We came to Ricardo's Tortilla Bakery for breakfast. I must say this is where the locals go for sure. All staff were friendly. The parking I believe can be a challenge at times; but there is designated parking across from the place. There is a drive-thru as well. There is limited space inside. This is a very busy place and I know why. The inside dining is very tight but well worth the wait, there is also a covered outdoor patio. The service was very fast the wait staff is very friendly. I came for breakfast and it was a very great decision! The food is incredible too say the least, the tortillas are fresh made as well as the awesome salsa/hot sauce the sauce has a great kick with amazing flavor. I ordered Huevos rancheros breakfast. My brother loves the place and picked up a couple for me, so I don't know what the name is of the shredded beef (is that barbacoa?) but the other taco I had was fajita chicken. I'm going to be 100% honest here. I've never had something I didn't like at Ricardo's. Everything is amazing. The price is a little high at times, but I'm willing to pay it. The people are very nice. I'm not always able to go to Ricardo's, so sometimes if it's been a few months the business hours seem to have changed. Sometimes they have evening hours, and sometimes they have to shut down the evening hours and close at 2pm. That's fine, it can be hard to be open when there is no business. I only had one bad experience, and they were quick to remedy it. My milk was expired and popped when I opened it. They apologized and replaced it. I can understand - not many people ask for milk. read more

I use to buy tamales from Ricardos pretty often. I would wait on special days to order the spicy ones but still got the regulars. Once I ordered spicy (was told someone had just brought then from their house) they turned out to be chicken tamales. The last time that I ordered tamales from Ricardos they were so salty and not edible. I don't think I'll be back. read more

The breakfast burritos are decent but they use regular sheet cheese versus graded which is weird. They have reasonable prices and serve us well for the occasional breakfast but they do not have a seating area, drink selections are in a can, and the atmosphere is a joke. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. If so, it was a pretty bad day. We waited 45 minutes for our food to be brought out to us. We ordered the lunch special, so I would have thought it would have been a bit quicker. We had to ask for a fresh bowl of chips. When they were brought to us, there was a hair in the new bowl. When our food was finally brought out to us, it had to be sent back twice because it was not prepared as ordered (big things like chicken instead of beef). After all of this, no type of discount was given. The food seemed a bit high for what it was and especially for a lunch meal. I won't be returning. On another note, the restaurant does have a dining room area now, which is nice. It was very hot in there, though. I'm usually one that brings a sweater into restaurants, but I was pretty uncomfortable with the heat. Hopefully they'll continue making improvements. read more

Went here twice thinking maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Chicken fajitas was bland and minimal chicken included. The rest was good. Tortillas are amazing but that's all they have going for them. Today I ordered a brisket burrito and queso. It was very fatty brisket (picked a cup and half of fat out) and only bland brisket. Mexican food has cilantro, lime, spice and pico...so many cheap and tasty options but they just hand out meat and tortilla and call it good. Was I supposed to order flavor to be added? The best Mexican food in Brownwood and we are from California where there is an abundance of good Mexican food. Their burritos are out of this world good! We usually buy a couple dozen tamales at a time and never ever had a bad one. We have never had a bad experience at Ricardo's. The food, the service and the staff are all friendly and all smiles all the time. I cannot believe anyone has ever had a problem.
