I ended up going with a build your own burger, which had a veggie patty (very good, perks for not being a black bean) with swiss, onion straws & mushrooms. I had a side of pickle fries that were baked to perfection- I reaaaally enjoyed those! We also got their medium sized wings with sweet chili sauce- perfect amount of spice and some meaty wings. They had a small size on happy house which we'll get next time! The inside was a bit slow, but that's also because it was 9pm on a friday lol! The service was wonderful again, so im looking forward to coming back.

They also have bar seating, a number of high top tables and a nice outdoor seating area with a mix of high and low tables. Our server, Eva, was very pleasant and helpful. We weren't in a hurry so we sipped our waters, studied the menu and visited. Eva was understanding and patient. We ended up ordering drinks. The little one had a kid's vanilla shake, two of had draft beers and one of us stuck with water. A bit later, we ordered food as follows: - Fried Pickles appetizer - Soup (Chili) Salad (Mixed Greens) and Bread Stick - Mushroom and Swiss Burger with Ranch Fries - Cheesesteak Sandwich with Cajun Fries - Kid's Burger with Apple Sauce The food and drinks were decent. We'd return to Boulder Tap House.

Everything looked super cute but there were coloring and crayon scribbles on everything. It was on the books, the tables the displays etc. I asked a local friend and they said this is normal. When the waitress went to take our drink orders she was ok slightly rude. We looked at our friend and he said they aren't known for their service and can be a little rude. I asked if it's like Dicks Last Resort and he laughed and said no. I think she was okay after that and was like a standard waitress at more restaurants after . I would just say dont expect bending over backwards to make the customer number 1 service . I'm okay with that. They have some very interesting and yummy selections for burgers . I got excited for a blue cheese Burger. I will say that my Pattie was very well done and the bun was on point. The blue cheese dressing top.... Not what I want for a blue cheese burger . I was expecting the blue cheese crumble. The fries... bomb! Definitely get fries. Do I want to go back? Maybe if can sit outside on a nice day. Sort of got the ick sitting inside but it's because I'm not a dive bar kind of girl.

I said no at first because it looked like a depressed bar but what set it to a yes instead was the glorious smell that wafted from the restaurant during the afternoon before we went while they were freshly smoking their meats. So when the decision came to find a place, we said why not? We came on a Friday, which was even better, because we were able to take advantage of their Friday fish fry. I looked on Yelp to see what we should order while here and the fish fry got a lot of mentions so we decided to try that and some of their BBQ. The fish fry was worth the mention. It was AYCE but I would be surprised if you could want more after the first plate with their generous portions sizes. The fries were in-house hand cut and covered with Parmesan cheese. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It was a great Up North-style fish fry. The BBQ was very good as well. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and it came on a giant bun. Once again, the portion sizes were very generous. The sandwich came with a side of homemade BBQ sauce but honestly the meat had such a good flavor I didn't even need to add any to the sandwich. I have to give them a thumbs up for making many of their items like sauces and sides in-house even though it seemed like they could get away with less quality for being a small town bar & grill. This place really hit the spot, we were looking for no frills comfort food, and that is exactly what we found at The Shack. Price point vs. portion sizes were great and the service was small town friendly and prompt. Looks can be deceiving but The Shack isn't the dumpy bar I thought it was at first and I am glad we gave this place a shot.

The Details: For those of you who know me, you know I take a Bar B Que review seriously. So here goes! The Service was outstanding! Admittedly, people are nice in Duluth, but Sarah F went above and beyond. We should have been a terrible table for her... two dudes, a little girl, and a dog. However, she was gracious and patient, right from the start. When we treated her well and started talking BBQ, she brought out the team. Thank you to the front manager Sam who chatted us up. A special thank you to pitmaster Josh and Sean who rolled up their sleeves and talked Turkey.... Literally!!! The ambiance is perfect! Shaded outdoor space during the day was a huge plus! It was perfect! On to the food.... This is a traditional Southern Pride propane/wood smoked BBQ. I am personally not a fan of these smokers, but OMC did well. I found the St louis ribs to be the best cook of them all, with perfect tenderness. The brisket has solid seasoning with plenty pepper. The poblano corn was a fun side! Overall, a great little find in Duluth.
