I visited this restaurant again last week and was bitterly dissapointed. It has now changed hands and as a result has changed the menu. It is now nothing more than a basic restaurant offering basic food to the guests staying in the lodges at the other side of the lake. The food is tasty enough but not a patch on the old restaurant..what a shame!!! I absolutely love this place. It is a small restaurant (seats about 30) with external seating in the summer months, covered to protect you from the heat. It is actually a restaurant to support all the chalets on the other side of the tourist lake but the restaurant still stays open in winter, even when the chalets have closed down. The restaurant is almost portacabin in shape but actually looks more like a log cabin. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious, I tried frogs legs here for the first time and was surprised just how fantastic they taste. Whether it is steak, snails or other French delicacies the food has never failed to impress. I am so surprised that such a small place 2 miles from the outskirts of a small country town can manage to get hold of, and keep, such a good chef. The place is a little bit more expensive than some of the other establishments in Nontron (the local town) but well, well worth the extra expense. This place is even better than the Hotel Pelisson for a price/taste ratio. A culinary must if you are in the area. read more
