Every year I spend over an hour getting billing errors corrected. We have been loyal customers since 2006 at our businesses. They went up on their prices and also made it quite difficult to execute a pick up weekly for trash. They accidentally picked up one of our trash cans and then decided to try and charge us $40 to bring the bin back. That was the end of that road and we decided to cancel our services. To be fair, the service and quality is very good. However the price for the services (weekly trash & bi-weekly recycling) keeps getting higher with no real explanation besides 'fees' that seem to fluctuate mysteriously. This quarter's bill was $257, last quarter $261. We are retired and on a fixed income. Can't continue to pay this fee for one bag of garbage a week and bimonthly recycling. Hate to loose recycling service but why can another LOCAL service provide weekly pickup for $25 a month and a national company charges 4x as much? The employees actually doing the collection service are great, never had an issue with that, but based on customer service and business practices I would stay far away from this company. In February of 2022 my bill for three months was roughly $100 compared to $200 in August of 2025 when I finally cancelled. The cost slowly increased without warning each billing period to double my original rate. I can understand a cost increase, but not double the rate in 3 years. Getting in touch with them to cancel the service was difficult (phone calls with long wait times). Once I cancelled the service I turned off auto-pay and removed the credit card information from my account, only to be billed another $200 anyway for service that was cancelled and I had to make yet another customer service call to request a refund. When I cancelled the service, I was told there would be a $35 charge to pick up the trash can. I then received a bill for $57.18. After another call to customer service, I was told the additional $22 charge they added was for admin and fuel/environmental recovery fees. Nothing I could do about it. It took them 10 days to pick up the trash can and I still have to pay almost $60 for that trash can pick up to close out a service I was cancelling because the cost was too high. Horrible company to deal with. After 3 years of their service, I kept seeing my rates increase until they had completely doubled so I decided to shop around. I found a provider at less than half the cost. When I called them to cancel, instead of asking why or making any attempt at all to retain me, all they did was to tell me they would charge me an additional $60 to pick up the trash cans. Rip offs. Republic /waste management/ of Murfreesboro.. we pay and pay for trash service and service fees to the water department for trash service. not able to dump anything related to construction whatsoever. I am running into trouble getting rid of trash from cleaning up and updating my home as a homeowner. this intern puts strain on builders from illegal dumping in their receptacles. the hours of operation for construction material dumping is not convenient for homeowners or contractors in the area. and there has been blatant disrespect from the drivers of this company that service dumpsters as well. I have had them run over nail guns ladders compressors levels with no care or reimbursement of such tools.. There is a need change of operations within this company and middle Tennessee. along with that being said, the cost of dumpsters have almost doubled in the past and being harder to operate and dispose of materials properly contractor or homeowner, which intern puts unnecessary cost on the contractors from illegal dumping in neighborhoods and on job sites because of this situation. and there needs to be more recycling in especially in big cities because of the growth . read more

Absolutely worse company. Pick ups are missed more times than not, they tell you it will be picked up the next day and doesn't, always have to wait until the next week. As of today, our pick up was missed last Tuesday and as of today (the following Wednesday) it still has not been picked up! Their excuse is the truck broke down or driver shortage. I've had hit and miss with customer service, most have been understanding and are being told incorrect information about missed pick up dates. In addition, Republics trucks are a POS. They have leaked oil all over our neighborhood, left puddles of oil while stopped to pick up trash cans and even broke down at the entrance of our community with liquid flowing from the truck. They have made no attempt to contact the HOA board member when she calls about resolution. Save yourself the headache and look for a different trash service. read more

I just called to cancel pick up service for the end of this month, August 31. After completing the end date of service, I was told there will be a $60 fee to pick up the containers. I think it highly wrong to charge that fee when a fee was charged at delivery and then a fee monthly to pick up trash and use the containers as that's built into the quarterly charge. Most expensive service in this area. Several independently owned smaller trash companies in town that offer both valet service and multiple pickups a week for less money. When you are cancelling service they force you to keep their cans and service for a full extra month. Today is December 13th and they said they could not cancel my service until January 12th. Total bull crap. No "ability" to cancel any day sooner. Crooks. Take your money elsewhere. Read the extreme amount of one star reviews on Yelp, BBB, Google...across the board they are taking peoples money without permission, horrible service and do not listen to the negative reviews or make any changes, despite the huge amount if cancellations. OMG! This is the worst trash and recycling service I've ever used. Republic is so unreliable I had to call customer service so they pick up my recycling which the skipped for three weeks. And then they told me a manager would be calling me to improve our relations. Guess what? No one called me. After I canceled the service they sent me a quarterly bill which I called customer service to dispute. The nice CS person stated they would prorate my account and send me another updated bill to which I told her I only used their service for SIX TERRIBLE WEEKS and that I don't want to pay them any more money. So they followed up with ANOTHER bill stating they would send me to collections if I didn't pay this marginally reduce bill. I paid it only for them to send me a THIRD bill asking me for $65! WTF!?! The trash can is always thrown in the middle of the road when I go to get it after they leave. I am pretty sure it got hit atleast once before. The customer service is not great. I finally found someone else who was way cheaper and way better and when I called to cancel they told me since I was the one who was canceling service I had to pay a fee for them to come and pick up their trash can after paying a $50 delivery fee when I began service less than a year ago..... will not be back and will be telling everyone not to go to them either. read more

I was a very loyal customer for 7+ years and when I requested to cancel service because their rates jumped significantly, they charged me a "$30 cancellation fee" that they refused to waive. I work in the service industry as a VP and I'm all too aware of how some companies add additional fees to offset drops in margin. I will make it a mission to not recommend this company. Worst Company ever!!! Account was closed for what they say was non payment, even though we paid the ridiculous amount of $204 every 3 months for service. They came and picked their can up and still continue to bill $40 per month for what they say is a trash can removal fee even though I had 2 representatives tell me that the account was paid in full and closed. 2 sometimes 3 days late on picking garbage up, switching days of service with zero notification. The worst customer service I have ever encountered. I've worked as a manager in the customer service industry and if I gave this type of awful service people would not come back. Tuesday is my pick up day and I put my trash out by 6:00am and I pulled it back in by 8:30am since I was originally told when I signed up 1 1/2 years ago the driver will be by between 6:00am and 8:00am at the LATEST. They said the driver showed at 11:17am, and that their window is 6:00am to 4:00pm. I called BS on this because I was NEVER told this. I called and asked for a pick up and I pretty much got the "pound sand" answer, which pissed me off. NOT ONCE have I ever missed a pickup and I asked for an exception and they pretty much said NO. Guess it is time to start looking for another trash collection agency since this one is worthless and lies. read more

I've had these services for going on two years at this point. When I had originally signed up the service was $45 per month. Last year they increased the rates to$85 per month and now this past billing cycle it has gone up to over $100. At this point I feel like my money is better spent with a private service or I will be hauling my own trash to the FREE county dump. I hope this helps other not get taken advantage of. read more

I signed up for $60 every quarter, but was hit with enough fees that my bill was $90! I called to cancel my service only for them to give me the run around. After contacting customer service, I got a credit to my account for the "mixup" with my administrative fees, so I'm happy now. I've never had a missed pickup (knock on wood), and I love the all-in-one recycling. If I could give zero stars I would!!!! The driver has broke our can multiple times and then we were billed for damaged cans several times. We videoed the driver sliding the can with the mechanical collection arm, braking the wheels off the can again a few months ago and submitted the video to our local branch. The branch replaced the wheels on the can, but never apologized or stopped billing us for the can damage. Additionally they always seem to miss at least one pickup day every few weeks. When we first started with Republic Services several of our neighbors told us to cancel immediately. It seemed strange to my wife and I so many neighbors had hatred toward a trash collection company. But after two years with Republic I would highly recommend to anyone "Do NOT use Republic Services"! read more

FEES - FEES - FEES! I started out with Republic (after they replaced Allied in our area) at a rate of about $50 per quarter, which was very fair considering that I live right around the corner from a trash collection point for our county. Then, quarter after quarter, each bill comes in with a higher and higher "Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee." I call - they adjust it back down - next quarter, it's going higher again. I'm talking 47% over a 3 quarter period!!! On top of that, they slipped in a hike on my "Residential Services" rate...another 12%! This time, I called and they said "Sorry...we can't adjust that fee this time." So guys and gals, if you want a garbage collection service that's going to keep costs reasonable and steady, look elsewhere. Updated review: Still pleased with them after almost a year! We were County Disposal customers for almost 2 years before everyone started having problems with them and they went out of business. It was difficult to find a new garbage pickup service, because it seems like they all have bad reviews! We ended up choosing Republic Services because our neighbors said they had been using them for a long time without any major issues. I must say that after only a month, I am very impressed with them. I can pay online, they are easy to reach over the phone, and they have very friendly customer service. This morning they went above and beyond, compared to any other waste service we have used in the past. They had been coming to pick up our can in the afternoons all month, so we were not consistent in putting our can out the night before. This morning when the truck passed our house at 9:30, our can was not at the road. I had my son run outside to bring our can to the road, just in case they came back. Well the driver did come back down the other side of the road, passed our house, picked up the cans on the road adjacent to us, and came back to my road just to pick up the can that he noticed had been put out there too late. The driver did not have to do this, and I was so appreciative that he came back. It would have been easy for him to blow us off because it was our fault that the can wasn't at the road. read more

I wish I could give these guys a 0 Star rating. They are absolutely terrible to work with. They miss pick up days, don't notify you, and then come on a random day. Example, my pick up is on Fridays. With a holiday that week they will come on Saturday. We had to learn this the hard way because they won't tell you. However, they didn't come Saturday, but instead said they are coming on Monday. It remains to be seen and we had to call into find out. When you call to inquire, they treat you like trash and make you feel as though you are bothering them by calling in with a question. Two weeks ago trash was not picked up and we called to find out why and were told that their truck had broken down no problem. The next day the trash had not been picked up and when we called to find out why we were told we had not taken the trash to the road soon enough although it had been sitting there since the previous day and had been taken to the road at the same time it always was. We were told we we would have wait another week for pick up or pay $158 for a special pick up. We waited and took the can to the road a day early however still no one came by to pick up our garbage. Again we called the customer service rep asked if anyone else with Republic had their trash picked up. Since we have no idea we were not able to provide that input. Today we came home and found the garbage can missing. We contacted them once again and were told it likely fell into the truck but they would not be able to bring us a new can for a week. Since they have made this our problem to deal with we have canceled our service and contacted and another service. What was refreshing is the new company was very helpful and super apologetic that it would take a couple of days to get us a our garbage can. So they clearly understood what customer service meant. read more

I called requesting service as my husband and I had just moved out of the city limits. I was told that we would have a trash can "delivered within 5 days and usually sooner". When the 7th day came around, I called and was told it was scheduled for 3 days prior to that and then realizing that wasn't possible because I was telling them I didn't have it they changed their minds and said it was scheduled for delivery that day. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS, THEY ARE THE WORST. we're in the process of moving & rented a dumpster for friday since everyone has the weekend off & has the time to clear out the house. i cleared my schedule and waited ALL day for it show up and never did. after all that waiting, i called customer service only for them to be unaware of anything that was going on & could not/refused to transfer me to a supervisor. after insisting that i stay on hold and wait for a supervisor, they finally transferred me to someone. i explained my situation and she told me they had pushed my drop off date to monday!
