Their menus are quite different, featuring different local fare. Grosser has a page dedicated to a raw fish delicacy which we did not try. Grosser also prides itself on its vegan options. It sources its meat and vegetables from long-standing farming relationships. It even makes the point that it washes and irons its own napkins instead of outsourcing to a laundry in order to be more environmentally friendly. Kleiner noticeably uses a lot more soft furnishings: tablecloths, napkins, curtains, etc.
Both meals were really good but Grosser's meal tonight is closer to my own tastes with more fresh vegetables in the minestrone soup and lots of mushrooms in the pasta and meatloaf (jagerhackbraten). The house beer is the bierbowle. The second beer was an herb beer featuring strawberries!
For dessert, we had the damencreme in contrast with the herrencream from Kleiner. The damencreme's custard was flavored with aniseed. Instead of rum, it had amaretto and instead of dark chocolate, it has white chocolate.
