Swedish Meatballs in Sweden! Better than IKEA although IKEA's aren't bad!

Great stop for some Swedish Meatballs and some good Beer selections. Used YELP to make the decision to come here due to the reviews and ratings. Traditional Swedish fare! Highly recommended!

Oh my, the meatballs were nothing like the Swedish meatballs I have had in the US. If you're visiting and want to have some excellent meatballs, eat here! Helpful service when trying to pick out a dinner from the menu. The food came out quickly. I would definitely come back if I were in the area again. The lightly pickled cucumbers were perfection as was the lingonberries and mashed potatoes. The locals were telling me to get the meatballs as well as they said they were some of the best around. Very cool interior in an extremely old building. Even if you aren't looking to eat, it would be a nice place for a drink. I ate outside where they have heaters to keep you warm.

Called Saturday around 4 for dinner reservation & they were completely booked. We decided to stop in around 7:30 to see if anyone cancelled. We asked & there was one party ahead of us and it could be about 30 minutes. We were seated around 8:20. A little longer wait but we had a beer (Halsta Lager) while waiting at the bar. Looks like after 8 is when tables open up & they are open til 1 am on Saturday. Now for the food-I've been here a few times now & try something new as everything is so good. This visit didn't disappoint. We started with Whitefish Roe & a Small Beef Tartar (we created a surf & turf appetizer). The Roe was excellent and unique as placed on a potato chip. The fresh Tartar mixed nicely with the egg, caper, onion & horseradish condiments. For main, we ordered the Sirloin Steak & Pork Belly. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection (medium) & the mushrooms & Bernaise sauce took it over the top! Loved the Parmesan fries also! Pork Belly was decadent, salty & you could say a filet of Bacon. Sauce also took it over the top. Yet another outstanding meal experience! Can't wait to return!

After being in Copenhagen for a few days, we were ready to try out Malmö. We didn't have any real plans except explore the area. We didn't have plans where to eat either but on the train ride over we started to plan and found this spot for traditional Swedish food and SO glad we did. In short, the kindest, warmest meal with the same kind of service. It's a nice warm hug on a cold day and filling to get you going for the rest of the day. L O C A T I O N Pretty much in the heart of the downtown area of Malmö. It's not too far from all the main sites like the two different squares and easily walkable from the train stations. I N T E R I O R It's a bar with a small side area with just tables though the bar area also has tables! All wooden inside with lots of old paintings of goodness knows who, but they all looked regal. I'm sure they were kings or queens or dukes/duchesses. M E N U We came in for an early lunch but it soon got really busy as this seems to be the go-to spot for a lot of workers. They had a lunch special which everyone seems to get and it was relatively cheap. The prices on the menu were so much cheaper than in Copenhagen. We were here specifically for the meatballs so that's what we shared. You can also get free lingonberry juice and water which again...surprise as in Copenhagen everything seems to be not free. So the meatballs came with all the traditional fixings: lingonberries, cucumbers, and mashed potatoes. The meatballs came in a gravy. This is NO Ikea Swedish Meatballs. It was so delectable. Everything was so rich and flavorful. Get a little bit of all the sides with a bite of meatball and gravy and it was just heaven. S E R V I C E After getting cold and unfriendly service in Copenhagen, I wasn't expecting much but wow....our server was such a sweetheart. He was super nice and explained how lingonberries can only be found in this area of the world and gave us the drinks even though we were unaware they were free. He was like...this is on the house. He was a slightly older gentleman and a gentle man he was. I would go back just to have him serve us again. O V E R A L L The service was spectacular. The food traditional and you know it's a good spot if locals climb on in for their specials. Definitely going back here again if we're ever back in Malmö and maybe we'll try more traditional food or the lunch special. It was quite a memorable experience and so glad we found this place.

Veal meatballs with cucumbers, lingonberries and mashed potatoes

We visited Sweden for one day, and traditional food that tasted great was a MUST for us. This restaurant came highly recommended on yelp and it didn't disappoint. There was both outdoor and indoor seating to choose from. Menus were both in Swedish and English, which made it easier for us Americans to order. I got a draft beer to drink and a large order of the Meatballs. There were five meatballs with this order, so I'm not sure how many come with a small plate. The meatballs came with a side of mashed potatoes, cucumbers and lingonberries. The meatballs were veal and were very flavorful, but the sauce is what absolutely killed it in my opinion - it was to die for! Service was quick and our waitress was very pleasant. As we were sitting there multiple guests had to be turned away for the restaurant being full the rest of the night due to reservations - so either visit earlier in the day or make sure you reserve a table to guarantee a seat! This meal made my Sweden visit that much better!

Meatball always come up in my mind when people mention Swedish food, so I had to try it during my trip to Malmo. After some research, I decided on Tva Krogare for the authentic Swedish meatball experience. The place reminded me of a cross between traditional steakhouse and pub. We ordered meatball and pork belly. The server was very helpful in recommending a local beer to go with my meatball. Pork belly was meaty and salty, but a bit rich with the gravy. The meatballs were probably the best I ever had. Even though I had them quite a while ago, I can still remember the taste. Moist inside with a nice exterior layer to seal in the juice.

Fried pork belly and veal meatballs in whisky cream sauce. Yummo.

We were looking all over for traditional Swedish food in Malmö and so glad we found this place. This restaurant has been in operation since 1896 so it has that old feeling inside. There's a reason why it's been around for so long--the food is delicious. We got there a little after 5pm and outside terrace was already at full capacity. We ordered classic dishes: fried pork belly and veal meatballs in whisky cream sauce. Fried pork belly was so flavorful with a nice crunch. The meatballs were juicy and the whisky sauce was amazing. Even the mashed potato was incredible. We cleaned our plates short of picking them up and licking every last bit of the sauce. Service was super friendly. People dining there were from the neighborhood so it had a nice family feel. This made our last meal of the trip memorable. Thumbs up!

Even though we were almost 15 minutes late to our 1pm reservation, we were still greeted warmly and seated right away. And I DO recommend a reservation; apparently our table was also booked at 3pm and 6pm. Our server came by with a good, dark Swedish beer and an uninspired cider (Somersby..) very soon after we ordered. Unfortunately one of the glasses was cracked but was quickly replaced and so was the cider. We only got to enjoy the ambiance and being watched by a portrait of Henry VIII for what felt like only a few minutes before the food came to our table. The service here is so fast! Of course we had to try the meatballs, and they were delicious. Due to the speed with which they flew out of the kitchen, I was afraid they'd be dry and tough from sitting under a heating lamp. But they were tender and very moreish, going very well with the whiskey sauce and the creamy mashed potatoes. My friend wasn't crazy about the lingonberries than came with the dish, but I thought they were a necessity. I opted for the day's special; beef steak with bernaise sauce and a pork filet with mushroom sauce. Both steaks were tender and juicy, especially the pork! I am not crazy about bernaise sauce, so I mostly left it alone. But the mushrooms were wonderful. My dish also came with a little pot of pan-fried potatoes and onions, which were a little greasy but seasoned well and tasted nice. The food here is filling and comforting and perfect with beer! But the service is what gets the extra star. Before arriving, I inquired about a few things by email and they were replied to within the hour. The only thing I could possibly fault the place for is being dressed like a pub and not having a respectable cider. But I can easily forget that and I would love to come back.

I don't know where to start, but everything was amazing. The food was very delicious and if you are looking for traditional Swedish cuisine, here is the place to go. The decor was very pleasant and it seemed that local frequent this restaurant often.

I've never had Swedish meatballs besides IKEA which I thought were ok and overhyped. I was excited to try authentic Swedish meatballs for the first time. This place was a bar type restaurant. The dish had five meatballs with gravy. They were a decent size and at first I didn't think it would fill me up but trust me it was plenty. The sauce is so good I basically licked the plate clean. The mash potatoes were creamy and the pickles and cranberry sauce was the perfect addition to the meal. It was so good I'm going back before I leave. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it. The appetizers were also tasty. I recommend the sill.

We went to Malmö on a day trip from Copenhagen, and couldn't leave without trying Swedish food. We searched all over for traditional Swedish food and so glad found this restaurant. Their food was delicious as well as the drinks. It was packed. We barely found a table. It was full of tourists and locals. We got our drinks fast but waited a while to get the menu but it's understandable because we could see how busy they were. We tried their salmon and meatballs. Both were delicious!

We headed to this pub to try out the famed meatballs. We were not disappointed. We also started our meal with a decadent fish bisque and another member had the bacon with onion gravy and new potatoes. We all agreed it was the best meal we have had in a while. Service was very friendly as well.
