Wonderful hole-in-the-wall spot. We needed a quick bite for dinner on our way to New Orleans and found this gem. We were a little skeptical when first walking in, but we're greeted by two friendly ladies in the front. We shared 1 lb. of boudin and the crawfish tails & etouffee combo. Both were fantastic! The etouffee had the perfect amount of seasoning. Will come back when passing through again.

    Comfort food found here.

This may not have been my first choice, but it was close to my client's site and they picked where to grab a late lunch one weekday. They offer plate lunches during the week, and I picked the steak and sausage plate with potato salad and cole slaw. For someone who isn't from southwest louisiana, I determined that steak and sausage actually means smothered sirloin pot roast and smoked sausage over white rice. You choose two sides, and even though fries are listed as a side item, for lunch, you can only choose between split peas, potato salad, cold slaw, or an additional portion of rice. This plate was interesting to me since it was half cajun food as the entree, but traditional american for the sides. No cajun sides offered here. On my plate, since it was near the end of the lunch service, I had mostly pot roast and just 2 small pieces of sliced sausage. The sausage was my favorite part of the plate as it turned out. My client ordered the rice and gravy plate which turns out, for all the non-louisiana folks, to be sliced sausage link smothered over rice. Another interesting thing they do is write the number of available plate lunches they can serve (toward the end of the lunch service) on the dry erase board, which is very helpful. This is a very casual restaurant. Overall we were all very hungry and everyone cleaned their plates, so it was a good experience.

We stopped in because they were recommended by some locals.. The place was exactly what we were hoping..fresh seafood market and restaurant. We were a little early so we could not eat, but wanted to take fresh seafood home to Texas. We purchased $150 worth of a variety of fresh yummies....got home to find out the half gallon container that was supposed to be 2 LBS of raw oysters, had about 30 (THIRTY) oysters and full of oyster water....REALLY?? THAT WAS $40. BUYERS BE AWARE..NOT COOL AT ALL. WON'T BE BACK.. So sad..first bad experience EVER in 40 years of going to Beautiful Louisiana..

Best seafood in Sulphur! Seriously! I've been going here since I was a kid and it never disappoints. I live in AZ now and drove 17 hours nonstop overnight to make sure I could get here for dinner before they close for Christmas. A trip to Louisiana would not be complete without it!

Oysters and popcorn shrimp combo with boudin ball and onion rings! Good stuff y'all!

We love Richard's food. Everything is wonderful. Love their seafood gumbo. Crawfish was very tasty and easy to peel.

Customer service and the food were good. I have no complaints there but the prices itself were a little up there though

Always stop at Richard's when I'm in the area! It's an institution for my family. Just wish I could come visit more often!

Good gumbo, horrible everything else, especially service. The staff is overwhelmed when busy, maybe that's why they're so unfriendly.

Each day is different with the exception of Fri/Sat both offering seafood. I haven't tried all the other nights but the seafood buffet is worth an encore lol Crawfish (in season) is very good and the grilled fish, étouffée and stuffed spuds are all solid choices! After viewing the lunch buffet we decided to give it a try to save time. It seemed today most of the customers were locals comprised of contractors and maybe plant workers, there was no doubt this place is a local favorite. After placing our drink orders we proceeded to the steam table and grabbed our plates, most of the food seemed fresh and definitely hot, the kitchen was in the process of refilling items as we served ourselves. Honestly there was nothing bad here but after trying a few bites I was reaching for the hot sauce to jazz things up a bit. I thought the prices were a little steep considering the portions we chose, if you're one that will make multiple trips to the food bar it's probably a good deal. We felt the food quality and preparation was just okay, it's likely we would not return or travel out of our way to dine here again. The staff was very friendly and accommodating it's just not the type of place we frequent...

So the reviews on this restaurant are good, I'm at a hotel close and they also recommended it. So…read moreI called in my order and went over shortly after. The menu has a variety, I wan ant very hungry and went with the nachos, beef and chicken. They offered me half or full, it wasn't much maybe $2 but since not so hungry I ordered half. Once there I noticed a drive thru so I went there. There is a sign on the window that says "we don't take orders from window." Or something to that effect. I pulled up and gave my name. Shortly after they brought my bill, quickly opening the window and shutting with little interaction. I wanted to ask for utensils, which I could see, but again she opened window, quickly handed it to me and shut window. Figuring I could get them from my hotel I went on my way. So the box was packed with chips, it had ground meat, beans, cheese, jalepenos, sour cream and salsa. The chips were kind of thick so they help up well. The salsa had great flavor. The rest was ok, there was no chicken as I had ordered but the ticket indicated it was made per the instructions. I felt the cheese was really light for nachos. Otherwise it was ok. Service wasn't great with wrong order and lack of communication at window. Something else probably would have been better.

I was excited to think I found a rare gem of a hamburger joints on our road trip, but I have to say it was just OK. Yes, the veggies were fresh which was great! But the burger was dry, thin, and overcooked. The cheese wasn't even melted. So I was perplexed why people this this is so great. The sweet potato fries and okra were good, but a bit on the greasy side. Better than fast food, hmmmmm, just a bit so there's that.
