We had been visiting the nearby Roman aqueduct when we realized we wanted some lunch, and stopped in at this place. It was a Monday around 1 PM (a little early by local standards), so the restaurant was empty, but the host was friendly, and the dining room looked inviting.
The menu is fairly typical Spanish food, with a few interesting variations. They do offer a fixed menu with starter, main course, and dessert, but we opted instead for the appetizer sampler and a few main courses. For the appetizer, the waiter suggested the fried artichokes, which were an absolute highlight of the meal. All of the appetizers were excellent, including the special onion fritters. For our main course, we had the rabbit and artichoke paella, and the corvina (weakfish).
They offer a kids three-course menu, and our kids loved their meal of pasta bolognese and chicken cutlet. What they especially loved was the playground outside, giving us a much more relaxed time to enjoy our own meal.
The restaurant isn't really near anything, but it is just off the highway and has lots of parking. So if you have a car and are looking for a place to stop for a high-quality (but reasonably priced) meal, I would highly recommend Les Fonts de can Sala. read more
