We had a problem charging the electric cart but had plenty of charge first day. They said our outlets (3) didn't work but we use them with other things (sprinkler box etc). So they quickly brought a gas cart the next morning. I prefer an electric cart due to the lack of noise and thumping starting out but will check my outlets! We thoroughly enjoyed driving it around our West beach neighborhood (no driving on the beach) and to Pt West bayside to see the sunset. Kids loved our drive through the tunnel to the pool too. Rented a golf cart online for the first week of July 2023. Easy to do, user-friendly website. Cart was in great shape and ran great. Grandsons loved it. Issue with delivery. I called to check on a time and they were on the way. Over an hour later (maybe closer to 2), I called again and was told it had been delivered and basically argued with me. Informed them no one spoke to us and we had been sitting on the deck keeping an eye out. My daughter went downstairs again to check and nope. Not there. It was delivered to the wrong house. Apparently same number, but Pirate Cove instead of Pirate Lane or something. They rectified it quickly, but shouldn't you verify who you are dropping it off to and hand them the keys? Just my thoughts. Next issue was no response when emailed. I use a walker and oxygen which was the entire reason I rented the cart to go back and forth to the beach with family. When I contacted them via email to ask if I could drive the cart ON the beach to get closer to the water since there was signage that stated carts could drive on the beach to unload/load disabled persons, nothing. I emailed so I could have a written response of approval since their contract stated it couldn't be on the sand or even mud. read more

We stopped by one day to ask about repairs and to discuss our golf cart issues. Tyler (I think that's his name) suggested a possible solution which sounded right. So we picked up our Club Car golf cart and brought it in. They were always in communication with us and made suggestions for improvements on other items. The repairs were needed on bushings and our back seat. The improvement was a different lift kit. They did a complete check on the entire cart and batteries. They were done in less than a week and it was returned to us in Surfside. The entire bill was fair and not gouging. A few days after we received the cart, we had an issue with a battery cable. They came back out to assess and took the cart back to their shop to repair it. $100 later and we were back in business with our cart delivered to Surfside. Highly recommended for golf cart repairs. I wasn't going to leave a review, because technically we didn't end up using them. My issue is that I wanted to warn people to make sure you follow up after you make a reservation because I reserved a golf cart online on June 30th, and paid for it to be delivered on July 8th. The payment was taken out and I got the receipt via email. I Thought all was well, until literally about 3:30 the day before we were supposed to get it, I get a call that we are not in their area, and they can't give us a golf cart. I couldn't even pick it up and drop it off due to insurance reasons. All of which I understand, but What I'm upset about is my two young boys were so excited to get a golf cart, and I had to tell them that we couldn't get one after all because they still had our $200 that we paid. Of course they have issued a refund, but it says on their email refund receipt that it can take up to 10+ days to actually hit our acct, so we didn't have an extra $200 laying around to go get another cart. They need to make it where if you reserve online, and you're out of the service area, it does not let you go through with the reservation. I also emailed twice after I reserved to make sure we were good, but never got a response. Shame on me for not calling but I assumed everything was good since the payment cleared my acct and I got the invoice and receipt. And if they'd at least caught it and refunded and contacted me right away, I could've reserved another cart somewhere else. Just disappointing that I had to tell my boys we weren't getting it after all, the day before, and it was our last full day of our vacation. I gave two stars since they at least contacted me the day before and issued a refund. (Since this review, we did receive the refund, but we are already home) read more

I went into Ricks to rent a paddle board for 1/2 day. Despite having several boards in the shop, the woman refused to do a half day rental and said I'd have to pay the full day price of $80.00, regardless of how long I had the board. Kind of absurd when you can go into town and rent one for $35.00 a day. Seems to me that a half day fee is better than dust collecting on the boards in your shop, but that's just me... read more

Do not rent from Ricks go into town and rent from one of the many other rental places who also deliver. I rented paddle boards for 3 days, he dropped them off with the wrong paddles (too short) when he finally delivered new paddles the next day he refused to take the 1st day off the rental even though we could not use the boards. And finally I just received a call 1 day after pick up, that Rick is charging me 45 dollars for a broken fin, that is a lie, if the fin is broken he has only his pick up driver to blame for it. Not to mention I had to call him to remind him to pick the boards up as he forgot. When I confronted him on the phone about the added charge Rick told me there was nothing I could do, he'd charge my card anyway and then hung up on me. This is a horrible man and a horrible business to support please go somewhere else. read more

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE all around! Wonderful customer service. The guys who deliver, pick up, and work on the carts are fast and so nice. If you honor the agreement the way you are supposed to, you will have no problems! The front office manager is extremely polite and so quick to help. Beware!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! Rented a golf cart for one day which cost $193. Due to limited places you can drive it, we only drove it twice then parked it. They picked it back up the next day and I noticed a $135 additional charge on my credit card. My wife called and the office manager said she would get it refunded. The next week still no refund so we called back. Now they say there was damage done which is ludicrous since we drove it for a total of 15 minutes on the gold cart path! All they want to do is charge people extra to fix up there junkie golf carts. Never again!! read more

Scammers! The company has a bold sign on their golf carts that say do not wash with soap. We rented a golf cart for 24 hours, rinsed it off well with a garden hose and returned. Two days later, they called to say they were charging an extra $90 to wash it! What?!? We rented a golf cart for the week and they picked it up 3 days later, because they said it had too much sand on the golf cart. They rent their golf cart on Galveston Island...how is it not suppose to get sand on the cart? We are on the beach and we never rode the cart on wet sand like their policies stated. And they said our 20 yr old son was underage so he couldn't drive the cart.They never even asked to see his drivers license. They are total scammers do not rent anything from them. No wonder one of the owners is driving a hummer, because they are ripping everyone off. WARNING! Whatever you do, do NOT rent from Rick's. Go down the road to Pirate's Beach or to another supplier. Seriously, lives are at risk due to their faulty equipment. And they truly do not care. Here is our story: we rented two kayaks mid week for a day. Two of our party, very fit young men who both have kayaked before, set out across Christmas Bay into the marsh. On their way home, the kayak filled with water and began to sink in the middle of the bay near sundown. Luckily we were able to flag down a fisherman to save the boat and boater. Very scared, we brought the boat ashore to inspect only to discover there was a plug missing! How could they rent us a boat without a plug? Well it seems the the staff (especially the rude office manager) don't care nor will they take any responsibility at all. When I shared the situation, I asked for a refund only to be passed along to others, only to then be told I was too rude for a refund. Rude? I was only asking for my money back, but would have appreciated an apology as well. Bottom line--this place is a scam. The staff are rude and totally incompetent. And worse, your life is at risk renting their equipment. No stars for Rick's. read more

There was an extremely unpleasant woman at the front desk that was rude and unwilling to help us with our rental this year. She was very deeming and threatening; going so far as to accuse me of intentionally breaking the law.
