griller. She came back, told me she had taken care of it but that it would be a bit longer of a wait. About seven minutes later I had the burger in hand and it was so good! I made my way to the lawn to see the show and it was only then that I realized that my not arriving early and dilly dallying with food had created a huge issue. I couldn't actually see the band easily from any of the remaining spots. My wife and I squeezed into a spot that allowed me to bounce between the stage and the huge tv screen but she had to rely solely on the tv screen to see the show. Considering what tickets cost, I was a bit annoyed that a concert venue would have such poor sightlines. It's not all annoying. The Skyline Stage is cool because it is outdoors and has a great view of the city. The sound and ambiance are incredible. But, because of the poor sightlines, I probably won't return here for another show.

Claire (bartender) and Brooke (server) were both attentive and a joy to be around. The food was fantastic and was on a constant rotation so there was always something new and warm ready for my guests. The fried eggplant and zuchinni and mushroom pizza were massive hits (everything was but these were standout). We used the third floor for our dinner. The views of the Schuykill are second to none! There are fireplaces along the walls that provide a warm, easy-going ambiance. Along with the dark wood bar and comfortable lounge furniture in front of a tv (gameday?), it's been awhile since I've been in a restaurant that can create the exact ambience I was looking for. Thank you to Stacey, Randall, and the entire In Riva team for a delicious dinner and unforgettable experience!

They offer seating both inside and outside, and we chose the patio. Great decision! We enjoyed live music while we ate, which made for a fantastic atmosphere. I started with a Dimora cocktail, made with tequila and passion fruit. It was good, but it didn't quite steal the show. Now for the food. For an appetizer we shared a couple Margarita Pizzas, they were amazing! They also brought some bread, hint save some bread to soak up all that sauce let on your pasta plate! I ordered the Short Rib Gnocchi, and it was excellent, tender short rib, pillowy gnocchi, and a flavorful herbed wine sauce that brought everything together perfectly. Someone at our table ordered the Marry Me Tagliatelle, and wow... it was so good I'm actually glad I didn't order it. If I had, I might have gotten myself into trouble with my wife after spending the entire meal talking about Marry Me Tagliatelle pasta! The Ravioli was also outstanding and definitely worth ordering. The service was top-notch. Jessie was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu, making the experience even better. If you live nearby, what are you waiting for? Great food, live music, excellent service, and a relaxing patio--sounds like a winning combination to me.
