I have good and bad things to say about Ricardo Steak House. I'll start with the bad. The initial walk-in did not give me steakhouse vibes, especially with security at the entrance outside. It felt a little rough around the edges. There were people just hanging out in the front smoking and just standing around seeing what the vibe was like.. Basically like the same energy when you pull up to a club. Then comes the lobby area--there's no room. Everyone is standing on top of each other, and the bar is right there, so the bartender constantly has to squeeze past you. The layout definitely needs to change. We came in with a group of 9 and made reservations for 6:30, but we didn't get seated until 7:30. That definitely pissed me off. Now let's talk about the good, because the good is actually good enough for me to deal with the sketchy vibe in the front. The staff was amazing--the server, the bartenders, the hostess, the security, the waiters--everyone was kind and accommodating. The food was amazing. It was the juiciest steak I've ever had. I got the ribeye steak with sautéed spinach and yellow rice. It had small slices of garlic spread on top of the steak with rosemary. Absolutely amazing. The music was a vibe. Pretty much everything was good once I sat down. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. Perhaps this is the vibe that Ricardo's has sustained their revenue. I'm really not sure. However, when I pulled up to the restaurant I almost drove off. However my daughter was already waiting for me inside. The scene in front of the restaurant was out of a scene of love and hip hop. It was a bit intimidating and not really the type of vibe I look for. Stepping inside was even worse. LOUD music, and groups of people just huddling around the entrance. Smh. Finally we go all the way to the back seating THANK God. The drinks were okay and most of the food was good. We had the steak and lobster - land and sea. Definitely not worth 85.00. My daughter said the crab cake was fishy. The oysters were too small. My niece enjoyed her lobster ravioli. The servers were good and efficient. I mean look if you like a noisy restaurant with loud hip hop playing in the background and loads of people then this may be your place. Maybe on an off day would have been better. But we were celebrating some birthdays. I've been to Ricardo's many years ago. I'm thinking it was probably different owners or management. I guess they have that whole scene locked down, who knows. I'm ONLY rating this a 3 because of the lack of service we received when we got there. Let me get the bad out of the way first. Opened at 11am and we had reservations for 11:15am or 11:30am. We were seated, however, it appears they were really "open" yet because they were busy setting up other tables/chairs, get glasses and tableware out and it pretty much took over 30 minutes to be served water after I had asked if they were actually opened. Now we received a waiter, which looked like he could be the manager as he was the only one dressed in a suit and we ordered bottomless mimosas and Bellinis and I will say this: BE PREPARED. Bottomless will include a carafe of your choose, and you can choose a different flavor each time, and each time you will receive a new carafe. It was 4 of us and we had two rounds each. The food was amazing. I had the lamb chops, medium, and it was cooked to perfection. The vibes were cool. The Art of the walls were musically created and the music was hip-hop and RnB. There are only three restrooms in the establishment: one behind a curtain in the front and two in the back. I would definitely come back, but much later, at like 1pm. I did a walk in to Ricardo's on a Saturday night and was sat within 30 minutes. I would recommend reservations if you have groups. The restaurant is very lively from the DJ's, to the group celebrations and the moody ambience with neon lights. There was a bouncer at the door, because I believe people were able to come in and enjoy the bar and music without dining in. I really enjoyed the vibe, and everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves as well! For my dining experience, they brought out complimentary garlic bread with red sauce and it was reallllly good. I got the mangotini for my drink, and it's perfect for the girls who like a sweet cocktail. The only area I was not impressed with was my filet mignon. The salad was reallly good, but the steak was not as tender as I would expect for a steak house. Overall I think it's a great place for group celebrations, girls night out, and even a more high energy date night spot. read more

Ricardo's is a gem on the east side of Harlem and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The garlic bread they start you with is so good but don't fill up on it! We ordered the sautéed shrimp and calms casino to start. Both were 4.5/5. Order the OG of Steaks 5/5 (a 44oz porterhouse for 2) it was cooked medium (actually came out medium) and melted in your mouth. Had grilled asparagus and garlic mash potatoes as sides (4.5/5) For drinks we ordered the Sweet&Vicious (vodka based drink) 4/5 and the Wild Thing 5/5 which had 4 different spirits in it. Our waiter was amazing. The table that we sat at initially was loud so he graciously offered to move us to another table. Things to keep in mind. This place is loud during dinner hours, sit in back for a quieter experience. Parking is a little tough especially with the current construction in the area. read more

I have been a patron of Ricardo's since it first opened. It was one of the first 'upscale' restaurants in East Harlem and has been wonderful from the start and still is today. Yesterday was a celebration of my beloved Titi's 80th birthday. The service was fantastic (thank you Rachel for your lovely welcome and Robinson for your impeccable service). I visited the 1 week of October 2024. It was a weekday Monday it think. 1st impressions wonderful as always I've frequented this restaurant a quite often. Wow was I disappointed 1st of all I think I got a new waiter. I wasn't ofered the special like the couple a few tables down from me. I saw that their was a lobster and steak special I wasn't aware of. 2nd- The waiter didn't understand me when I ordered my steak . I ordered medium and it arrived closer to well done come to find out it was the waiter that put it down incorrectly. No problem we all make mistakes. 3rd- After about 25 minutes my date completed her meal and I still haven't recieved a my steak. My sides were now cold so I ask for new sides because I believed they were just remaking my steak 4- 35 minutes in I begin to get frustrated I see dozens of dishes come out the kitchen. I've worked in restaurants settings in my past. When a waiter or manager asks for a emergency remake or something in the fly it should be the next thing out of the kitchen. 5- 45 minutes in I get up to speak to the manager asking whats going on how much longer I was so frustrated I was about to walk out of the restaurant. He saw my frustration and apologized but I couldn't excuse his lack leadership with the kitchen. Staff. 6- about 50 minutes in I got my food and as always It was delicious and the steak was cooked to temp. I am just a customer but management should have a system when waiters and staff mess up on orders. I am ok with live training and real world conditions, but it's not fair for me to have to wait almost an hour to eat my dinner alone when it was a in house mistake. Was a courtesy desert offered no was a drink offered no was a discount on the bill offered no . I am certain the waiter and the manager on duty know they messed up but I don't think the proper systems and sense of urgency was applied in my case. Staff was extremely friendly, attentive and professional. Before we enter the restaurant a lovely lady check us in and inform us we where the first to arrive for our party. I thought we was going to be late but I was excited when she inform us we arrived first. I had time to check out the restaurant and check out the menu and see what I wanted to order. For my appetizer I had clams which was server in like a soup bowl with 2 freshly bread. The sauce was delicious. For my main course I decided to try the Shrimp Filetti Di Pomodoro. That white sauce was on point. Our sever came around and ask if we wanted black pepper and Parmesan cheese. For my drinks I had several I try Lychee martini, watermelon martini and Passionfruit martini. We shared the dessert with the birthday lady. Service staff was on point and very attentive to filling our drinks. Some went with the bottomless mimosa/bellini option but I opted for a margarita. This place is a little off the beaten path but the food and staff were outstanding. Perhaps one of the best steaks I've ever had. Great Flan as a perfect dessert. The interesting part is this.... My wife's grandfather owned several businesses at this location from 1915 to 1929 and lived in an apartment on the upper floors of the building. First was a "macaroni" (pasta) store, then a bodega and lastly a furniture store that finally closed during the Great Depression. We learned of Ricardo's during some genealogy research and came all the way from Pennsylvania to eat here and to honor her grandfather... and it didn't disappoint.
