So accommodating to make me a special chef hat when she was about to close up. Great smile and personality. So glad to have met her.

I am thrilled with my new navy Jersey jumpsuit - which is both very comfortable and stylish (and makes me feel a little bit Katherine Hepburn!). That's no disrespect to the store; in fact, I think the concept of it probably means that what one can find in the store varies quite a bit depending on the day. When I was there the selection was fairly uninteresting. The store is also quite, quite small, which can make it awkward when the one person working there (manager? owner? don't know) is right next to me as I'm looking at stuff. He wasn't trying to be overbearing or anything like that, but I wished, for both our sakes, that I liked something enough to buy it. If you're nearby, it's worth a stop in; don't know that it's worth seeking out on the map and making a trip there (as I did).

It…read moreis actually located by the main church square but I was surprised it retained its old-world charm next to all other big name brand stores. When we entered, the shop owner, an older gentleman, greeted us and once he saw we were actually taking our time looking at the scarves, he started pulling all kinds of scarves from the rack and in the end there was a mountain of scarves on the table! He didn't mind one bit as I tried this or that around my partner's neck. His current one was a bit worn out and I wanted to gift him a nice 100 percent wool scarf for his birthday. In the end, I purchased a nice 100 percent wool blue plaid scarf as a birthday present for my partner for 50 euros and it was well worth it! Even if you don't buy anything, I recommend stepping into the shop for the experience alone. I will go even as far as to say that Ermini's shop is a scarf equivalent of Mr. Ollivander's wand shop in Harry Potter!

I randomly stumbled across Adam Leather Factory walking home, and like many foreigners seeing…read morehundreds of leather shops all looking the same in Florence, I was really hesitant to walk in as it seemed like just another one of the shops run by non-Italians who are more geared towards lower quality items and tourists who don't know better selling at higher prices. Boy, was I wrong. Very wrong. The moment I stepped in, to the left I saw gentleman who had several leather strips out on a ladle and was hand-sewing a wallet for a customer at the counter. I was immediately greeted with an extremely warm smile and voice by Mickael who was just an absolute gem to talk to and chat with, and helped me find the right item for my Dad. Mickael before stepping out then let Mozzi know about what I was looking for and how they could work with me, and I had so much fun talking with Mozzi in my broken Italian that we chatted and laughed together for over AN HOUR together in his shop! In the meantime I saw just how kind he was to all the various customers all over the world who came into his shop working with them and making them feel extremely comfortable from the second they walked in. Mozzi even customized the lettering of a wallet with a specific idea I had in mind, and I saw all the amazing beautiful custom work he's done and proudly owns as well, like a one-of-one Macbook Pro Leather Satchel Messenger Bag that was just a work of art, or leather air-pod cases he made that were just brilliant - brilliant. His work needs to be seen by more people around the world. At the end of our hour chatting together and just having a blast talking and learning from one another, Mozzi gave me an excellent price on the items I was interested in, and just made my entire week being a class-A gentleman who TRULY cares about his work and being creative and passionate and being a step above everyone else. He is an artisan, and it was really an absolute joy and perfect happen-stance to meet him. Mozzi, thank you again brother. UN GRANDE PIACERE. Can't wait to swing by again for any other items I may need on my next trip. I wish you all the best brother, you deserve it!!! Keep up the amazing honest hard-work. You are on a roll and up and coming!

As someone who loves crafts (to buy, not make), I was automatically drawn to II Papiro partially because of its welcoming and warm lit environs, but mostly because of its incredible stationary, papers, cards, and related accessories you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the world. As the digital age begins to permanently change how we read and communicate and express ourselves, it's important to remember that at one point in history, paper making was as much of an art as anything that was written or drawn on it. You will find papers of all colors, patterns, and more importantly, textures at II Papiro - each item is the type of product you know much work went into. I bought a few cards here...the designs are extraordinary colored silhouettes of Firenze landmarks and had detailed cuts in its design. I also bought a wax seal (although I remember being tempted by the nice calligraphy pens). Although I've only used it a few times, I still get a kick of STAMPING melted wax with my seal (my fancy looking initials). If you're ever at Firenze, this place is definitely worth stopping by if only for even a little bit...you might find something you will value taking home with you that beats a lot of items you could find at your regular tourist traps.
