We have Republic service for our business. They keep adding extra fees to my monthly service. It started out being $258 a month to empty our dumpster 2x a week. My last couple bills have been closer to $900. I called around and found a company that will offer the same size dumpster with emptying 2x a week for $159.75, and a set rate at that! When I called Republic, they asked for a copy of the quote, which I provided, in order for them to match the price. I have called and called and been jumped from one person to the next, and finally today was told that they won't price match. They lost not only our personal business, but also our professional business. Unless you like paying WAY more than you were originally quoted, then I DON'T recommend Republic Trash Service!! UPDATE: The company contacted me after 2 phone calls to customer service, 1 by me and 1 by the president of the condo association, 2 reviews including this one, and one chat message on the company website. You can read their response below. A smaller bin was dropped at my home the day after. __________________________________________ Dear Jon Vander Ark, President and CEO of Republic Services, You've taken my bin again. I have a small one and I want it back. I understand you've discontinued the smaller bins in my area. Is it cheaper to outfit your trucks to work only with the larger sized bins? Based on the online feedback for you and your company, I can only assume customer service is not on the priority list. Since you're in Pheonix, perhaps you need a reminder that it snows in Indiana, making it very difficult and dangerous for a senior citizen to handle one of your large bins to the curb. I've already called your customer service line and they're powerless to help me. They can only replace my bin with a large one. I don't want it. I will do everything in my power to get my condo association to eliminate your services. I'm so disappointed in you. Your yearly compensation of $9.84M is simply a waste. I put my recyclable container out on Thursday night for a Friday morning. Pick up. It is now Saturday afternoon June 15 and it is still out at the curb. I have to bring it back up. I have no idea when they'll ever come to pick anything up anymore.. very poor service! They can't even call to let me know that there will be no service in my area leave me guessing all the time and when they will be my neighbor had the same service as me, he got tired of it and now has Borden and both his trash and recyclable are picked up on Tuesday mornings! read more

I'd give 0 if I could. ***Every single time*** they say a holiday will impact your trash by ONE day, they don't come until your regular day the following week?!! Do you get to pay them half as much for coming half as often as they are supposed to? No. It is now 2 weeks since they've picked up my trash and I've had to pick it up from my neighbors' yard multiple times. I've called them 3 times; 3 times someone just gives me some line about how they'll be there today. Since last week. Trash is still here. This company is the WORST!!!!! They have missed my recycling the last two times. They said they would come by tomorrow. We will see.

I have had Republic services for over 7 years. During that time I never really had any severe problems. Recently though Republic lost the contract with my nearby town. Ever since then quality of service has dropped big time. Used to be if service was going to be delayed I would get a text message stating it was being delayed. This allowed me to not have the trash cans sitting next to the roadway where they could get damaged and or tipped over. Now within one month my pick up has been missed twice. I used to get picked up in the morning like clockwork, now it is late in the day, if it gets picked up at all. Lately I never received any text messages. When my pick up was missed I contacted Republic to let them know I was missed. They assured me the trash would be picked up the next day. Next day came and gone with no pick up, no text. I called again only to be told they would pick up the next day. Finally they did pick up. On one occasion during the one and only really cold and snowy day I received a text stating my pick up was being delayed a day due to the weather. They did not pick up the next day and did not pick up until the following week on the scheduled pick up day. I called up and complained. They did reimburse my account $12 for the missed pick up, however this did not help with the now two weeks of trash sitting around. I found another trash company that offered better service for cheaper price. When I called Republic to let them know I was canceling service with them, they informed me I would have to pay $76 for them to pick up their trash cans. This seemed insane to me considering these were Republic's cans not mine. When I asked them why I was responsible for their cans, they stated it was on the back of every bill sent out that the customer are responsible to return the trash cans or pay a fee to have Republic pick them up. I stated I never signed any contract agreeing to this. They stated that by paying the bill I am agreeing to a verbal contract. I returned the cans. BEWARE Republic adds items on the back of their bills that they can change at any time without notice and say they are verbal contracts if you pay the bill. I was never told this when signing on with them. There are lots of varied reviews out there on Republic Service and I encourage anyone that is thinking of using them to read them and form your own opinion. In my opinion for whatever it means, I am very disappointed in the way their service has changed for the worse, and after the recent dealings with them I would never recommend this company to anyone. Same issue it appears all the other reviewers had. It is now 19 days since garbage was last picked up. Daily calls have led to the same "we'll pick it up tomorrow" but that hasn't happened 4 times already. The customer service people are nice enough, but the local service here in South Bend is appalling. I have had Republic for 2 years, they charged $80 to drop off a trash and recycle can. Then when I cancelled charged $80 to pick them up!! The company we are replacing them with, provides the cans at no charge at all. Republic's monthly isn't terrible but at least once a month they miss our house and when you try to get them to come back you have to keep calling and cust service will say oh tomorrow we will, until it's pick up the next week anyways. Yet, they don't refund when they miss your pickup. The truck put a hole in my trash can and they never did replace it even though I called 4x. If you can avoid using Republic, do yourself the favor and go with ANY other company!! read more

I have never had such a crappy trash service in my life. My Fianceé and i Bought our first house in the beginning of May, it is now July 7th and Republic hasn't taken my recycling once. We called and Got hung up on when we were asked if we wanted to speak with a supervisor. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, and We will be canceling our service. Also if i could give this a ZERO star rating I would. But I have to give it at least a 1 to post this. read more

They charge us $48 a month and only pick up half the time. Our pickup is Monday's and here it is Tuesday and I received another call saying they weren't able to pick up today. Borden is only charging $24 a month for the same service so I'm switching. read more

Awful. We had them for years until we realized how much more expensive they are compared to everyone else. It wasn't abnormal for them to skip us every so often on pick up days. Cancelling service with them was even a bigger hassle and took MONTHS to cancel. Literally any company is better than Republic. Do not use this company. read more

I paid for one full year of trash service beginning in April of 2019, was billed again in December. After speaking with multiple agents was told I only paid for a partial year and apparently had decided to over pay as I had a credit on my account still. My services were suspended!!! So we are on day 2 of not having our trash picked up. Monday's are our schedule pick up day. I called Tuesday & spoke with Gwen in customer service. Very nice & polite. She stated that the truck broke down in our area & service is one day behind. That our trash would get picked up later that day. Trash still not picked up. Called back this am & spoke to another Lady in customer service. Also very nice. She stated that she would call the driver & get our trash picked up today. Still not picked up. Will call back again tomorrow. This seems to go smooth for awhile with having the trash picked up with no issues. Then we have situations like this. Happened often at our other house with not getting trash picked up on the schedule date. Think I am going to call other trash services & get quotes. read more

Horrible service. The drivers are incompetent (they leave lids up on the containers even in the rain/snow) and lazy (they won't get out of the truck to close the lid). The container is left well out in the street many times as well. Customer Service is not responsive. After having complaints ignored, I looked at Borden and found they were significantly less expensive. Now if I could just get Republic to pick up their container, I would be completely done with them. They give me a date and then change it without telling me. STAY AWAY FROM REPUBLIC! read more

PRICE GOUGING!!! This company is literally GARBAGE !!! I have never been so disgusted. I have used this company for my weekly garbage pickup since it was called Allied Waste. Ever since (over the last two years or so), they have gradually increased my rate up to almost double what it is supposed to be. It started around $90 and ended up at $150, until I tried calling anonymously to see what the rate actually should be. Of course they knew that I already had an account because of caller id. When I explained why I was calling, the person said "oh yeah, your rate should be $70". They immediately reset my rate and gave me a small credit for my last invoice but refused to credit me for all of the previous, unexplainable price gouging. I set up service with a better company and when I called to cancel my service with Republic, they offered me a rate of $50. When I refused their lame attempt at salvaging a long-term relationship, they said they were going to charge me $30 to pick up their container. Really????!!!! Haven't you taken enough of my money? I will be happy to pay it so I can be done with these thieves. To be fair, they were good about calling to reschedule pickups during holidays and bad weather. If you do business with Republic Services, keep an eye on your bill and question every increase. read more

I call and report they say they will pick up and never show up. After only one pick up in four weeks I am done having to call and email to try to get trash picked up. Poor customer service called 4 times to have recycling container removed because it was never emptied. I come home from work to find my trash container was removed from property low and behold the recycling container stood its ground. After calling several times about this matter. No compensation was offered just a week and a half of no trash service on top of the recycling issues. Very frustrating and a very strong lack of competence with customer service. I was lied to by several different operators on several occasions. Very unsatisfied changing services immediately. read more

Poor customer service, have called the last two weeks trying to get them to pickup my trash; they always have an excuse. They always tells you they will pickup by a certain end of day never show. They tell us the truck broke down. Now they are telling me they are not picking up this week but will pickup by the following week.
