We arranged a time and place to meet (a local Starbucks) and after we got to know each other a bit and he described his background and approach, he started asking questions, it kind of felt like an interview, but went a bit more into depth, he was interested in more than just my professional background, but what I was looking for at a deeper, surprisingly more personal and human level. Those were and still are the most challenging questions for me. Those questions really got me really thinking and at that point I recognized the person in front of me actually cared about where I ended up, I had a friend and counselor on the other end. We spoke for awhile, he took notes, got all the technical stuff down, while casually dropping rather profound ideas and suggestions my way. He took my resume, tore it apart, and made something amazing. It was a process with him, he regularly gave me feedback and responded back to it. I was not only involved in the process, I understood and internalized it. He created a succinct and matter of fact cover letter for me (he is fantastic at making someone look good while being truthful). He rewrote my LinkedIn profile and really showed me how powerful of a tool it could be in not only attracting headhunters but also building one's personal brand. Scott's work got results, I started getting calls, and generating a lot of interest! Found my way to gainful employment.
