When I purchased my house it had Renewal by Andersen Windows. One broke and the replacement process was quite difficult. For some reason I require 1 window that was never replaced. The sill is rotten, time to go. I also figure why not replace a few doors at same time. I tried to reach the Kennebunkport/Portland location where my windows came from. It is somewhere between 100% and 1000% impossible to reach them to discuss in a normal manner. Ie can I send you a photo of window and approximate dimensions so we can discuss budget? Nope- the local 207 number goes to a data center that wants to collect all our information before an "IN HOME CONSULTATION". Knowing a sales pitch similar to a used car salesman I declined. So my house will be full of Renewal by Andersen, except for 1 window. I dont care if I put a piece of plywood over it. I won't deal with them anymore. BUYERS BEWARE: When you sign a contract with this company you have a 4 DAYS window to cancel. If you cancel on the 5TH DAY it will cost you 25% of the total project estimate. HOWEVER if the estimate doesn't meet their needs (for example - determined not profitable enough) they can cancel on you at ANYTIME with no penalty, and did exactly that to me. After two guys coming out to see the project I signed a contract for a window install. Using their financing partner for the 12 months 0% was easy. Unfortunately that required pulled my credit (not a problem if doing the job). Then 12 days later after a third visit they cancelled. To be fair they did return my deposit and don't seem like scammers but the process did cost me my time and hit my credit for them only to tell me they won't do it because they underestimated the costs of install. Then their "Sales Manager" calls me back after all of this to tell me how great they are. TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME! read more

Renewal by Andersen - Missing mullions - Windows Installation Near Me - Saco, Maine

We had three picture windows and three casement windows to replace. Renewal by Andersen sent someone out who said they could match the existing windows in the row with replacements. In short, the replacement windows did not match. The problem (which we were told afterwards) is that they install the new window frames INSIDE YOUR EXISTING FRAMES, creating a strange frame-within-a-frame effect that makes the new windows 5% smaller. Huh. We were not happy. Now we had a wall of windows with a jagged tooth appearance because of the two new ugly duckling double framed windows. We met with the rep again and he suggested replacing the rest of the windows at a discount. Ok, what choice did we have? Then things went from bad to worse. One picture window was completely botched because they tried tearing out the frame from the inside so now there was exposed wood sticking out on the outer frame. One casement window leaked the first time it rained. And then leaked again after repair (it finally stopped leaking the third time). The outside trim also has issues. First, it was not properly color matched to the rest of the house's windows, but it wasn't until the third time they came out that a technician said "You know we have a trim the identical color of your original trim." Of course by then we already had several windows trimmed in the off color so a single correctly colored window would have stood out more. The other problem with the outside trim is it's just....sloppy. Corners slightly ragged with visible dry glue along the edges. It reminds me of an art project by that kid in 1st grade who ate crayons. Not what I would expect for the price. I'll say the new windows are well insulated and don't leak (well, not anymore), but overall it was a painful experience and one I'd prefer we had avoided. read more

After having the windows installed. We have had numerous call backs to repair leaks water damage from not being sealed correctly. We get condensation between the top and bottom by the latches. On windy days you can feel a coolness. We have had numerous times that the tech they sent says I will have the service department call you. I should have asked what month! This franchise is performing like a business that's closed the doors and left town. We are about 3/4 of the way through installation of new windows. The installer drove off without a word. Materials are left in our garage. The windows are not sealed on the outside. The interior work is terrible. They promise to call back and have failed on five occasions. The automated answering machine is off, Windows installed by the same franchise several years ago are excellent and the installation was flawless. One of the windows was shipped without the specification tag - the installer couldn't verify that the product we ordered was the product we received. Need I write more? read more

Renewal by Andersen makes a wonderful product but extremely pricey. The company is all about sales, and the installation side uses shortcuts and their workmanship is terrible! They hire subcontractors that have different levels of installation experience. I had my entire home and gambrel garage windows and doors replaced. The installers used too much caulking, and in my opinion looked sloppy and amateurish look. Caulking smeared onto my deck as well as on my cedar clapboards of my home. I addressed the issue with the Team Leader of the crew, and he reassured me he would take care of the problem, which he clearly did not! In regards to the inside of my home, when installing the new Provia Steel Entry Doors they damaged the sheetrock in several areas of my home, and once again used too much caulking on the windows. Due to the poor workmanship of this Company, I had to spend additional funds to hire my finished carpenter to complete the job. It was not what I expected from Renewal by Anderson and all the hype about their reputation. A business that weighs success by profits and does not provide extraordinary customer experience. The company sent Andy, a long time employee of their company to my home NUMEROUS times to address the issues I encountered during the initial install. It is obvious to me; the company does not communicate effectively, specifically management with the installers. Often times Andy would arrive at my home without the necessary parts to complete the job, only to return on another date. I would arrange for coverage / work from home to accommodate his visits. Finally, I reached my breaking point and communicated with the company giving them one more chance to complete the job to my satisfaction or I was going to seek legal counsel. I strongly suggest you avoid Renewal by Andersen, find another company that strives to please their customers, and are satisfied with a fair profit. Renewal by Anderson just installed TWO sets of French doors in our home. The original doors were only ten years old but were poor quality when this house was built. We were fed up with ice and water coming in the house and we knew we had to act ! The Anderson representatives came to us and spent time explaining and showing us everything they had to offer. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE! We ended up choosing custom made doors to replace the original two sets....gulp! Very very expensive....and my initial reaction was ...should we? Well....my husband wanted to go ahead, so I jumped on board.... When Mark and Tim came to install them..(20 degrees out!) I knew RIGHT AWAY that these fellows really really knew what they were doing....Mark has been with this company for over 16 years...he was amazing... Efficient, clean, dependable....experts all around.... SO.....BOTTOM LINE..... EVERY DAY I LOOK OUT THESE DOORS AND SIGH! We ordered a bay window in Fall of 2021 with an install date of March. At the end of February Anderson called I figured to set up installation. Nope it was to ask what we ordered, all the details. Which I thought was odd (they lost our order) then they moved the install to June. July arrived and heard nothing from them so called our sales rep and he stated they lost the window frame It's a bay window very large frame, and if we had not called they never would have contacted us. So now we have an install date and the business day before we get a call, what color are the shingles? The organization of this company is terrible. Our sales rep really tried to get the issues resolved once he knew there was a problem. We actually were told when we asked why don't you know the color of my shingles your installing on Monday, "what do you want from me we are just trying to get your shingles." They stated they were sending their best installer because of all of the problems we encountered, and I have to say they did a nice job and the window looks good. The glass itself is smaller because they build the frame then put windows inside of them but if it lasts as long as they "say" it should I can live with it. When we were sent their survey the first question is How likely are you to recommend Anderson to a friend then told us this question reflects directly on the installer who did a great job. I would not recommend Anderson because for the price you pay it was not top notch service it was really crappy service. The only thing that went right was the installation. I thought that was a way to get a good review from a bad situation. So I didn't fill out their survey and did this instead. They did give us concert tickets and a gift card for all of the trouble but people should still know honestly the experience others have had. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We recently had a custom made bay window by RBA installed in our home. From the time of completion we have had nothing but trouble with the company living up to their reputation. We had to have the entire vinyl trim redone as it was sloppy and not covering entire area. The roof that was needed to cover the window hadn't been completely shingled, they left 2 rows at the top blank. Our very decorative Oak finish we chose for the interior was perforated by nails and their answer was to pound them in, sand it, use wood putty to fill hole, sand again and then finish as needed. I literally spent time on the phone, sent so many emails up to and including Jim Lang who runs the operation. They refused to remove and replace the window every step of the way. I now know that the sales side of Renewal by Anderson is totally opposite from the installation side of the business. Sales promises 100% satisfaction of the product and process to get you to buy, then installation side uses shortcuts and work arounds to save profits. Just another typical business that weighs success by profits not customer satisfaction. I would run fast and far from using or recommending Renewal by Anderson to anyone looking for window work of any kind. They employ wear you down tactics if you have complaints you want addressed. Communications with the office were frequent, welcomed, and needed because of one day delay in start date due to complications at previous job site.
