They don't have exactly everything, so Edeka or others are still in the repertoire but this is a solid place.

On our last day, we stumbled across this little grocery store in the heart of Mainz and it was honestly one of the better ones we found! Like most European supermarkets it was small with winding aisles, but this one was super clean, easy to traverse, and well stocked. We took it all in and then concluded with purchasing some still water for the evening. The only reason it's four and not five stars is that like most places finding cold water was hard and it was unfortunately the same here. Totally a cultural thing, but I'd love the option for some chilled beverages.

It's located in the hotel/business district near Frankfurt International Airport, and it makes it very convenient to pickup anything you want if you don't want to spend a lot of money eating out. They even have a sushi kiosk offering freshly made sushi packaged to go. I think selections are very decent here. I've been noticing these sushi kiosks are popping up everywhere in supermarkets. It must be a new corporate initiative to respond to the demands of consumers. It's a little set back from the main street, so you may have to look for this location.

This Edeka has been closed for almost a month for renovations. Today was the opening, and while…read morethey still seem to be working on it, it is a major improvement. Not only is it a fabulous neighborhood store but it is actually a destination store. I used to travel across town to go to "fancy Edeka" for specialty items but now I have my own fancy Edeka down the street.
