The rudest waiter ever in our lives…read more We've been traveling all over the US and Europe, and we had the worst experience with a waiter in our lives during our lunch at the outside section on July 20. 1. After waiting 30 minutes during which other customers who ordered *after us* all received their dishes, we asked the server about our order. He ignored and bypassed us. 2. After finishing the lunch, we asked him for the bill and said we would pay with a credit card. We wanted to pay and leave quickly because we didn't have too much time. After waiting 10 minutes, we couldn't wait any more, so my wife spoke to the manager. The server finally came to us. When my wife asked to see the price, he confronted her by raising his voice, "Tap here, tap here. You'll see the price." Excuse me?? Customers need to see the price on the card machine before tapping the credit card to pay. 3. Then, the server yelled at me, "2 minutes, you leave." Excuse me?? It was him that forced us to wait there. Otherwise, we would have left right after finishing the lunch. When we complained to the manager, however, she behaved very professionally and apologized. The server never apologized although he was standing right next to the manager when we were complaining. One interesting thing was that the restaurant was full (more than 20 tables) and we were the only Asian people.

Everything I read about visiting Schwerin online said to stop at this establishment and have some…read morecake. I did just that this Saturday before heading down the street to visit the Schwerin Castle. I had spent the morning exploring the Altstadt in Schwerin, and decided that a coffee and slice of cake sounded like a great snack before heading to the castle (which you can literally see from the front tables). It was seat yourself, so I grabbed a table in the sun and began scanning the menu. It is mostly in German, but does have English translations under most items. I ordered a latte macchiato, and discovered that I had to go inside to order my slice of cake. After I received my coffee, I did just that. There were plenty of options, but I took the recommendation from the lady working and chose a raspberry cream cake (I wish I remembered the actual German name of the cake). She took my table number (which was collected by the waitress outside) and I sat back down with my cake. Both my latte and cake were outstanding. They gave me the push I needed to tour the castle and gardens. I loved the ambiance of this café, and they have plenty of food options for whatever you're in the mood for. If I had had the time, I would have come back for a real meal later.

I had a Tivoli salad which was quite nice but not worth my euro. It was good enough for us to leave full, but we were somewhat unsatisfied. The restaurant itself is very nice, but that is about it. I am sure they might be better for the famous German Kaffee Kuchen. So if you do want to eat there maybe try this option better? For such a beautiful and typical city I would've expected better and more varied restaurant options. I can´t even remember the service so I´m simply not going to comment on it.
