We started with calamari, crispy orange chicken and honey prawns. All of our appetizers were delicious and delivered to the table hot and fresh. My favorite was the Honey Prawns ($7.50) The prawns were encased in a delicious bread coating and deep fried. Almost like a corn dog but much better. When it was time for ordering our entrees one of the owners of the restaurant suggested that I change my order from Sesame Chicken to Mala Chicken ($15.50) with fried rice. ($3.50) Mala Chicken is chicken in a hot numbing sauce. The sauce is made with Sichuanese peppercorn, chili peppers and several spices that are simmered in oil. The food here is of good quality - it is not the best take away Chinese food I have ever had, but it is good enough to keep me going back. Their portions are generous, the meat actually tastes like meat (yes I have had this issue) and the quality of the staple dishes is very good (Kung Po. Curry, Satay etc.) Some highlights: Their fried noodles are closer to the vermicelli style than the Lo Mein style (which I prefer) and are well cooked and very tasty - worth trying on their own before using as a side dish. The Singapore fried rice (and equivalent noodles) are nicely spicey without going overboard - if this is your type of dish you will not be disappointed. The Chicken balls are very good - fluffy batter, not too oily and far too tempting to eat just-one-more. Delivery - super fast! While I lived in the US I had a craving for "proper" Chinese take out (east coast Chinese food was, in my experience, very poor) - Wongs satisfies that craving, perhaps a little too well :)
