The staff were all friendly (even to a small group of non-Italian speaking Americans), they quickly sat us in a prime spot out on the patio. They then brought us the menu and the English abbreviated version and Serena (out wonderful guide through this culinary delight) explained the specials that weren't listed on the English version. After a few minutes of looking and discussion we took her recommendations on antipasti and main dishes, great choices. The entire meal was superb, from the fried Brie and smoked prosciutto starters to the bone in ribeye, all of which were delicious. Then comes dessert, after asking and making some selections she returns with not only what we ordered but also one of the dishes we were asking about (on the house so that we could try it). As they were closing in 2 days for the summer break there were a few things they were out of, however this didn't dissuade her from looking for one of the scotches we were interested in, which she found for us, she also brought us a small flight of local digestifs to sample as well (again just so we knew what we were or were not missing). Talk about service, between her attention, recommendations, and additions to our choices, out entire table had nothing but smiles and appreciation. By far one of the better meals I've had in quote some time. If you are in the area and looking to take a date, a business meeting, or just have a great dinner, look no further. The burger, the surf and turf was good. Lots of crayfish bursting out. Overall, it was a decent burger but I'm not sure whether the beef or the fish was the star and thus the burger while tasted good didn't shine. What did shine were the chips/crisps. It's a large order to share and it tastes delicious. The beer though, was a good selection. One thing is I had to ask for the bar menu. Perhaps they just assumed I'd be happy with looking at the taps. The service, informative, polite, patient, though not overly friendly. I'd go again if not just for the beer and chips.

However, given the noise level, it's hard to converse, so it wouldn't be my first choice for a romantic dinner. What this place does well is Angus Ribs. We had Beef Tartare and Grilled Angus Ribs. My friend loved his ribs, which were prepared with a liberal dollop of rock salt; the salt really added to the flavor profile. On the other hand, my Tartare was absolutely flavorless; if it hadn't been served with sweet cherry tomatoes on the side I wouldn't have been able to eat more than two spoonfuls of it :-( As for our sides, the potato skins we ordered weren't especially good either; they were oily and largely tasteless. The potato fries were actually freshly made chips that had been deep-fried in the kitchen - quite tasty! Portion sizes are very generous. The ribs were as wide as the plate, and the side of potato fries (chips) took up an entire plate. Overall this place is AOK, but I don't know that I'll be coming back anytime soon.

I really love this place, as in my opinion, every healthy meal should be based on one or more dead animals, preferably cows. Having this said, I am obviously a victim to every steakhouse. But everybody should know: this place has it's weaknesses in serving time and trying to manage bringing food for multiple persons at the same time, heck sometimes I even my potatoes shivering in front of my eyes, while I waited another 10 minutes for the meat. NOT OK!?! Well, now let's talk about what makes this place still genius: Due to a lag of fantasy on my side, I alway order the beef shoulder and I can tell you, it's a heck of meat. Soft, delicious taste, fresh from somewhere in South America. Totally worth the money in combination with red vine and onion potatoes (keep telling them actually cook the potatoes). Till today, it's impossible for me to believe that a cook can actually manage to cook a piece right down to the perfect minute, but is incapable to guess the right amount of cooking time for potatoes, but so be it! If you combine this with the variety of side dishes they have, this should fill you up beyond exploding without even touching the starters or deserts. My experience on the red vines varied strongly between good and beyond terrible, so better go with an open vine, if you don't have to impress a girl with your knowledge.

The salad was full of frutti di mare, and the spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. Service was fast and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable; E13,80 all told, including bread and water. It seems to be a bit of a hangout in the local neighborhood, which is full of arty, academic types, and the crowd was well mannered, even if, from time to time, their smoke got in my eyes.
