Goku Kitchen - We are a Dragonball theme restaurant in Staten Island and selling dumplings and dim sums.

We decided to come to the Staten Island location because I saw that the manhattan location is very small and I just thought it would be easier for parking here as well which is a plus. As we walked in on Labor Day afternoon, there was only a table of customers so although the restaurant is is small, they were able to easily accommodate my party of 7. The menu looked good with a lot of comfort food from Hong Kong and I had high expectations after reading the reviews online. After we placed our order, I attempted to go to the restroom only to find out they don't have one and I was directed to go to stop and shop 2 blocks away. This is apparently legal but unacceptable IMO given they offer dine in option. I came back 25mins later after going to a very disgusting and smelly restroom which made me lose my appetite, the food was already all out with my family almost done with their meal (hence my photos of the food have all been digged in). The portion size was small but the main issue I had was it all seemed like reheated frozen food from the super market. The scallion pancake was oily and dense, the wonton noodle came out with the Shanghai style noodles instead of the egg noodles as shown in the photo and they told us they ran out of the egg noodles. Just how bazaar is that? They should've just told us it's sold out. The wonton was tiny and tasteless. The braised beef noodles was however decent. The noodles were al dente, the beef were tender and flavorful. The Roti itself wasn't as flaky as I would like but the curry sauce was surprisingly good. It was creamy with a hint of coconut taste and just the right amount of kick to it. The dumplings literally just taste like the frozen ones from the supermarket so there's nothing much to comment - it's edible. Overall, I think this is a cute themed restaurant we would go once just for the experience. It's convenient with parking but not having restrooms available is a turn off. The food was below average and I would probably not return again. So go if you are a major dragon ball fan and would just like to experience it. Just don't have any expectations for the food.

It was about 25 minutes away from where we were but the great experience here made our drive worth. The place is very homey with a wonderful staff. Service is impeccable. The owners are very friendly and has great customer relations skills. The foods are excellent. We had the pleasure of trying their bangus sisig, pork bbq and caldereta. The tastes exceeded our expectations. We learned that their chef hailed from Luzon so the degree of cooking style satisfied our taste buds. The calamansi drink I had was fabulous. Honestly, the best I had so far. Our halo/halo dessert was heavenly. Satisfied our sweet tooth. The serving size is in huge portion. Each order is shareable by around 2-3 people. Pricing is higher in comparison to other place but proportioned to the serving size. I have one star less for my review for two reasons- 1.The check includes a service charge that confused us if a gratuity should be given or not. We need to Google first for right information. We ended up adding gratuity for their hospitality . 2. Looking for parking spot is challenging. We ended up downloading the town's parking mobile app to get parked closer. We are willing to return if ever we are near the area.

Staff is friendly and warm, seems like a reservation heavy establishment but we were able to snag a table for 4 upon opening. Shortly after arrival the rest of the tables of 4 and even 10 filled up quickly. The dishes are huge and we left with plenty of leftovers. Happy bellies with meals made from the heart. Spring rolls 5/5 what a huge plate! Crispy and delicious. Bulalo soup 5/5 really hit the spot. Piping hot and could feed all 4 of us as a side or 2 people as a dish. Beef noodle soup (5/5) (had a bit of sweetness in case folks aren't into that) it was incredible tasty, ample meat and veggies and packed with flavor. My girls shared this and still had leftovers. Kare kare oxtail (5/5) anther awesome dish, heavy peanut flavor, loads of veggies (love!) and definitely had leftovers Would absolutely come back and highly recommend. Simple and hospitable space for small and large parties, would suggest making a reservation.

    ## Review: Zero Stars for Zero Accountability **Title: Avoid…read moreQuick Grill Japan - Incompetent Management & Missing Food** I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ordered two of their "2-for-1" deals through DoorDash, expecting four items total. Instead, I received only two. When I called to resolve the "mistake," I was met with the most unprofessional "manager" I've ever encountered. Rather than taking responsibility for a clear fulfillment error, the manager told me it "wasn't his problem" and told me to take it up with DoorDash. He then tried to gaslight me by claiming I had to manually order the items twice to get the deal--which is mathematically and logically nonsensical for a 2-for-1 promotion. I even tested this logic with other restaurants nearby; surprise, surprise, that's not how it works anywhere else. The manager's refusal to acknowledge a simple screw-up resulted in me spending an hour on the phone, frustrated and hungry. While DoorDash eventually stepped up and provided a refund, the restaurant itself showed zero integrity. **Bottom line:** If you enjoy paying full price for half your meal and being told it's your fault by a manager who clearly doesn't understand the basics of customer service (or math), this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far away. They should be ashamed. **Never again.** Kevin R
