Yum Kaax restaurant. This place is a gem and worth supporting. This was an amazing experience in accommodation and true hospitality. It is an outdoor restaurant on the main road. They have some small buildings around he central dining area. It looks like the buildings are separate bar, Kitchen, and Grill area. It has some picnic tables in the middle for dining. The Chef, Marcos Calderon came out and introduced himself. He is passionate, animated, generous and kind. He brought over gluten free tortillas for my partner. He went next door to his house and got them! He recommended the mixed Carne plate. It was large enough for 2 maybe 3 people. We had the meat sweats afterward, but well worth it. The plate had pork chops, steak, shrimp, chicken and sausages. Everything was seasoned correctly and cooked to perfection. The Tortillas were hand made, and it shows. We talked to Marco. He is the only real chef in Candelaria. I believe he said he worked at the Iberostar in Tulum before coming to Candelaria. read more
