The best of both…read moreworlds The Blackstone Public Library is a visual stunning but still an extremely useful, efficient and very modern library. I believe it was built around 1978 and has all the modern conveniences that you would expect in a new library. However what really makes this library special is the fact that although it is thoroughly modern it still has the unique feel and ambiance of an old and historical library. The architecture is stunning, from the stone exterior to the vaulted and beamed ceilings. Aesthetically lovely and spacious at the same time. Since it is a large library there are plenty of resources and places to spread out and relax and it's a pleasure just to walk through the wonderful space. One of the best parts of the library is the incredible Historical Room. Not only old books and records but a great genealogy section and even a section for newspaper obituaries. A truly stunning and lovely library that manages to look toward the future without forgetting about the past.

The WiFi is fast, no problems with that at all. Lots of big tables to really spread out all your work. Probably the best thing about this place is all the tables have power outlets in the middle of the tables. It is absolutely thee best thing ever about this place i love this. it is so convenient for me or anyone that needs power and doesn't have to go on a search for an outlet. tell them i sent you, quietly of course.

But that day I need to have some papers downloaded from my phone from a lawyer to print off and I will leave my husband at the doctors so I went down there and waited a few minutes and I went in and they sent me upstairs. The second floor I leave the man's name was Tim. He was a wizard. Oh my goodness he was amazing. OK he helped me to get my phone to download it like something else's an IP or whatever I don't remember because I'm not very savvy, but he got into the phone to do that. He linked it to their printer. I went over and did the printing work he showed me how to program the things to take and print stuff that printed it a costing like $.90 four pages, but I didn't care because Iknew it had to be done that day. But he was very slow about it very understanding step-by-step from me the person who's illiterate on the computer and can really use as much help as possible, lol I truly believe that this man is an absolute. A miracle worker he is perfect for this job. You couldn't have fitted someone more better into that space and he definitely did his job above and beyond what has ever expected from people I'm so glad the library as him there help everyone such as myself.

A few years later a "real" library and building were constructed and roughly 2,000 books were proudly stacked on the shelves. The served nicely for a while but the library's collection of books and more modern devices, unimagined when the library was constructed, started to appear. It became obvious a new and much larger library was needed. So in 1991 the brand new and much larger library was opened. It holds over 60,000 volumes as well as numerous works of art, displays and exhibits and a cool community room. It even has the traditional New England quilt that some new libraries have seemed to gotten away from, as well as a great display of a whale mom with her calf. Cool stuff. In 1999 the town decided to build a little park and patio on the grounds of the library. Not a place for serious hiking but a nice place to take a short stroll or find some shade and read a book. A very pleasant library and a great place to spend some time and if you're not careful, maybe even learn something.

Such a cute, comprehensive library in the heart of Norton. What struck me most is how friendly the staff is. They know most patrons by name and are always willing to help answer questions or find a solution. The WiFi is free but a bit unreliable. It would not let me log on to many major sites, but several minutes later after the staff reset the internet, it allowed those sites. Even before the reset, some sites worked (email, social media) but many others did not. Parking lot has ample space and there's even a few antiques decorating the library...it's like a tiny museum!
