I regret my decision to stop by here. It started with me stopping in and I was greeted by a kind man. I asked if they did dip powder manicure and was told "yes. Just find the bottle you want." So here I spent over 10 minutes looking through over 100 bottles that were not identifiable besides picking each one up to see what color it was. Then began my manicure or should I say massacre of my cuticles. After a 2 hour process, I walked out with every single nail-bed bleeding. Throughout the experience I continues to jerk back and tell the woman doing my manicure I was bleeding she just kept saying "it's ok. Almost done". Now I've had my fair share of cuts throughout a manicure but this was ridiculous. I am never coming here again. "What day is 4th of July? Friday?" they asked. "No, 4th of July is is Thursday." "Yes, then we're open on Friday." With that confirmed, I booked an appointment on Friday July 5th at 9:30. Morning of, I call them to see if they have availability because I was gonna take my husband there for a pedicure while I got my nails done. No one picked up. We pick up breakfast on the way, 15 minutes to my appointment. Call again. No one picked up. We arrive at 9:35. The OPEN light sign is turned off and the store is completely empty. Are you freaking kidding me? I called three more times. Of course no one picked up. I had come here once before and got a pedicure and it was great. I came in again just wanting a polish change and a 10 minute shoulder massage. They looked at me like I was crazy. I told 1 lady what I wanted then she went and got another lady and that lady got another lady. They told me I would have to wait 2/3 minutes. I waited 5. And they didn't check on me or anything. I had a doctor's appointment I had to go to today and had some left over time to kill before getting there so I stopped by the closest nail salon I could find in the Rice Village area. The shopping center isn't the prettiest but once you walk into the nail salon, you're greeted by some very nice interior. I came to this salon pretty early, it was around 9:50ish AM. On a Thursday. Business was very slow, it was just myself and some other lady getting a manicure. I came in wanting to get a Spa Pedicure, the person that attended to my needs was Kathy. Kathy was pleasant, not much of a talker, which I'm totally fine with since all I wanted was to relax. Any time I get a pedicure at a salon, I have always been used to having salts added to the water my feet soak in. But at this place they did something I have never seen before. They added sliced pieces of lemons and cucumber, and rose petals. That was different! I appreciate the attention to detail Kathy had with my feet. She didn't rush anything. I felt appreciated! This place was empty when I came and the lady was really nice. I had a man and he was really accommodating to all the questions I had and all the adjustments. I asked him to fix several things and he did so very nicely. Although great customer service he lacked the knowledge to actually do the color powder nails. I asked for white color powder and although he knew it the method and way he actually applied the powder was wrong and weird. I told him to fix several mistakes. He initially had the shape correct except he glued one of my nails in the wrong angle and said he would fix it. He needs a bit more practice before doing these again in my opinion. read more

It's not worth it. I went because I bought a groupon voucher, and from the moment I walked in, I wished I'd never bought it. Let me preface by saying that I drove 40 minutes to get here. I had a 3:00 appointment with Randy, and I brought my mom with me as a walk in. She was getting a mani-pedi, and I had an appointment for pink-to-white nails. First of all, the receptionist was VERY rude. She was snappy, and often got mad at us for not understanding her. I feel bad, but her accent is difficult to understand! I was being nice too. Anyways, my mom was sat down for her pedicure, and NONE OF THE ITEMS WERE SANITIZED. They just wipe it down with a rag before and after use. Also, I DIDN'T GET MY NAILS DONE UNTIL 4:00. I WAITED AN HOUR WHEN I HAD AN APPOINTMENT. I argued my way into a complementary pedicure, and my left big toe cuticle was cut, and it stung throughout the treatment. At 4:15, Randy walks in, and hurriedly starts doing my nails. There were many mistakes I had to KEEP CORRECTING, and my manicure still came out sub par. My ring finger on my left hand was cut as well, and the nails are not only uneven in length but in thickness. This store doesn't feel like a nail salon but like a front for something else. This place has a lot of colors and seems nice, but their service was not that great! The lady who did my mani was really nice but the pedicure was horrible! The lady didn't use a dead skin removing foot scrub at the bottom of my foot AT ALL and didnt remove ANY dead skin...she used her pumice stone with lotion and barely touched the bottoms of my feet...she must have done like 20 seconds per foot...and then used some gel with beads all over my foot. It also took her AGES to put on my nailpolish. I'm all for taking one's time and doing it right but she took so so so so long, and made so many mistakes and kept cleaning it up that i felt like my nails would look like a mess in the end. She also didn't use toe separators even though i had an apparent need for them. She didn't even put some in after i clearly specific that one nail was hitting another toe and messing up. she finally stuck a piece of cotton in between and then had to go back and fix the messed up toe. ALSO, they say its $28, but that is a LIE! My mani & pedi were $35 TOTAL, and NOT WORTH IT T ALL! I always trust Yelp reviews, but this time I felt so cheated. I will never come back here! I called ahead and specifically asked if they could take an after 6pm walk-in for pedi and solar refill w/ colored tips changed and was told yes. I arrived like three mins after 6, was immediately sat in a spa chair, had lemon slices and rose petals literally chucked into the basin and then I was left to sit there for almost 20 minutes. I didn't get much reading done because all of the fruit and flower petals kept getting sucked into the vacuum part, causing awful sounds so I kept trying to clear them away with my toes. I will say the pedicure was a job well done but my refill was terrible. It looked worse than what I came in with. The new tip color was applied unevenly with my nail showing through in some spots. Also, many flecks of powder got onto the pink part, weren't cleaned off and ended up there permanently. I now have MOLD on two nails because the refill was not done properly. The acrylic was not ground back far enough and moisture from the cuticle soak got trapped underneath the old lifted part when the new acrylic was applied. So not only did I have an ugly obvious refill, it couldn't be missed when the lines turned dark green a week later. I didn't even notice the bubbles until after I left the salon. I wasn't surprised when my card had to be run twice because something was left off and she tried to get me to adjust the tip. Ha, good luck with that. Almost forgot that I got my eyebrows waxed too, they double dip. read more

Went there to get my shellac removed and get a new coat put on. The service was ok. A bit hurried yet long process. I walked out annoyed and bothered. I grew my nails out only for the guy to cut them very short and not even keep a consistent shape. I have a few very square nails (which I hate) and others with a rounded square. My shellac started to flake off two days after. After paying $40+tip I do expect my shellac to last more than regular nail polish AND at least good shaping. Lets not even talk about the LACK of hand massage included. Today is exactly a week later and I have nothing on my nails. BIG waste of time and money. Please know, I came once here for a pedicure and it was fine, not anything extraordinary, however, this review pertains to their waxing. I came in for a full leg wax and there were several things that were unacceptable. 1. The girl lined the bed with newspaper which ended up sticking to my legs throughout the process and leaving ink on my skin, which washed off eventually. 2. Halfway through the session the outlet that the warmer was plugged into stopped working, so she plugged it in across the room and had to keep walking over to it. Not a big problem , but it did leave the floor sticky and some dripped on my arms which were not supposed to be waxed. 3. When she was finished, she used a wet towel to rub the wax residue off of my legs, but this was ineffective, and my pants stuck to me the whole drive home and it left bits of wax on the inside of my pants. 4. But I have to say that the biggest problem was that she did not change applicators, but kept dipping the same one into the wax. This doesn't seem sanitary to me, and I have been to other salons who do not do this. This is the same wax that is used on people's bikini lines. Double dipping the same applicator, while cheaper for the establishment is unacceptable. The staff was friendly, but for $70 I would have expected a little more luxury and not so much yikes! read more

The same nice guy did my nails and I forgot to get his name. He's the slender, hip looking one with glasses in his 20s. He is quite good with the pedis. My friend asked for French tips and maybe it was just the person she got. But I noticed it was the short cut version. No base coat, no base color. Just white tips with a top coat. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $5. (Another extra if you get it on your toes too) $20 pedicure in the loop is still a steal! read more

The first time I came tot his nail salon was because I just so happened I had a groupon for the restaurant Chicken Kitchen next door. i really needed a pedicure so I decided to walk in there. There was only a few people there. The friendly front desk guy (Who I think is the owner because he was there on my first visit) did my pedicure. He was very nice and did a superb job on my pedi. i especially liked the hot towels. I was impressed that he uses a small paint brush to go around each toe removing excess nail polish. He did it very slow and precisely. The nail technicians are very friendly and look fairly in good spirits, they are not rushed or hurried. they don't really talk to you. unless they need to adjust your foot. The lady I had the second time I went , was very friendly and smiled alot. She would adjust/hold my foot then say " Put your foot Here, no this way, turn that way, put that one in water." then smile and say thank you. By the way the Mani/pedi is $28.00. WOW!!! I In Rice Village!!! WOW!!! I just get a pedicure $20.00 The one thing i like about this place they always offer a beverage Water or soda. I've never seen anyone with Wine. To me that's a great thing. They have about 10 manicure areas and 10 pedicure areas. There is only one TV and its to the right of the pedi chairs. So you basically have to turn your head to your right like you're staring at your neighbor. We made an appointment for 6 and straggled in at different times around then. It was Monday evening and they weren't busy, so they were very accommodating. I had my eyebrows waxed and while it's a bit odd because the waxing chair was in the back but not in a private room. The wax turned out fine! I got shellac/gel? manicure and the regular spa pedi. The foot baths were filled with lemon and flowers- very exotic! The lady doing my feet was efficient and thorough. The young woman doing my mani was an artist! I had a picture of what I wanted (straight lines on the ring fingers and a heart). The last time I had someone do a similar design, I ended up with three wiggly lines that looked like they were made by a drunken sailor. Here, however, she took one look at the picture and told me it was very easy. Not only that but she took her time and made it look good! I was (and still am) impressed. The salon itself was neat and clean. It's a pretty cute place. The pedi stations had a massage chair that leans back, colorful pillows, and plenty of arm rests. I've been coming to Resort Nail and Spa in Rice Village for a few years now. It's got a really convenient location for any Rice students living on or around campus. I've never had to wait for any services -- they seat you right away, which is nice. The interior is decorated with soothing colors, pictures of hand models with perfect french manicures on beachy backgrounds, and glass jars filled with different colored bath salts. On my most recent visit, phoebe and phin (not sure how to spell her name) did such a great job with my mani/pedi, with wonderful massages and warm towel wraps. They were both really kind, gentle, and thorough. I'll start by saying that I really want to give this place 3.5 stars....that being said I popped in today for a mani-pedi and liked what I saw. This place is very clean and relaxing....I loved the salon itself and will go back for that reason alone. Another plus was the supped up nail drying machines! As others mentioned....for $28 bucks it's a steal!! On the other hand the person who did the pedicure wasn't as detailed as I like on the buffing and trimming of cuticles but she was nice and accommodating. My manicure seemed rushed and I can't stand that! There wasn't anyone else waiting but it was 2:30 and I feel like she was itching for a break. In addition, I had to wait at least 20 minutes before I was seen, no one else was waiting but they only had 4 people working. So this is your typical Houston nail salon i.e. in a strip center w/ decals on the windows for advertising but it was just a few steps up from the ordinary.
