From the owner: Trinity Presbyterian Church was officially organized in 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, the…read morefirst church in the small town of Reeseville (later named Berwyn). The founding members were local farmers, artisans, and their families, predominately Scotch-Irish, who had settled here and longed for a place of worship in the community. The first pastor was the Rev. John McLeod, Philadelphia District Secretary of the Board of Foreign Missions. He had recently taken up residence on a nearby farm and gave the site for the church building from his land, laying out the intersecting streets as well. Rev. McLeod became the first minister, serving as "stated supply" until 1864. The Church has an extensive history, and more details about the history can be read on the Church's website. We are also pleased to announce that in celebration of our 150th Anniversary in 2013, a book called Trinity Remembers has been published. The book is full of history on the church and the town of Berwyn.

A beautiful, well-kept, ritzy little Main Line cemetery filled with lush trees and surrounded by a…read morelow brick wall. Spooky gravestones mark the resting place for wealthy Main line citizenry. Deeper inside is the famous statue of 'mad' General Anthony Wayne; of Revolutionary War fame. For years, the tradition for local teenagers was to slip over this rampart on 'Mischief Night' in October and hesitantly make their way as far into the darkened grounds as they had nerve for. Because the legend was that mad ole Anthony Wayne's ghost could at any moment come charging out at them, at full gallop, astride his rampaging ghost horse. MLUC is my 3rd Unitarian church, as we moved, and we have been members for 4 years. There are many people with many faiths and spiritualities, as well as agnostics. We discuss spiritual topics intentionally, but to me it a place of people who want to improve ourselves so we can improve the world. It is a congregational church, which means the members choose the Board and the Minister. The minister has a contract with the members through the Board of Trustees. I am on a couple committees. I am sure that we have not reached our potential as a congregation, but I think that most of the people I speak to, at coffee hour, at pot-lucks, hiking on Saturdays, and at our weekly, socially-distanced indoor services, are sincere in the desire to do more to fix the injustices of the world.
