First, the surroundings are absolutely magical--you're perched facing the mountains above teal lake Lucerne, the whole of which is bathed in a silvery moonlight at night. The view from the private patio of the yurt is a panorama of this, and from inside the yurt is a snapshot of the lake and mountains, a stunning way to wake up. Ideally located--a quick 20 min train to Lucerne and right across from the many trails up Rigi (we took a scenic cable car part of the way up). But most importantly, Silvia is the most friendly, sweet, welcoming host. She went above and beyond in making sure we were taken care of, making fantastic recommendations for our day trips and inviting us to spend time with her family (and answering my many many questions). Her husband and children were equally charming and so sweet and gracious. The food was spectacular, and exemplified the emphasis on quality of this region of beautiful farms and greenery. Every bite was special, sliced pork rippled with buttery fat; fragrant, fresh cheese; cream-like yogurt; we could go on. We have stayed in many Airbnb's, and this was by far the best experience we have ever had! We just left today, and are already figuring out how to come back :)

The room had a great tub and fantastic iPod docking speaker/sound system, I tuned it to 93.00 Swiss Jazz and kept it on whenever I was in the room. The bed was comfortable. The staff was pleasant. I ate in the Asian fusion restaurant for dinner, I had vegetarian curry with a green salad to start and a vegetarian soup. The entire meal and the Swiss wine was all outstanding. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, there was even a honeycomb to shave off and eat, perfect! Delicious cheeses and salmon and breads and omelet's made to order. The bar closes at midnight and has a good selection to choose from. The ferry docks directly across the street from PoHo in Weggis so it's an easy quick walk across the street to check in. I love Weggis (pronounced Vakis)! What happens in Weggis, Stays in Weggis.

The staff are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the views are spectacular, the service is top-notch, and the dining is delicious. I got a corner room on the top floor with two balconies and a window that overlooked further up the mountain. I had the delight on seeing some cows out there on my first morning. I utilized the pool everyday, got a massage at the spa on my second day, and ate at the restaurant onsite everyday for breakfast and dinner. I recommend all of it! It can get chilly out on the terrace, even in summer, so they have thick fur coats at your disposal for when you want to sit outside. There is a smoking/cigar room inside and ability to smoke outside on the terrace. The staff will also bring anything to you anywhere onsite if you just call and ask. They have elevated plastic ware available for poolside dining. Overall, highly recommend!!

The rooms were well appointed but I wish they had been a little more cozy and a little less corporate. At breakfast the first morning, my friend and I both ordered the overnight oats. When the dish came we both assumed it was an amuse bouche because the portion size was hilariously small. Like shot glass size. I still giggle when I think about it. It turns out that all the breakfast portions are small because you can order an unlimited amount of dishes and they don't like food waste. While I can certainly appreciate that, it would have been nice if our server had explained that when we placed our order. We were better prepared the next morning. The food overall in Switzerland was just not my favorite. It was good but under seasoned for my taste. My favorite dishes at dinner were probably the carrot coconut soup and the summer salad. The large pool at Villa Honegg is certainly the star of the show. It's heated and open until 11pm and we spent as much time there as we could. The one downside about this hotel is that it is a 20-30 minute drive into down for any activities or reservations at other hotels. It is worth it for the view but know that you need to make plans well in advance for offsite activities.
