This unpresuming gem does not proclaim itself loudly from the outside.
Fortunately, it is the inside that counts.
As I had presumably done something very bad in a previous life, I had spent a month of two in Basel. I had given up on being impressed by a restaurant and had lowered my expectations when I came here.
But, there was a decent wine list. I enjoyed the relaxed, hospitable atmosphere with neighbours and was very impressed. The simple starter of cheese, ham and olives was simple, but very good.
The venison, with a thick gravy, with red cabbage, chestnut, plum and pasta was a genuine treat. read more
