Being born and raised in West Texas, I tend to be rather wary of establishments outside of the state claiming to provide an authentic experience, especially this far away. But, needing a taste of home after traveling and working around Europe for the previous two months, I decided to take my chances on this place after stumbling upon it.
Although hopeful, I kept my expectations in check having experienced many restaurants that can only provide their interpretation of whatever specialty they offer. However, the Texas Longhorn pleasantly surprised me!! The tables were all booked at the time I arrived, but bar seating was available. The menu read acceptably Texan (i.e., "no-bean" chili) with a nice selection of steaks and typical Tex(-Mex) fare. The beef fajitas were as good (or better) than most, served sizzling on bed of grilled peppers and onions on a cast-iron griddle, and accompanied by the usual assortment of sides, the guacamole and flour tortillas being surprisingly fresh and tasty. The side of chili I ordered was not spicy, but very flavorful, although it's made with chopped beef rather than ground beef. And their Texas-labeled draft beer, although not from Texas, was an acceptable approximation.
All in all, I had an unexpectedly pleasant experience...the fajitas last night and the ribs tonight were spot-on!! To whomever is responsible for bringing this little bit of Texas to Sweden...thank y'all, thank y'all, thank y'all!!! read more
