Love going to RigaTony's for lunch or dinner. 6 of us went to dinner last night. 4 of us had the special- Surf and Turf. 2 of them were sent back. 1 didn't like taste and one had very char'd steak. We all asked for rare. For being tenderloin, it was very chewy. almost tough. The risotto and shrimp were very good. The service was very good as usual. We had an early dinner here on Friday night before the dinner rush and we were seated right away. The inside is pretty cute. The walls are decorated with interesting photos and memorabilia. The food is great. We started off with a calamari platter and omg it was one of the best I've had in a while. The lasagna was delicious and huge, definitely enough for two people to share. We also ordered salmon as well and that was very good. Service was great. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout our entire meal. I am a regular, purchasing gift cards in Dec and use throughout the year. I do this because my grandson loves the baked Rigatony and with every $50 gift card you get a gift card for a free baked Rigatony for 2 to go. Excellent value for us. Rigatony's never disappoints. Note that service does vary from exceptional to average, but I've never experienced "bad" service. To beat the crowds I recommend Reservations or early dinner - I'm not a fan of waiting to be seated. In a pinch, and if we can find a seat, we eat in the bar area. Not the best atmosphere but service is great. Food never disappoints. Salad is great. I recommend purchasing house salad dressing to take home. Wish I had learned about this option this years ago Favorites are pasta jambalaya, lasagna, Cicero pizza & baked Rigatony. I don't get it. Place is run down. Looks old. No atmosphere. Menus and tables are sticky. Food is your red sauce Italian run of the mill. A highlight is the bottomless salad-delish. Oh, and the cockroaches. I know, they roam free in this area of Tempe and yes I'm sure there is moisture from the kitchen. But it's a big turn off in a restaurant. Pizza-average, nothing to see here. Seem to attract a mature clientele-they have been a staple in Tempe, and I hope they can revamp the place for their own survival. The bartenders were friendly and helpful without being over the top, and everything we ordered came out quickly. Wine was good and prices were reasonable. Most of all, I was a little surprised at how good the food was. I was expecting mid quality like a typical chain restaurant, and instead got a meal I'd happily order again and again. I had the eggplant Parm with cacao e pepe, and my husband had baked rigatoni; we also had the antipasto salad. The pasta dishes were well-cooked and seasoned, not too heavy or bland at all. Same with the eggplant Parm - it was light and flavorful and not greasy at all. I don't usually order dessert, but went for the tiramisu and I'm glad I did. Good food and an excellent waiter named Elsir restored my faith in Rigatony's tonight. No one in my party of 4 ordered anything with tomato sauce, and everyone loved their northern Italian cuisine. Having been literally burned in the past by caustically hot red sauces as described in my past posts, I'm still not ordering anything with marinara or other tomato sauces there, but I will give them another chance in the future. We picked this place as something new. We are sorry we did. Is the food was plain and unexciting almost on the level of Denny's. There were three of us so three meals and two cocktails came out to $200. We had the lobster ravioli which was soggy and liver pate consistency we had chicken parm with spaghetti and meat sauce which the parm was like a big piece of heavy weight and the meat sauce could have come from ragu. I had the seafood bake which should have been called the seafood slop. Nothing to return for as far as the food goes.. The service was professional but very robotic. I came here for a birthday celebration and I had never been to this restaurant before. I heard people loving the fresh bread and the signature baked RigaTony dish. We got the signature dish that included a good spicy sausage. The dish was good and enough for 3 meals. I really enjoyed the sausage flavor. We also got the Raging Bull which is basically a French dip or Italian beef dip. The beef was thick sliced and topped with melted cheese. The sandwich was tasty except for the au Jus that was salty. We're from California and we're told about the food here. Honestly was really good. The reason for the 1 star was the absolute horrible service. Waitress had a very smug personality thee entire dinner. We went for my daughters 8yr bday dinner and the restaurant was nearly empty. It took almost 45 mins last us finishing dinner to get a slice of cake. It was also my friends anniversary of a buddies death and we always get 4 diet cokes at dinner. I asked her specifically and nicely early into the meal. She ignored the request and never brought out the cokes. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. The restaurant posts a number of rooms so no one area gets too overwhelmingly loud. Our server was fantastic and great with recommendations. There are daily specials that are offered . The menu is extensive and reasonably priced with all your standards and some real nice surprises. All entrées include endless salad and bread, so be careful you don't fill up! The salad was super fresh and tossed right at the table. In addition to a full-service bar, special nonalcoholic, Italian sodas are available and a really nice treat. We enjoyed fantastic entrées, which were perfect pasta foundations for carb bulking prior to the Mesa, marathon and 10 K run. An extensive desert menu is available but we were too full! Meet with friends for a double date. I've known about this place for years, but have never been. It was a busy Saturday night. All the tables were full and a wait at the entrance. I'm glad we had reservations. They have a mix of pasta and non-pasta entrees. My husband had the Seafood Checha (pronounced Kekka) and I had the Chianti Short Ribs. Both were very good. Yay: All you can eat bread and salad after you place your order. And the salad is sooooo good!!! Meh: not a lot of specialty cocktails on the menu. But I did have the Bee's Knees and enjoyed it. I had the chicken Picatta, lasagna, spaghetti, and meatballs. I didn't know the picatta had mushrooms. Other than that it was good. You can't go wrong with Lasagna. I didn't care for the spaghetti. We waited a little over 45 min for a party of 4 on a Sunday during the dinner rush. Our server was a little frazzled, she shared with us she was working a double. But she was quick and extremely friendly. Once you get sat, dinner is pretty quick. We were served delicious, warm bread with a lovely salad. Our dinners came out as we were eating the salad still. I had the cheese ravioli, while the others in our party had the baked RigaTony, chicken parm, and the penne Rosa with sausage. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I'm a little more picky, unfortunately! I grew up in a huge Italian family and was a little disappointed in the red sauce. It was on the super sweet side. The ravioli themselves were good though. I really felt the food was just average. I think next time I may try the alfredo because of all the good reviews on it! I was in Arizona for a work trip and went on TikTok to find the best Italian food in the area and let me tell you that RigaTonys did not disappoint. Their service was immaculate. I started with their sangria flight and one of the sangrias was their special which was an apple pie sangria and it was delicious. It literally tasted like an apple pie slice. Their house salad with the creamy Italian dressing was my favorite salad ever. The bread was warm and soft. I got the pasta tour and it didn't disappoint. I had a lot of leftovers. Love that this restaurant is a family owned place. They take pride in their food and it's always excellent. They have a great lunch menu with affordable pricing and good portion sizes. We love coming here for holidays and family celebrations. The build your own pasta bowl, ciabatta bread, and pizza's are favorites.
