They have a fair fiction section but lots of other useful amenities such as a computer area and games and movies you can check out as well. Has rooms you can book and utilize 5. runs a lot of great events for kids and adults alike (my daughter has done October ghost hunting after hours, they do concerts for kids, Bluey events, storytime, free family portraits, etc... Check their website for listings and they change frequently!) 6. They have a book store called friends of the Library which is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (donated books sold extremely cheap) 7. The building holds a lot of history 8. Plenty of parking 9. They do kids and adult craft take home bags. Check their calendar for adults and register monthly for kids its a different craft weekly (all free!) Only thing- I wish some of the employees were a little more friendly and outgoing. Especially with my kids.

Lately, I have been borrowing a few book from the main Library and the system is very easy to…read morenavigate. Basically you enter your library card number and you can create a list of titles that you are interested in. You can then place a hold on any of them if they are not on the shelf and they will let you know when your book is ready for pickup. Just go to the second floor and to the left of the information desk, there are self serve shelves with all the books ready to be picked up. I just looked for mine under my last name, check it out and I have three weeks to read it. Easy and free.

I believe it was built around 1978 and has all the modern conveniences that you would expect in a new library. However what really makes this library special is the fact that although it is thoroughly modern it still has the unique feel and ambiance of an old and historical library. The architecture is stunning, from the stone exterior to the vaulted and beamed ceilings. Aesthetically lovely and spacious at the same time. Since it is a large library there are plenty of resources and places to spread out and relax and it's a pleasure just to walk through the wonderful space. One of the best parts of the library is the incredible Historical Room. Not only old books and records but a great genealogy section and even a section for newspaper obituaries. A truly stunning and lovely library that manages to look toward the future without forgetting about the past.

The WiFi is fast, no problems with that at all. Lots of big tables to really spread out all your work. Probably the best thing about this place is all the tables have power outlets in the middle of the tables. It is absolutely thee best thing ever about this place i love this. it is so convenient for me or anyone that needs power and doesn't have to go on a search for an outlet. tell them i sent you, quietly of course.

The kids in that room after school let's out are so loud that their laughter and shouting can be heard throughout the entire floor. The guy who maintains that floor does NOTHING reign these kids in. Nothing. He sits there oblivious to the disturbance these kids are creating. Many of us desperately need a quiet place to do our work from, read, or use the computers. This man, Tim is useless. I finally had to go up to him when several of us who were trying to study could no longer put up with the noise. I also complained to the ladies at the circulation desk about Tim's lack of control over his floor. I am disgusted Tim does not have the courage to put these kids in their place.

I just know that each time I enter the building I hold my breath and touch those amazing ornate doors that are just background to the hallway where students eat cafeteria food. As one would guess, this library is amazingly curated. I am a huge Maurice Sendak fan and I found copies of works by him that I didn't know existed. Like the first translated version of a famous Czechoslovakian fairy tale that he illustrated. I always grab a comic too. They have two sections, one for typically sized comics and one for over sized comic books. Also, the student work they showcase is always interesting. As a bibliophile I feel genuinely lucky to have this library in my home state. And I'll totally marry someone who has tenure there so I can sneakily read their books till they die.

Whales quilts and…read moreparks The very first idea for a library in Norton was in 1886 when a few book were dumped in the town hall. A few years later a "real" library and building were constructed and roughly 2,000 books were proudly stacked on the shelves. The served nicely for a while but the library's collection of books and more modern devices, unimagined when the library was constructed, started to appear. It became obvious a new and much larger library was needed. So in 1991 the brand new and much larger library was opened. It holds over 60,000 volumes as well as numerous works of art, displays and exhibits and a cool community room. It even has the traditional New England quilt that some new libraries have seemed to gotten away from, as well as a great display of a whale mom with her calf. Cool stuff. In 1999 the town decided to build a little park and patio on the grounds of the library. Not a place for serious hiking but a nice place to take a short stroll or find some shade and read a book. A very pleasant library and a great place to spend some time and if you're not careful, maybe even learn something.

What struck me most is how friendly the staff is. They know most patrons by name and are always willing to help answer questions or find a solution. The WiFi is free but a bit unreliable. It would not let me log on to many major sites, but several minutes later after the staff reset the internet, it allowed those sites. Even before the reset, some sites worked (email, social media) but many others did not. Parking lot has ample space and there's even a few antiques decorating the library...it's like a tiny museum!
