So while in France we thought it'd be nice to be able to carry us and some of the in-laws all in…read moreone car. So we reserved what the French consider an enormous car, a seven passenger van. We land in the freezing rain and I hustle out to get the car. A stick!! This is one of the richer nations of the world. It's also a nation where rain, and snow and ice are common. And this is a van! About the homeliest vehicle on the planet. But we're in France and I guess even homely drivin', slippin', slidin' renters want to shift their own gears. OK I can use the practice. We head out of our first long trek and it's time for gas. Hmmm. Nothing on the fuel gauge, nothing on the key fob, nothing on either side of the fuel door, no gas cap at all, no insignia on the rear that means anything. Guess it's unleaded. Wrong guess. An hour down the road we stop to pee and the car won't start. It's freezing cold, the wind is blowing and it's an hour before dark. Tow truck guy confirms nonchalantly, "It's Diesel". Wonderful! Now it's a tow truck to his shop, half a dozen frantic calls to the rental agency, nearby hotels, train stations and taxis. Then a taxi ride to the hotel, a quick night's sleep, inconvenience my nephew for a 45 minute drive the wrong direction to pick up a replacement car to drive another 4 hours to our original destination. We got it figured out and Sixt got us a new car but it would have saved them damage to their vehicle and would have saved us an extraordinary amount of time and aggravation if they had just put a "Diesel" sticker on the car.

This after it was impossible to opt for a refuel penalty of 28 euros on the app in advance which did not work and the local area having an unleaded fuel shortage . I am so glad I waited to leave a review. In retrospect, I should have known there was a reason the…read moreassociate was pushing me to leave a good review while I was still in the branch. I rented a car from this location a few months ago. A couple months later, they emailed me a bill for alleged damage. I informed them I had video proof that the car was in pristine condition upon return and provided them with video. They failed to email me clear, detailed photos showing this damage. Each time they email me a photo of the car with NO damage. I have gone back and forth with them and they are total scammers. After researching online, I am now aware this story is all too similar. I have read copious amounts of customer complaints exactly like mine. They bully customers into paying extra fees with no burden of proof. Avoid this rental company all together.

Just as an FYI Sixt is renovating their offices so understand you have to walk into a courtyard off 10 Rue de la Paix to find the location on your right hand side, fairly easy to find. We arrived around 9:30AM to get our rental car which we had reserved weeks prior. Prabin Shapkota greeted us with a great upbeat attitude. He was very informative and helped ease any anxiety we had about renting a car. I usually never get the protection or road side assistance, this was the first time I did. I didn't want to break down in a location in France with no help especially with my family in the car. The peace of mind it had was well worth it. We rented an AUDI Q5 SB 40 and it was the right decision. Most cars are very small in France and Europe and I am 6'3" which makes picking a car very difficult. This car had more room than I needed and was quite luxurious. The car had some damage to the door and a small chip on the windshield, all that was already noted on the contract. The car drove great and was a diesel, there are many fill stations on the auto routes and they all had a diesel option. Upon returning the car after hours you have to take the car to a parking garage that is just up the street. If you are looking directly at the rental location you first rented from, it is just downt] the street to the right of 10 Rue de la Paix. It is an underground parking garage on the left hand side as you enter it is very narrow so take your time. You will go to -2 floor as you drive down. When you get to the return floor you will see Orange Sixt signs on the wall to your left -as seen in the photos. Park your car and don't forget to leave your parking tag from the garage on the dash. Then you will see the elevators to your Left if you park on the wall and backed in like I did- see pictures. Then you will see a bright Orange Sixt key drop box it's impossible to miss. Then you're all set. Just wanted to give another bit of praise Prabin Shapkota for making this experience stess free and he was willing to help every step of the way.
