Terrific Cantabrian lunch...we didn't have a reservation but we were seated in the bar and the…read morestaff were helpful and friendly. We were started with an amuse bouche of roast beef (beef is their specialty), then followed their recs for an octopus entree and sirloin main. The octopus leg was nicely pan fried and served on a rich vegetable bed. The sirloin was done mostly rare and with a nice bed of sliced potato and red pepper. Wife enjoyed her dulce-de-leche tart and coffee.

It was probably the most Spanish thing we did....drinking standing at the bar, eating tapas, and GASP, I decided that when in Rome I should do as the Romans, and so I ate some DELICIOUS mussels and something pate-like called Cabracho, which google says is scorpion fish. What the heck, it was delicious. This place was pretty packed, and had a nice comfortable vibe, right off of the Plaza Mayor. I saw some folks that had descended on Gijon for the same festival that we had, and a lot of Spanish folk that were either from there, or visiting from somewhere nearby. All in all it was a great experience that I highly recommend repeating.
