This is my to go to deli. Staff is friendly. I can't get enough of their delicious sandwiches, tacos, quesadillas and nachos. Everything I've tried on their menu is delicious. Food is always fresh and packed with flavor. This is an outstanding deli that has all snacks and food needs. This bodega serves great Mexican food and more!

Reyes Deli & Grocery Brooklyn - a local favorite for affordable tasty Mexican food

Excellent Mexican food hidden away in an unassuming deli. You'd never know it was here, unless someone told you about it... The tacos are delicious but very salty. Better than some of the local taco trucks - more flavor and less filler. The deli has a good selection of Mexican groceries; it also has a large Asian soup section. They charge extra for hot water - think this is for the lunch crowd seeking a cheap quick meal to go. They also have a small pastry section as well as dried peppers, many kinds of salsas, beverages, tortillas, household items etc etc. Worth checking out - especially on weekends.

Delicious, fast, homemade Mexican food- hits the spot whenever I need an easy meal! We're very lucky to have Reyes close by - we call ahead whenever we don't feel like cooking and food is ready in about 15 minutes. They're also open to customizing, which I really appreciate. I order the vegetarian burrito, sometimes remove the cheese and sour cream, and I add sautéed peppers and onions since it doesn't have many veggies in it. The portions are generous and they're chips and homemade salsas are crave worthy. Support local and delicious!

Some of the best tacos come out of a bodega like the Reyes Deli, in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Al Pastor tacos and pork tamales. Make sure you ask for the hot sauce on the side. Avocado is an extra .50c. If you need Mexican supplies like tortillas, dried peppers you can also pick up at a reasonable price. .

This unassuming bodega has some of the best Mexican food in the neighborhood! Highly recommend stopping in and getting a burrito, you get a huge portion of food for like $12, plus a side of chips and great hot sauces. The store also has a selection of great Mexican bread and tortillas, plus other staples like Jarritos and glass bottle sodas. Pro tip: get some tamarindo or horchata if there's any left!

I feel very fortunate to live within walking distance to Reyes. Being from CA, I crave that unquestionable Mexican flavor. This is it! I've tried a few items on their menu and the fish tacos are my favorite! The fish is breaded and topped with fresh tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and avocado. There's a spicy green sauces (I always ask for extra) that I enjoy adding to my taco. Runner-ups food wise are the chicken quesadillas and the chicken tacos. Homely atmosphere and a well-loved staple in the neighborhood. Call ahead to pick-up your order and avoid the wait. Enjoy!

I don't get it... everyone is raving about their tacos here but I found their al pastor extremely salty! The carnitas was slightly better since I didn't have to guzzle a bottle of water to wash the salt down but I honestly don't know what's so great about this place? The toppings are almost nonexistent and I've had cheap tacos from a truck that piled on the cilantro. It is definitely the cheapest place around South Slope to get tacos but if it's not good, even if it was free it's not good. I will say that a lot of reviews I'm seeing are old from a few years ago so maybe the cook is different or they are just using different seasoning and meat. They no longer have the 3 tacos special for lunch, but you still get 2 tacos for $5.50 which is a steal in this neighbor. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of salty tacos and stingy toppings.

Solid burrito for takeout on a Friday night. Fresh chips, great hot sauce and crema. Would be interested in trying the tortas next time. Service was a little slow so maybe try calling in your order ahead of time

This is a bodega. Unremarkable at first glance, but inside lies some of the most unexpectedly delicious Mexican cuisine around. You might not be observant enough to pick up on all the little clues, but I read some Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid, and I saw them all: The huge bin of jalapeños off to the side. The bunch of fresh cilantro slung over the counter. The menu of Mexican food. The glowing Yelp reviews about their excellent Mexican food. I'm not sure what, but something told me I would enjoy their tacos. And I do. I also love their carnitas torta. Piled high with juicy pork, it was a very, very good sandwich on its own. With a ladleful of the homemade hot sauce they keep behind the counter? It was perfection. Oh, and perfection in the South Slope costs only $7, with a bottle of Poland Spring.

I went on a Friday evening around 9:30pm. It was still fairly busy inside, but it was mostly people grabbing to-go orders. After ordering I snagged a spot at the counter. There's extremely limited seating, so I wouldn't bank on eating at the restaurant when it's busy. Be prepared to take your food to go. I got the Nene's Deluxe, which comes with a taco, a mulita, and an empanada - all with Birria of course. It was all delicious. The mulita was at the bottom of the box and got completely soaked with Birria. It was extremely messy to eat. Get plenty of napkins. I also got a side of fries and nacho cheese, because it was a long week and I deserved it. They had a seasonal strawberry horchata as well. This was okay. I also think I might just not love horchata in general. This meal definitely hit the spot. The Birria and consommé were top notch. I would return in a heartbeat.

Whenever friends visit my area, I consider this place one of the staples that I'll bring them to. In the summertime, I have even made use out of their limited seating outdoors. Usually, the service is fairly straightforward--you order, get your receipt then move down to the window and wait for your name to be called. Not much pleasantries but they get the job done. However, today I had an experience that left a poor taste in my mouth and honestly will put me off from going back for at least a while. When I went up to order, I asked for "the combo with birria tacos and consome", the cashier confirmed with me if I wanted "just Birria tacos? Or the combo?", I replied, "right, the birria taco combo." I think trying to be overly explicit led to the misunderstanding, because I got my order with only 3 Birria tacos. When I asked about the missing consome, she repeatedly insisted that I said no to the combo. After prolonged back and forth, she asked if I want consome, and when I said yes, she proceeded to ring it up on its own for $4. The thing is, I had already pulled out a dollar to cover it, as it's only a 50 cent difference between the combo and 3 tacos alone. I pointed this out, to which she shoved the consome at me with a look of disgust and told me she didn't want the money. I left the dollar in the tip jar anyway, but I felt uncomfortable from the exchange and also that it held up the delivery drivers and other patrons waiting in line to order.
