Wow wow wow!!! Maybe the best meal we've had in Malaga and/or Spain. The craving hit out of nowhere - Russian, specifically, Georgian food. Having spent more than our fair share of time in Russia (prior to the war), we fell in love with Georgian (and Uzbek) food. So, we often search it out, no matter where we are - it's hard to come by outside of the old Soviet countries. So did a search and found this place outside of city center. Having lived here for nearly a year now, we decided to explore and I ended up making a Valentine's Day reservation for our family. My wife didn't know where we going, but when she saw the Georgian flag on the wall the excitement and expectations went up immediately, luckily, Odissei didn't disappoint. We could control ourselves and ordered all our favorites! Eggplant Appetizer - perfect taste, fair serving, well prepared and every bite melts in your mouth. Adjaruli Khachapuri - this was the reason we came. Literally our favorite item, among list of favorites, on the Georgian menu. And the standard by which we measure a Georgian restaurant. It. Did. Not. Miss. It was much larger than I remember, no complaints, super cheesy, warm, delicious bread. It was absolutely on point. The only minor knock is that it is traditionally served with a cracked raw egg on the face which is then mixed in at the table and ultimately cooks with the hot cheese. Apparently, a no go in Spain :(. Baked French Fries - they were fine. It was nice that they were baked. Nothing spectacular, extremely acceptable potatoes. Mushrooms - Not traditional, but oh, so, good. 4 large mushroom caps with delicious melted cheese and cast iron roasted stems. Delish. Shashlik (Chicken) - Georgian kababs. Delicious. 4 large pieces of chicken breast roasted on a skewer and served with a red sauce. (pro tip: add the spicy sauce). This was also delicious and super juicy. Even my wife who prefers a leg to a breast, really enjoyed this. Cooked to perfection. Satsivi - It's kinda like a Georgian curry (but not spicy). Grilled chicken in a walnut and garlic sauce (similar to the stuffing of the eggplant dish above). It was also truly outstanding. The chicken was slightly overcooked, but it didn't detract from the flavor or overall enjoyment of the dish. Odissei is probably the best Georgian food we've had outside of the old Soviet countries and is easily one of our top 3 dining spots in Malaga. The food was top notch, the restaurant was nice and intimate and the service was perfect. We'll be craving this spot until the next time we come. read more
