Mark was our officiant for our wedding in January. He was wonderful for the entire experience! We met him in person a couple of months before and he was so easy to talk to, it was like catching up with a long time friend. He even gave me a stone necklace that he MADE himself! I was incredibly pleased with Mark's professionalism and marriage counseling prior to the wedding and during the wedding. He gave an incredibly powerful and beautiful ceremony. However, when I reached out to him for assistance with mediation during an incredibly difficult divorce, he accepted and then quit on us without ever providing a reason. Unfortunately the lack of mediation pushed my ex and I into court suing each other. I can't help but see this as Mark only wanting to help couples if he thinks their outcome is towards a marriage, but when the outcome is divorce there is no love or compassion. read more

We were planning a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe and didn't know anyone in the area, but found Mark on a recommended list of wedding vendors from a venue that we actually didn't ultimately go with. You can immediately get a sense of his genuine, caring, and funny personality from his website. We did an online marriage seminar class with him. It was a nice way of getting to know him before the wedding and was a non-invasive way (there are multiple couples and you are not forced to speak about anything specific) of helping us understand ourselves and our relationship better as well as strategies to strengthen our future marriage. Leading up to the wedding, he was reliable and detail oriented (he learned the names of all the bridal party and even coordinated what color to wear), organized, and extremely experienced in what needs to be done in terms of the marriage license process. The people at the Carson City Marriage Bureau know him well! He sent us a copy of the ceremony script a few weeks beforehand and was very flexible and non-judgmental in changing what we asked him to and incorporating a section for our own personal vows (even though we didn't send them to him until the night before!). He is a Christian pastor, but was completely open in terms of what level of religious elements to include in the ceremony. The first time we met him in person was at our wedding rehearsal the day before and it was like meeting an old friend. He led everyone through where people should be and what needed to be done which was helpful since we didn't have a wedding planner. On the day of our wedding, he performed our ceremony with love, feeling, and a sense of humor. He knew how to relax us and break the nervousness. He also had a few experienced tricks like stepping behind the pillar so pictures of our first kiss would come out perfectly. Rev Mark was one of the main reasons our wedding ceremony was perfection. My husband and I went back and fourth for a while on deciding who to have marry us. Because it was a destination wedding and we were not familiar with any churches in the area, it was a bit of a challenge. I found Pastor Mark through some online research, and after having our initial call with him we were very relieved and felt we could trust him with such a big task. We received so many compliments on Mark and so many people were asking if we knew him from back home since he acted like he knew us for years! LONG VERSION: From our first meeting with him (and really before we even met!) we could tell how much heart he puts into officiating weddings. He is so dedicated to what he does. To me the ceremony is the most important part; we wanted it to be meaningful. To do that, you need an officiant who doesn't just show up and read a script, but really takes the time to get to know you as a couple, cares about your relationship (both before and after the wedding), and customizes the ceremony to what feels best for you as a couple - like he does! Wedding planning is tough, and filled with second guessing if you made the right decisions. With Mark, I didn't second guess it at all. After meeting him, we didn't meet or even look into a single other officiant. Several other times during planning, we felt like we were treated like a number (or just dollar signs!) by other vendors, but Mark made us feel like we were his only couple. From the ladies in the courthouse (where he met us to get our marriage license!) to all of our other vendors, when people found out we were using Mark, they were so excited for us! It is obvious that he is very highly regarded in his community and industry. After the wedding, several people specifically commented on how great he was!
