Wonderful little panadería in downtown San Bruno. My partner, who is Mexican, was impressed by the authenticity and flavors. While the selection seemed a little limited when we were there, everything looked so good that we nearly left with one of everything. My partner doesn't get as enthusiastic as food as I do, but was really into the Mexican Scone. There appeared to be only one woman working when we visited, but she greeted us immediately and offered us large samples before we even began to look at the display case. They also have a coffee bar where you can get a good variety of drinks. I got a caramel latte and it was just the right amount of sweet. Not syrupy or cloying, but with plenty of caramel flavor. The decor is cute, and I was really endeared by the hand-painted cartoon characters on the windows. There isn't much seating, but there's more than I expected, so my partner and I had somewhere to sit while we waited for my latte. Stopped in here on a whim and I'm glad I did. The pastries looked beautiful and the selection was wide -- lots of items you don't usually see in typical bakeries. Everything I tried tasted good, although one or two of them were a bit drier than I expected. That might just be the style for some of the Latin pastries, so I'll chalk that up to my lack of expertise rather than a flaw. Service was friendly and quick, and the shop itself had a welcoming, neighborhood feel. I wanted to like a local spot! I went there early around 7am before work and I think I got old bread, the dried sugar on top of the bread was super sticky I've never had pan dulce like that. The bread was so stale I immediately threw it out. You can find better and cheaper Mexican pan dulce at Los primos meat market down the street. It was almost $4 for stale bread! Came here for the Christmas tamales order...it was the first time ordering tamales. Ordered a dozen & a half (6 jalapeño & cheese, chicken & pork). My favorite was the jalapeño cheese...just enough heat and cheese so flavorful! Good portion. A tamale runs about $4 per tamale. Pretty solid. Party tray was packaged and labeled with care. FYI it's best to pay upfront via phone or in person. Tried a few pasties like the guava and pineapple pie, pineapple and guava cookie, the jello treat, will come back for sure. read more

Came by on a cold dreary Sunday morning - what better way to cheer up than sugar topped carbs?? The conchas here are so good. Crumbly/crisp topping in a beautiful classic pattern, and super soft tender bread on the inside. They're wonderfully light and go down a bit too fast haha. I could easily inhale 2-3 with a cup of coffee. Also got a cinnamon cuernito (generous amount of cinnamon sugar outside and rolled into it) and a Lunas pastry. Both were much more dense and a bit crumbly I also tried their flan, which was a generous cup portion for 2 bucks and change. It's a gelatin-heavy sort of flan, rather than egg yolk heavy, so it's lighter and more like gelatin than custard. Will def come by next time for a ton of the conchas, and to try out more pastries! read more

I ordered from Rico Pan Latin Pastries via Uber Eats over the past weekend (12/12/2020) and I was excited to try this place since 1. they had tamales available and 2. I LOVE PANDERIAS! I ended up ordering 2x Pork Tamales, 2x Jalapeno Tamale, 1 Pink Concha, 1 Sugar Croissant, and 1 Tres Leches Cake w/ Strawberry filling. I was excited to find a panderia on UberEats that was relatively close by. My total + delivery fees + delivery tip came out to be around $43.77 (I know I could have just driven there and gotten a better deal) Break down of cost: Tres Leches Cake: $5.80 each slice Tamales: $5 for 2 (so $10 I spent) Conchas: $2 each Sugar Croissant: $3.00 each When I opened everything up, it seemed like I received everything but to my surprise I only received 2/4 tamales instead of 4/4. To be fair, the tamales were huge and I don't think I could have eaten all 4. If this tamale was the equivalent of two, I'll take it. Based on the pictures I provided down below, I was excited to dig into everything since it all looked fresh! Here's a breakdown of everything based on my opinion: -Pork Tamale: I really liked the flavor and the pork in this tamale. I think with the tapatio I put on top made it even better. However, there was too much masa and it started crumbling. The ends felt like it had more masa and the body itself was not covered. Because there was more masa in some areas, it almost got too dry for me. The pork itself was really tender and the sauce had really good flavor. You can kinda tell in the photo where it split in the back and the filling is exposed. 3.5/5 for me -Jalapeno Tamale: Similar to the pork tamale where it had a lot of masa. I should have re-heated it since the cheese had solidified at that point, but it was still pretty tasty. I wished there was a bit more jalapeno in it since the majority of the time I felt like I was eating masa. I would say I would opt in for more filling! I think if I had it fresh, it would be a lot better. 3.5/5 Both tamales were still pretty tasty, although there are some tweaks they could do in order to make it not as dry tasting or the masa from crumbling. If they do happen to sell smaller tamales, maybe I'll give that a shot and see if it's any better. -Pink Concha: This tasted absolutely fresh and I loved it. I dipped this in my coffee and enjoyed it so much! I love the fact that the pink sugar didn't crumble as much because I end up looking like a mess. 5/5 -Sugar Croissant: The other pictures on yelp looked like it was dipped with more sugar, so this is just your regular croissant rolled in sugar. It was definitely still good and better with coffee. It was a bit dry, but I didn't mind it. 3/5 - Tres Leches Cake: It wasn't as "wet" as I wanted it to be and upon first bite it was a bit dry. I ended up pouring some almond milk (I know usually evaporated milk + condensed milk is often used for the cake) to help moisten the cake. Once moist, the flavors were actually really good. I really do like the touch of strawberry in it too. I'm tempted to try the peach flavor next time. Overall, I would have to say the flavor of the items I tried was spot on, I just think maybe if I had everything a bit more fresh it would be a 5 star review. I'm leaning towards 3.5-4 stars since I still enjoyed what I had. Also with the tamales, I'm not too sure if 2x tamales were supposed to be just 1 bigger one or if they had forgot to give me the other two. Otherwise, I'll still order from this place again once in awhile. read more

After a big meal, I am always craving something sweet! My mother and law and I ventured out to see if we could find some good pan dulce near South San Francisco. It was pretty late in the day, so we didn't consider that a lot of places would be closed or low on stock from the early morning crowd. We ended up driving farther out and found Rico Pan. They had such a big variety and plenty in stock when we got there around 3pm. We ended up getting so many pastries that we got one free! This is a review of the location and staff at the counter. It's really great that downtown san bruno has a real bakery. I believe it's San Bruno's only bakery at the moment. There are a few small tables where you can quickly have your coffee and pastry. The person behind the counter is helpful and very nice! San Bruno is really growing up. I gather that with YouTube and Walmart Labs in town, there are more folks that need good places to go to. I love all the top notch local businesses popping up! read more

Went here on a Saturday morning to get some pastries for breakfast. My friend and I got an apple pie and lunas. Both were delicious. The apple pie was full of delicious, lightly sweetened apple filling. The lunas was on the sweeter end with a sugary, crisp crust-like surface. Highly recommend. The store itself is reminiscent of a late-night donut shop. When you enter, there's a self-serve coffee station with several carafes of coffee and disposable cups for you to pour yourself. Finally, a Latin pastry place worth returning to. I cannot express how relieving it is to have a place that actually sell good bread/pastries around where i live. I've been wanting to try out this place, but i would always find the place closed. Today I saw it open so I went in and bought a few pieces of pastries and let me tell you... the pastries were delicious! The pastries were fresh and soft with the right amount of sweetness. Such a great pastry and panadería! There isn't seating but there are a lot of options for bread and pastries. They have a reward system that I would recommend signing up to when you are about to pay. We ordered a pineapple turnover pastry, two conchas which is basically bread with sugar on top but is amazing, and a few other types of bread. The lady was very generous and gracious. She was also patient in giving us time to decide what to get. Overall my experience here was great and I'll definitely be back ! read more
