My friend and I decided to see the city differently by renting bikes. We stumbled across this place while walking and were glad we went in. The two guys were very nice and helpful. They helped pick out the right bikes for our liking, adjusted the seats, and added baskets free of charge. We both paid $30 for a multi speed bike for 4 hours. They also give you a bike lock for if you decide to leave the bike somewhere. They have a great selection of bikes and we chose some beautiful vintage bikes to ride. IF THIS LOCAL SHOP WANTS TO SURVIVE, IT'S TIME TO LOSE THE ATTITUDE.  I should have been tipped off when I saw no air hose available to top off my tires  I mean a bicycle shop without an air line is like a restaurant with no kitchen. Up till recently I had been pleased with my interactions with this closet sized bicycle sho. It is in close proximity to my apartment, and convenient. I preferred Josh the mechanic to Larry the owner. Josh is quite capable and took excellent care of my Rad Rover E bike.  At the time I purchased my bike online in  August 2018 this shop had no E bikes for sale. I had previously purchased a used bike there and had no problems with it. All of my service on my e bike for two years was done there.  This included all maintenance, flat tires, new brakes, lubrication, accessories etc. They were my only bike shop, and I used them for all things having to to with bicycles. My expenditures over the years were a tad over $400.  A flat tire on an e bike is a much bigger problem then in a regular bike. Mine weighs in at 65 pounds and with 4 inch fat tires it will not roll at all on its rim. It's also too big to fit into a car to bring in. I live half a mile away and am physically unable to push the bike in. I'm 71years old. I've had two heart attacks and am on dialysis. My e bike is my only transportation and lifeline. All food shopping, doctors appointments, and dialysis appointments are reached on this bike. Larry the owner is aware of my situation. He simply doesn't care. I tried to fix it on my own. It involved a complex removal of the rear drive wheel. I reached out to the owner Larry. Please stop by my place or have Josh give me a call please. I'll pay you whatever you want I explained in detail my situation. It took some time to hear back, and I got absolutely no help at all. I got either no response, or a response indicating he could care less, and he had zero intention of helping me out. "You're too demanding", he said. What? He left me to hang. The owner showed no concern for my medical issues, or for the fact this bike is my lifeline and connection to the outside world. It is critical for my survival.  "It's mothers day...I have no time for you" was his initial response which took three emails to get. Ok Larry, please let Josh come before or after work. I was your customer long before this pandemic.  I built loyalty with you for this type of situation. He then tells me he can't get a tube...what? So I order order in on Amazon a 26x4 tube. I get it in two days...but he can't get one Hello Larry...I have the tube. Ten total days have gone by. My Uber bill is sky high for dialysis . I'm getting zero help from the owner.  Another three days goes by. He tells me now he's busy building 7 new bikes. His entire shop holds maybe a dozen old rental bikes.  Again he offers no help. Refuses to let his mechanic help me. Doesn't care I'm paying Uber to get to dialysis. That I'm cut off and sick.  A real prince of humanity Larry is. He is only interested in today's new business. He did nothing but stall, lie, and show zero empathy or concern. He made no effort to help me out.  I reached out to other shops and took an ad on Craigslist. I had a young man  answer my ad. He came the next day and in twenty minutes had my e bike up and running. I gladly paid him one hundred dollars for helping me out .  I also had an offer to help from  John at Gerkens Bike Shop. Thank you John I'll be sure to come in and say hello. To use your shop for all my future needs. I would avoid Ride This Bike. Josh is a good guy, and an excellent mechanic. The owner Larry is knowledgeable, but was unwilling to help me knowing my bike was my lifeline. I got nothing but either no response or lame excuses over a two week period. As owner he has final say. Service is a low priority.  He'll be very nice if he sniffs money on a new bike.  Be wise and take your business elsewhere. We have several excellent shops that understand loyalty and customer service.   I spent half a century as a business consultant helping small businesses have a greater success. I recognize the difference between good customer service, and from a self centered business owner who puts money before the welfare of his loyal customers.. Avoid this shop at all costs.  I came to New Orleans after Katrina to help them restore this wonderful city. I ended up staying, and calling it home. In the ten plus years I've been here Larry Lagarde is the first and only poor service I've ever received from any merchant. He disregarded my loyalty, showed no concern for my well being, and has this pompous, self righteous attitude that seems out of place on our friendly hospitable city. read more

I'm in the market for a bike so I walked in before my gig to see if I could get some help. I assume the man was the manager or owner that I spoke with. Didn't bother to look up from the social media post he was crafting to listen to my questions. When he finally stopped it was evident to me that he'd not tuned into what I was saying or who I was based on the things that he offered. I told him that I was looking for a commuter bike that I could also ride with my guitar on my back. One bike was a what looked like a toy bike with tiny wheels and high handle bars and another a tricycle with a basket on the back. I told him how the consumer interaction was for me and left. On a random trip to New Orleans during Halloween weekend I wanted to find the most affordable way to truly get a feel for the city. We wanted to sign up for a bike tour but due to the the nature of our spontaneous trip and fact that it was Halloween and there was a ton of Festivals going on we missed the opportunity. The original shop we stopped at was at capacity for tours and did not have any bikes to rent out. We came across this shop on Google and they will have my business for life. Here are 5 reasons why I would recommend them: 5. They offer rentals from 4 hours to 24 hours at a reasonable price. I would advise anyone just to go for the 24 hour rate because there are so many hidden gems around the city you can easily loose track of time. 4. Although they could not offer us a bike tour they provided maps and suggested routes to take. 3. The rental and return process was quick and easy. 2. Not only do they provide bike locks they also offer insurance. I loved this because I refuse to be responsible for a random idiot who thinks it is funny to destroy something that does not belong to them. Plus I'm clumsy. 1. They have bikes with baskets. You don't have to choose between shopping or biking you can do both because you have somewhere to keep your stuff. It's the little things that excites me. read more

Great friendly spot for bike rentals. They rent Bromptons (famous English maker of foldable bikes), which is what I rented for the week. Since it's foldable, you can bring the bike into your hotel room, and they're quality bikes (retail for about $1400). The only bad thing I have to say about this shop is that they don't always open on time. I waited outside till 10 past before they finally opened the doors. read more

Customer service was great ! Walked in to rent 2 bikes and was riding within a few minutes, the process was fast all they needed was a credit card on file and $48 upfront for the 2 hours. I was I little sketch in the beginning bc bike seats are so uncomfortable for me but surprisingly the bikes were comfy and easy to ride! My bike is my transportation and due to location and an urgent need for repair, I took a chance trying this shop out. I expected to be over charged, talked into more than I needed and spoken down to as had been the case in several other shops in area. We had a great time renting for the afternoon and got to see parts of town we never would have gotten to walking. The bike rental price is definitely reasonable, full day and 4 hour rates. The bikes were OK, not the best shape, some squeaking and rattling, especially on the cruisers. And we got some recommendations for music around town later in the evening. They are very interested in making sure your visit to New Orleans is complete, even the parts that don't involve a bike at all! -1 star: Apparently they usually warn people (they didn't warn us), but if you ride with the keys in the locks how they give them, the keys will fall out and be lost forever. So as soon as you get your bike, grab the key and stick it in a pocket. The -1 star is for the $35 key fee even though they didn't tell us about this at all. Totally understandable that we're responsible for lost stuff, but they made it sounds like we should have known to take the keys out. read more

I found this place on yelp which is conveniently located in the heart of French Quarters. I had few hours and wanted to make the best out of it. Larry was very helpful and took his time to help me select the most efficient route along with a proper bike! I was very happy and got to see a lot of things which I wouldn't get too. Going over the local traffic regulations was a nice touch as well. He is also very knowledgeable and informative and when I came back he went over pros and cons of certain bikes. My girlfriend and I rented 2 bikes from Larry back on Labor Day 2012. I'll put it this way: Our experience there was good enough that over 4 months later when I stumbled across his card, it made me stop and post my first review ever. Touring NOLA by bike was a fantastic change of pace and thanks to invaluable route advice we got to see parts of the city that I had previously ignored on several prior trips. Larry really seemed to listen to our time constraints and interests and made fantastic recommendations. Plus he took good care to make sure the bikes were sized well for us and we were comfortable with them. I would absolutely recommend any tourist use this service and will definitely be back to try some of the other routes on my next visit. read more

Nice location and easy to get to. If you have an afternoon or even a full day to spend in New Orleans, then bike transportation is surely the best way to go. Small storefront so there's not a whole lot of room for customers to mill about while waiting for the staff to get riders bikes and out on the roads. $17 each rider gets you 3 to 3.5 hours on the bike. Pros. Multiple bike options at varying price points. Friendly staff, albeit only one staff member, working. You have the option to get a helmet, but there are no helmet laws in the Big Easy, and they shop supplies you with a high quality lock that will secure 2 or 3 bikes, or multiple bike locks, depending on the size of your group. 3 in our group got the matte black with bronze rim beach cruisers--very comfortable ride and easy to handle on the slick roads in and around the French Quarter. Cons. Only one staff member working...from the moment we walked in the door it took around 20 minutes for him to assist another couple ahead of us and for us to get our bikes and get on our way. One bike thew its chain twice and we had to go back to get a replacement ... That sucked a whole lot as we were almost a mile from the shop and had to walk the inoperable bike back...plus it cut into our rental time so that 3 hour rental really became 2.5 hours. Cash seemed to be the preferred method of payment, but they do have the ability to take credit card payment with a $2 surcharge. We opted for the credit card option since there were 3 riders in our group (initially--our 4th rider met up when we had to replace the broken bike), so we split that fee 3 ways. Would I give this shop a 2nd chance; certainly because riding will get you around the city a whole lot faster than walking and will be cheaper than taxi cabs in the long run. But I would also check out some of the other bike rental locations to see about getting a better deal or more time for the cost. read more

Awesome Experience last week!! 'RideTHISbike' is the real deal - the quaint little French Quarter business we were hoping to find on our trip. Part Bike Rental and Part Bike Sales, Larry is the Owner, Operator and mechanic here. Having lived in New Orleans his whole life, he knows the places to go based on your interests and bicycling experience. Larry outfitted my wife and I with solid bikes for 2 days, and gave us a ton of his time drawing routes on maps with us: the free ferry to Old Algiers, biking along the Mississippi levies, The City Park, Lake Ponchetrain, and some secrets... For us, biking was the perfect way to see the city and environs. With his bikes and ideas, he truly made our two days most memorable! I couldn't help but think of my favorite Dr Suess Quote when we pedalled away from his shop: "You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! This is the place to rent a one-speed ultra-comfortable Cadillac Eldorado cruiser (actually made by GM!) from Larry. We did on 1/5/12 and we rode these plush buckets up Esplanade to Lake Pontchartrain and back and all over the French Qtr, Marigny and over to the Garden District. When I came down to New Orleans this time iI decided to actually buy a bike on Craigslist for the week. I stopped in the shop to have a tech raise the seat as I had zero tools. I told him I would probably give it to him at the end of the week. They helped me make a few adjustments, rented me a lock and I was on my way. Considering I was not actually renting a bike this year, they were super cool. A few days later I dropped off the bike. He said he thought it was probably stolen from a fleet and that he may be able to find the rightful owners. I figure we both get some karma points out of this one and left it in his hands. read more

Nice owner and great suggestions to get a mr bike for the bumps in the road and a great suggestion and route to see the Garden district of New Orleans. I have always loved NO for the music scene but now love it for the "eye candy" that is the quaint architecture and colors of the garden district. I think this owner would benefit from an after hours pick up protocol. I would love to cruise around during the no so busy times to Frenchman street and the quarter. Overall great job. Thanks. Larry, a Crescent City native, at RideTHISbike is that guy in New Orleans. I reviewed every place and visited several before my wife and I rented bikes for a week. His bikes are new and in great repair. They are higher quality and lighter than other places. He provided a bike map and recommended where and where not to ride. We comfortably road all over the city and along the lake and up the river trail to Kenner and back. This is definately the way to experience this great city. Glad to see there is a decent bike shop in the quarter to encourage more tourists to get out and ride. Wasn't glad to find out they were charging $25 to change a blown tube. $12 is the going rate I've seen and even with quarter markups, $15 is the most I would spend just to not have afternoon ride spoiled. Couldn't bring myself to spend $25 just because I didn't bring along my pump and tire tools. Ended up just getting a tube for $7 which is pretty straight. I'm guessing that they get tubes for less than $5 bucks which means they are hoping to make $20 to change the tube out which takes less than 10 minutes. That means an hourly rate of about $120?! I don't know if guys working on formula one racing cars make that. If you rent a a bike and get a flat, do they charge you $25 to fix it? Sorry guys, rant over... read more

There are occasions when, in dealing with a business, you can become enamored with the decency and professionalism of the staff and yet not make a transaction. Today I ALMOST bought a bicycle from RideTHISbike. It was used and need to be retrieved from storage by staff that were already overwhelmed by Jazz Fest. They were prompt in their replies, courteous and accommodating. I did not buy the bike for reasons unrelated to the quality of the merchandise. However props to Larry and Joshua for their helpfulness and I will most definitely be a customer in the future. read more
