The hotel is a boutique style place with a minimalist type bar and restaurant. It has a small carpark right opposite , I'm not sure what you would do when the 30 or so spaces are taken as I didn't see an NCP or the like close by. The greeting was warm and a young fella helped me to my room as I was in the "lodge" jusr across the side street from the main hotel block. The room was very nice ( with a\c which was needed 31 degrees that day !) good sized full bathroom and flatscreen TV. Room was clean and I slept well. I cant tell you about breakfast as I skipped that but if its anything like the rest of the hotel im sure it would be good. I am back in Swansea in a few weeks and i shall book here again.

I did have a hard time calling them when i first arrived, my cell phone couldnt connect, i eventually had to ask someone else to use their phone. I think it has something to do with the area code. but once I made contact it was smooth sailing from there! I loved the mirrors with the quotes on them, the chandeliers and the paintings. I had room 12 which was nice and tucked away so I had all the privacy i wanted. The bathroom was perfect and private. They had a sheet of useful information in my room, including cab estimates, restaurants, pubs, and hotel information. Its so close to city center which was amazing!! After spending a lot of the time at the Castle and the city center, i came back to relax and turn on the tv. Only to find out there was another rugby match! So I headed to a recommended pub just down the street where I met some GREAT people. The only downfall is that i couldnt spend more time at this Hotel and in Cardiff!! The facilities are clean, the staff helpful, and the pool is truly nice. They have a lot of good classes, which, sadly, are often so booked up with eager yoga-ists, Pilates-fans and Zumba- enthusiasts that we stretch, strain and Zumba into our nearest neighbour. Luckily all with good grace and a smile and, as far as I know, no major fallings-out or injuries. The latest offerings are as diverse as walking clubs, wine tasting and poker (obviously the whole health thing might be slipping a tad). There are a number of membership options starting from around £40 per month, which if I go three times a week works out at cheaper than attending classes elsewhere. Then, I can destroy all my good work by wandering into the café or bar afterwards.

The location was not close enough to the train station for an easy walk, but was close to the castle and other Cardiff sights.

Its a just a few minutes walk from the Millennium Centre and all the activities and eateries of the bay, while still being just a 15 minute walk into the city centre but with a bus stop outside too. Its only a few years old so all everything is very modern and clean and comfortable. Obviously your not going to get luxury from Travelodge but the bed was comfy and I was quite happy with the spacious room. I think its also cheaper than the town version and has onsite parking.

The only downsides I associate with travelodges are their often tired, worn out and uninspired decor and their unromantic motorway side locations. No so with the Travelodge at Atlantic Wharf Cardiff bay. They have obviously tried to create a bit of a flagship model hotel for the group here. It's light, airy, bright and clean plus its only 2 minutes walk to the bars and restaurants of Cardiff Bay and 10 minutes to the City Centre. So if you're not planning a romantic weekend you could do a lot worse than book this during one of its many offer periods.

There is a definite pattern in the quality of hotels that the Trafalgar Tour Company books for it's escorted tours. Everything about our tour was excellent except for the hotels. This particular hotel was one of three that I stayed at earlier this month that I would never in a million years choose for myself. Cons: - One block from the Cardiff Prison. That is really heart warming. Look at the map. - No ventilation or fans in the rooms and we could not open our window. They only have A/C in the lobby. - They need new carpet because it is very worn and it looks awful. - Elevators are old and really slow. I think there are only two. I opted to take the stairs the morning we checked out and got trapped in the stairwell with a bunch of people from my tour group. Our coach was leaving for England in 5 minute, so I ended up busting out of the Emergency Exit on the ground floor. After checking all the locked doors on every floor I really didn't care if the sirens and alarms went off. There are no good signs for the regular stairs. - Emergency Stair Well - No phones or ways to communicate with the outside world when you get stuck in there and all the doors lock behind you. Pros: - The lobby has A/C. Unfortunately, I can't sleep in the lobby. - Cardiff has some nice sites to see. Visit the Cardiff Castle if you have time. This was the best tour and we could actually sit on the furniture and touch some stuff. - We had a great dinner at the Sutton Mawr Farm which isn't too far away. I wish we could have stayed at their B&B instead of the Park Inn. - The Wi-Fi was free. If it had not been I would have deducted another star. I cannot believe this is part of the Radisson chain of hotels because it really needs a serious renovation. It is one step up from the Holiday Inn hotels I stayed at in England. Recommendations: - Check out a B & B in the country so you can enjoy the scenery. - Really check out the hotels on your itinerary if a tour company books the hotels for you. I really think this is how they make their money. They get a good group rate for a dump and they pocket the difference.

This is a fantastic hotel that offers real value for money. It certainly can't be beaten for…read morelocation. It sits right opposite the CIA and backs on to John Lewis and the St David's complex. The train and bus station is a 5 minute walk away. I haven't always lived in the city so if I was ever going to gigs it was a good place to stay if booked further enough in advance. The main desk is in a unique courtyard area. I remember when it used to look like a townscape painted onto the walls so its a definite improvement. I've always found the staff to be really accommodating and while the rooms aren't the most glamourous they are conformable and have everything you need plus wifi. Rooms usually cost under £100 included breakfast and I've ever stayed here for around £50 once.
