They have more SSO support than most schools and are a specialty disability school as well as a normal mainstream public school. They also have a great OSHC facility on site which we used being full time working parents. The schools communication was extremely effective with the teacher even emailing out weekly newsletters - which was great when we rarely saw the teacher as we would drop off and pick up from OSHC. There was a little disruption when he was there with some building works occuring due to additional schools funding. He was in a huge hall as a temporary classroom but it would all be finished now and would look even better.

They have lots of great traditions and events for the students to be involved with. The teaching style is very deferent to public schooling and is tailored to the individual students learning needs. The students have a much more well rounded education and more equipped to go on to further education not finding the leap from high school to uni as big as public school students. If I was a kid again I would definitely choose to go to this school.

My daughter has special needs due to a life-threatening allergy, and following her immunologist's advice, the school has made some adjustments to support her. It wasn't until the school relocated to the former Woodlands Girls Grammar School site that it became the school it is today. Both of my daughters attended this school and I can't say enough about it. The ground and the school buildings are picturesque and steeped in history. I used to love helping out with reading, sitting above the cloisters with beautiful views across the oval and Glenelg. My last daughter left here 4 years ago but back when they were both here the teachers were amazing, and very dedicated. The former headmaster, Roger Taylor was an outstanding Headmaster, and it was a very sad day when he retired, leaving very big shoes to fill. Things have changed a little in the last few years with well rennovated modern classrooms built, in keeping with the older buildings. The school has both a strong academic focus as well as a wonderful sports and music programs. They have also always had an artist in residence so the fine arts are well represented too. The school has a wonderful community feel and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

This is a 'safe' school and struggles with…read morestudents who are outside of this square, that is; students who have learning difficulties or who are academically bright. We were forced to hire a tutor on top of what is essentially a very expensive school because the school failed to help our daughter. Frustratingly the Headmaster is Utopian - "we are all happy here at St Peters Woodlands". They do have a Boost programme which is spasmodic and, for our daughter at least, failed to follow up on any requests. In our experience we have had to fight - phone calls, meetings - to get anywhere. There is another thing to consider - when they reach grade three the classes drop from four to three which means that the number of students per class dramatically rises. My daughters class this year has 29 students, my niece in a public school has 28. If your son/daughter has any problem this is a real issue. They disguise all of these issues by beautifully manicured grounds. For almost seven thousand dollars a year you would expect a lot more from this school

The school bathrooms are often graphitied and the toilets clogged with rubbish (IDK about the girls bathroom). The school during winter has banned beanies and other warm items of clothing and strictly enforece the uniform policy. It has many students who leave class to have "group meetings" in the bathrooms. The princepible is often seen as old and uncaring by the students who do not think she has improved the school in any manor. The only good thing about the school is the teachers such as Miss Mancini or Mr Fitzgerald who bring a fun atmosphere to the class room, along with some other teachers. It has obviously changed a lot since then, almost, 10 years on now, but some of the quality teachers have remained and the school still has a good reputation. It's a small co-ed Catholic school with a church in a nearby suburb, but there is not too much of a focus or push on Religion. The facilities while I was there were improving and have continued to be upgraded, with new computers, library, music room, gym, classrooms, desks and even the outdoor area. I had a great 8 years at this primary school, with a community feel, a small amount of students and everyone knew everyone. I would definitely consider sending my kids here.

It used to be known as Bowden Brompton and I'm glad it got rid of that name as it had a really bad wrap and this place isn't that bad. It basically works on a referral service from schools in the southern area. If your child is having lots of issues, mainly focussed around behaviour issues rather than actual learning difficulties, then this is where they send them. It has it's disadvantages but you hope they are outweighed by the advantages. The teachers there are absolutely fantastic though. The handle things really well and have much smaller classes. Usually your child is only here for a maximum of 10 weeks - which in my child's case tends to disrupt his routine too much and cause more hassles having so many changes. And they pick your child up and drop them off with a provided taxi service. Older children even end up going to boot camp style Operation Flinders if they are here in about October each year. Although my children managed when they had to go here short term (all at different times mind you) I was worried about the worse behaviours other kids there may have and that they might rub off onto mine. It all worked out okay though.
