Myself, a friend and a neighbor all needed soil for a community gardening project across our 2…read moreyards. We decided 3 yards would be enough for the three of us to split, so we called DBL in Nanaimo (10th St. Location) and ordered their premium soil, delivered. $237 total. I went to their offices, paid a very nice lady who provided great customer service. Got my receipt and left. Later that day, A small dump truck arrived and dropped the soil. (I had asked and was denied to have half dropped in my neighbors driveway, but they wanted another $50 to make another pile. Fair enough, I guess.) Everyone involved kept telling me "that's not three yards. No way.". So I called and asked if there'd been a mix up on my order and was told "I don't know what to tell you. You got three yards.". Not much I can do, so I let it go. Not happy I paid for three yards and got 2, but it is what it is. Businesses earn their reviews. Since there wasn't enough soil to complete the project, we ordered another 2 yards from Milner group, also in Nanaimo. I ordered two yards this time, and had it dropped in my neighbors driveway. $130, delivered. THAT pile was equal to, if not larger than the load DBL brought me. Not to mention, the DBL soil was full of wood mulch, while Milner's product was just clean soil with no filler. So, in the end, DBL was more expensive, shorted me a yard of soil, and wasn't at all interested in actually coming to look at the product they delivered to determine if it was a full 3 yards or not. Their product was filled with wood mulch, and wasn't very good quality. This will be the last time I ever do business with DBL again, and will never recommend them to anyone. I do not work for - nor have any affiliations with - Milner group. Just comparing the two products and the prices paid. The customer service was just fine, but at the end of the day, I didn't get what I paid for. If I'd gone with Milner in the first place, I'd have the same amount of soil and still have an extra $100 in my pocket. Robb McCaghren Nanaimo BC.
