A colleague had spaghetti with 'pfifferlingen' (tasty wild mushrooms) that also looked good and that for once was not smothered in cream sauce. Another colleague had grilled octopus which seemed to have just the right crispness. Prices were OK, and we were offered a small starter (oyster mushroom soup) on the house.

The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We did the full multi course dinner and enjoyed several of the dishes. We were at the restaurant for 3.5 hours which was a little long for our taste after a long day of travel, but we felt well taken care of. The plating of the different courses was stunning. A lot of the flavors played really well together. We're big fans of steak and unfortunately we were disappointed with the wagyu filet at Carmelo Greco. The wagyu filet was from Japan and should've been the star of the show and stood on its own with little to no other ingredients. There was only one other gentleman in the restaurant so pretty much had the whole place to myself. Their tasting menu offers 7 items (including dessert) and you have the option to choose from 3-7 items. Overall, the meal was good and each dish was creative, making it exciting to eat. My favorites from the menu were the scallops and the trout. I didn't quite understand the parmigiano "flan" as they called it. The orange-espresso reduction sauce clashed with the spongey cheese flan... there were just too many strong flavors going on in the dish for me. I'm thankful that Carmelo Greco was able to accommodate my last minute arrival, I was there till almost 11pm despite them closing at 10pm. The only downside of my experience here was that there were a few little flies that kept bothering me throughout my entire meal. One eventually landed and died inside my wine... it was very distracting to have to constantly swat the flies (and looking like a crazy person). They kept landing on the bread and onto my wine glass.
