We quickly turned to one another and simultaneously asked "do they have a café?" Luck would have it that they do! And quite a cute one at that. Le Café is located next to the fruit and vegetables and has a well-done faux country farm decor, replete with large leather sofas with blankets strewn ontop, rabbit-fur covered taborets, large oil painting, rustic wooden tables, a faux fireplace, and even a room filled with chickens that you can observe while you eat. The menu is equally rustic, basically baked potatoes, soft boiled eggs, cheese and meat plates, some salads and cakes. Et voila! If you like any of those things, you're set, if you're don't, too bad. My salade Parisienne at 10E was really great, but the star of the meal was the baked Mona Lisa potato topped with herbed crème fraiche. Right after the meal I picked up a kilo of them at the shop for 2E. They have some combo platters but you can also order à la carte. The prices are a but steep (5E for a baked potato and 5E for one egg) but not as crazy as Paris brunch prices. We didn't get dessert but they looked great. Service was friendly but a bit frazzled, they miscalculated our bill twice (in their favor) so be sure to check before you pay. If you plan on going with a big group definitely reserve in advance on the weekends.

Because today is what would have been my Granny's 106th birthday, we decided that some lovely pastries and chocolat chaud were in order: Granny always loved a mouthful of something sweet. Located just steps from the entrance to/exit from the Grand Trianon, Angelina offers a comfortable and beautiful place to take a pause and enjoy a lovely pastry. With very polite and helpful service (they speak French and English) ordering is a snap. It's counter service, and there is a lovely dining area where you can take your trays. The Paris-Brest was gorgeous and full of hazel it flavor and a blend of textures. The Mont Blanc Caramel was also wonderful--just the right amount of sweet tempered by the slight bitterness of the caramel and chocolate. It was absolutely delicious (and also beautiful). I highly recommend a stop at Angelina if you are visiting Versailles. After feasting your eyes on the beauty of the palaces and grounds, it's only fair that your other senses get a turn.

There was a good amount of seating available and I reserved a seat while my cousin waited in line for our order. The food is pricey given the convenience location inside a popular tourist destination, so we were set on just trying the famous hot chocolate. The hot chocolate certainly lived up to its famous status, it was very rich in flavor and you'll be sipping it for quite a while. If you're a fan of hot chocolate, don't miss out on trying Angelina's famous hot chocolate. If you're not, move along and find some options in Versailles if you're not liking the price point.
