Tried Reuben's for lunch today after hearing a bit of buzz about it, but left the place feeling a bit disappointed.
It was extremely busy around lunchtime, which is to be expected of pretty much any food place in the area, but there's a distinct difference between a place which can cope with being busy whilst still making great food, and a place that just wants to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
It was quick and easy to order (went for a Deluxe Philiy, which for £4.95 promised to be quite a hefty sandwich), and after 5 minutes I was out the door with my lunch.
Now, I mean I get that the quality of ingredients comes into play when determining the price of food, but honestly what I got was not anywhere near what I paid for.
A 6" ciabatta, barely even toasted, with a single bit of cheese, a bit of overdone bacon, and some steak which was just completely undetectable due to the sauce coating everything. Oh and I asked for jalapeños instead of caramelised onions, expecting a bit of heat. 3 little slices of jalapeño.
I'd like to say I'd give the place a second chance, but honestly from seeing the other sandwiches being made, I'd rather have went to Doorsteps just around the corner, or if I was going for a Philiy Cheesesteak, walked an extra 5 minutes to Mike's Deli where I'd have gotten my money's worth.
Extra star for the speed of service, but it doesn't mean much when the food isn't good value. read more
