Dan just posted a complete lie about me and my review. First of all, I can't read blueprints. I can look at a floor plan and get a good general idea of what the house will look like. I assumed the blueprints were good all based on the floor plan. I never made one single change to the plans so there's a huge lie. When I presented the blueprints to the first builder and got an estimate on building, I asked why the cost was almost $100,000 more than what I expected. He said it was due to the ceiling height being 10' instead of the 8' that I requested along with pricey canned lighting throughout the house, the window style was a side-to-side slide instead of the standard windows that open/close vertically. And he had 22 total windows in the house instead of an average 11 or 12. When I reached out to Dan and explained all the flaws in the plan, he said he would charge an additional $400 to change things that he inserted without my permission. When I then told him I would change my review of him because of the many flaws and his overcharging me to fix his mistakes, he immediately dropped me as a client and said he would not make any changes. I since got a builder and got him to make the changes to the blueprints and the cost of the house was reduced by about $85,000. That savings was 100% due to Dan adding things he felt was more what he would want in a home, not what I wanted in MY home. Do not believe the lies. I personally don't believe the 5-star reviews but I can only comment on my personal experience and it was not good at all. If I could roll back time, I would definitely have made a much better choice for a draftsman. read more

We recently used Residential Draftsman Service and I highly recommend Dan to anyone considering these services. Some architects/engineers charge nearly $150 per hour so his rate is not only a good value but his help is outstanding. He is always quick to reply and obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. Dan even came out to the property to view the lay of the land which helped me to determine the placement of the house on the land. We also appreciated his communication and advice with questions that were new to us. We now have our final drawings and hope to start building this winter. read more

We contracted with Dan to develop the construction and electrical plans for a recent home renovation. In a very short time, he produced draft drawings for us to review and modify. The final design package Dan produced was high quality and very comprehensive, enabling us to gain our building permit quickly. I've never previously considered writing a negative review of any company, and I work hard to not talk badly about others. So, I've struggled with determining how to help others make an informed decision about hiring the right draftsman without talking badly about this company. I decided the best way to do this is to share the letters that were sent to me by this company, but this site will not allow me to upload those photos. So, I'll just say that the company agreed to refund me my money in full. However, after waiting for 3 weeks to receive that money, I received another letter that ignores their previous commitment to refund my money and threatens legal action if I speak about my experience with this company. You can see these letters on other online reviews. There are many inaccuracies in these letters. However, I will not waste time refuting those (most of which I have written evidence to the contrary via emails), because I think it best to allow this company's own words help you make your own decision about whether or not you would like to do business with a company who talks to their clients and handles themselves in this manner. Total con artist!!!!!! Stay away!!!!!!! I was hired to do drawings for a project he's obviously not qualified to do, and I did and he refused to pay for services. He says he only charges customers $20/hr for drawings, but that's unheard of....he has a problem paying for professional designers doing his work. I would not recommend Residential Draftsman Services, Dan Wentworth. It was a waste of our money, and a waste of our time. Dan did not take responsibility for his mistakes until we were ready to find services elsewhere. He then said he would correct the mistakes and move forward with the project, but before we even had a chance to respond, he terminated the contract. Leaving us with 2 weeks and 475 dollars lost, and further delaying the acquisition of the loan to start the construction on our house. We expected more from a company who exclaimed they were Christian owned, and assumed we would be treated fairly. His behavior was not professional and I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. We initially sent him a rough draft version of our floor plan for pricing. Along with our notice to proceed with the work roughly a week later, an updated floor plan was attached to the email, with updated file names. When he began to develop the plans for the house, he did not bother to open the updated plans and continued from the original set. We were able to identify this at the first submittal review. Once we informed him of his mistake, He attempted to correct it. Unfortunately, he missed key differences between the rough draft and the updated version. This resulted in half of the house being incorrect. Even though it was clear that the inconsistencies in the revised submittal still stemmed from the use of the rough draft, he claimed that this was "part of the process" and wanted us to pay for the continued work. It was our view that since he did not open the updated plans, the mistake was not ours and we should not charged for the correction. Three days later on Saturday, after getting quotes from other draftsmen, we contacted him to inform him that we had decided to go a different route. At this point, he said he could start working on the corrections on Tuesday and would be able to finish them in a couple hours for no additional charge. He asked that we sleep on it and let him know on Monday. Sunday night, he sent us an email terminating the contract. read more
